solo_soprano22 -> What was your hardest college class? (7/11/2006 8:06:21 PM)

I'm just curious. I think my most difficult classes so far have been PhysicsI and PhysicsII. I told everyone if I made it out alive, I'd never complain about another class so long as I live, and I'd believe I could pass anything else I took. Lol. And yes, I made it out of both classes.

How about you all?

It's been mroe than a few years, but Engineering Drafting was the hardest. I don't visualize space that well. Physics was a snap (but then I was a math major for the undergrad degree).

Physics II also gave me fits. The problem for me was that it was the 3rd priority of classes at the time behind Programming and Calc II. Putting Physics II on the backburner is not a good idea.

This year, Artificial Intelligence was quite the monster. I ended up pulling an A in the class, but I killed myself in that class.

By far it was my Public Relations class! I hated that class with a passion! I barely made it through, and would have dropped it had it not been a requirement for my degree. Strangely enough it was my dh's favorite class. [&:] Of course he took it at night as compared to my 8AM and at a completely different school with a better instructor!

Mine was Anthropology which I didn't even need. I took it because I was interested.

It was online and the class required a ton more writing than any other intro class I had taken (and it was NOT supposed to be a writing intensive course). It wasn't so much that the class was difficult, really, but that I underestimated the lessons, then waited until the last minute to complete the assignments. And there were topics I hadn't expected. I didn't know we were going to get into detailed study of evolution and primate anatomy for example... I was also working full-time and had a lot of family stuff going on (and 4 other classes that I did need).

I got a B, but I don't think I ever had a class that I felt like I was always behind in. It was one of only two B's at that school, and the other one the class was easy and I felt I did A work ... it was a matter of the prof being hard on me (because she knew I could have done better, even though I did do better than the other students) and choosing not to redo a paper because of the other stuff going on (that course was the same semester).

I actually probably had classes that were harder (required more work, had more complex material--like Abnormal Psych), but I enjoyed them so they didn't feel difficult.

Zoololgy by far. I'm a Marketing major, and i was advised to take this to fill a gen. ed. requirement. the teacher was very strict (even with the spelling of scientific names...), and i almost did cartwheels back to my dorm when i made it through with a C. my least fond memory of that class was the rat disection lab (which was mandatory & my first disection). my lab partner was all about digging into that thing (a med. tech. major), but the teacher took my hand and shoved my fingers inside that thing. he apologized for making me cry, but i will never take one of his classes again.

Hmm, probably Business Law. But it was also one of my favorites!

Brand77 -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (7/12/2006 1:12:58 AM)

Hebrew. It has been over 8 yrs and I still have nightmares from that one.

visioso -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (7/12/2006 2:51:47 AM)

So far, Circuit Analysis. Applied Electromagnetics comes in at a very close second.

Every math class I have taken and Chemistry.[:'(]

isaacsmom -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (7/12/2006 9:48:16 AM)

Hardest classes for me were Philosophy of Language and Philosophy of Science (both 4000-5000 level). Talk about scrambling your brain! I made it out of both with a big fat A though!!!! [sm=gradsmile.gif][sm=icon_smile_super.gif]

I also took Ancient Greek courses for 3 years, and I loved, loved loved it. Difficult, but very challenging. We translated the book of Luke for my last semester.

Brand77 -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (7/12/2006 9:52:25 AM)

Hermanutics (Bibical Translation) was hard.

I *loved* business law.
I agree it was hard. It was hard because there are so many ways to look at an issue and lots of grey areas. No real right or wrong when it comes to the law. Its all in how you look at it.

My hardest class was C++ Programming.
I had to take 6 months of computer programming as part of my degree.
I passed by 1 point and got my degree, but its not transferable. [:(]

moon_mouse -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (7/12/2006 10:32:31 AM)

Operations Management. But, that was only because the prof taught it with the assumption that you had taken stats (which I had not) even though stats was not a pre-req for the class!

Outside of that...probably accounting.

Psalm22 -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (7/12/2006 1:57:58 PM)

Ick. I had forgotten about Business Law. BLaw II was not good. The adjunct prof knew his stuff, just couldn't teach worth a darn.

hentag -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (7/12/2006 2:11:38 PM)

Business calculus math for me.........I still gotta take part 2 of this math to complete my undergraduate degree and I don't look forward to it. Right now I'm taking a Project Human Resource Mgt Course and this guys quizzes are killing me.

lynnmoon -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (7/12/2006 2:33:23 PM)

Count me in as another physics II hater. I didn't make it through!!! That was the class that made me change my major and my mind. Well, maybe it wasn't so much that class, but getting through it was such torture that the prospect of ever increasing physics classes scared me off. My major required nearly 3 or 4 years worth of physics and I just kind of gave up, soooooooooooooo I got out of Engineering and into Information Technology. It's been much easier!!!!!! Even the graduate work in Info systems was easier than that first year of engineering stuff. My hat is off to engineers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Definite the graduate Finance class. I am NOT a numbers person.

Auben -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (7/12/2006 6:51:31 PM)

It was some embarrassingly low math like Trigometry. My advisor made me retake it (I took it in high school with a B) and the college teacher did proofs in a completely different way than my high school teacher did! I loved the man, but he would count off for not using the right way to get the right answer. I could get the right answer but couldn't remember which form he wanted me to use.

So I got a B- or C+ or something like that. To stay in school I needed a 3.5 average so I changed majors from Biology (which I could get straight As in but darn that math) to Communications and teaching.

I plan to go back some day and finish that biology degree when I'm not as worried about money and scholarships.

creationtalk -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (7/12/2006 7:35:01 PM)

All foreign language classes were hard for me. I usually made decent grades because the languages (Spanish and French) followed patterns and I could memorize the patterns and "look" like I knew what I was doing and I have an ear for accents, so I usually could read things and make the SOUND right...but I didn't have a CLUE what it meant. I was lucky that I never had to take advanced classes where I actually had to know what I was saying or writing.

I deliberately picked graduate schools that did not require foreign language proficiency for the degree.

...I liked most of my physics classes--except electronics--good thing too, since I was a physics major. I didn't like math much until I got into non-linear differential equations. That was hard, but interesting.

TeachingforHim -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (7/12/2006 10:56:18 PM)

History and Philosophy of Education! I love history! I love philosophy! I love education! I hated this course! The prof was so hard! He taught in a very circular fashion, and made people in the class feel less than dirt! His requirements for what he expected for papers was two pages long!!!! The books were good though!

Miss Giggles -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (7/12/2006 11:06:08 PM)

calculus.

had to take it twice, barely passed the second time. my college was notorious for making match classes difficult. But I found out too late.

iluvatar -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (7/13/2006 12:22:52 AM)

Differential Equations. I made it out of Calc 2 w/ a C, and this was just [sm=yummy.gif]

teej18 -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (7/13/2006 2:52:24 AM)

Philosophy...I got an A but it was terrible...the prof. was very strange and obviously had no idea how to teach. She began class on the first day by asking "Does god exsist?" then finished on the last day with "Therefore Christianity is a false religion." ?????? Oh well.

Our class average was a "D." When I got my final grade, I knew she had to have messed with the scores, because I was averaging a C when I went into the final.
