Hi everyone, We had a great trip up to Mundubbera. freshly picked (off the tree!) Imperial mandarins are tops. Lots of photos. We had a top echelon audio mixer donated to our church and it was installed today. I have spent the afternoon sussing it out and getting it set up for Sunday. It should work out fine - I just have to keep away from using the sound effects lol Goodnight all, Buddy ps. Trish, how did you fare in all those storms over there?

Gary, Thanks dude. I wonder if it would be ok if I could come in here and check in with you all sometimes...there is a common language across the pond that divides us (or whatever that expression is). Yeah, it seems Aussie males like to be more laid back and less mushy. My lad tries to act like that but eventually gives in and shows tons of emotion. I am used to it now though and stopped being mad at him about that since I can always tell things even over yahoo IM. He is actually the most dippy guy around but he is unable to show it very well, unless it slips out by accident. Canberra seems like a hard place for a YAM to make his way in life. I was not happy to hear him say to me he didn't know where we would live if we married...I think Silicon Valley is obviously where God wants him to be. Yes, I know what God wants for his life. Hehe. Ok...maybe not. He thinks it would be fantastic to work as an investment broker in London City UK...I think he has no clue how beautiful Oz is and how it is BETTER than the UK! I have been to both places and Oz is like having the best of America and the UK on one island. [note; it seems to me he thinks places to live in order of Financial possibility for him are: 1) london city 2) Canberra 3) Silicon Valley...this order he has is so wrong!] Okay...enough of my saga. How is everyone doing? For friendly Aussies, y'all are sure being quiet! :) PS: one question...do you have Christian Rock Radio STations in Oz?

Hi , We do have Christian radio stations over here, LadyMOH that play music over fm stations. I do not know if it is specifically rock music though. I no longer listen to them as I find it more profitable to sit at the feet of Jesus and learn from Him - now that is music to my ears!. quote:
Oz is like having the best of America and the UK on one island. That was very kind of you LadyMOH. I guess we do take things for granted over here.

Buddy, we've done ok here. We lost power for a bit the other day during the storm, but we've managed to get it back pretty quickly. There were still some without power last night from then. Had some strong weather yesterday and this morning, but it wasn't as bad as the other day. We're all safe here. It hit further south of me.

Hello everyone! Just spent a wonderful day with our Orchid Society hosting the Childers Society. We gave them a BBQ lunch which they did enjoy. The weather was perfect...not too hot or too cold. Trish where do you live? Did anyone see the hail Brisbane got on Thursday? Hope you have a blessed Sunday. Love, Marleneann.

Hi everyone, Just listening to the news. Computer hacking is on the rise in Australia and costing us. I turned on the computer this morning - got a Microsoft message saying that I had "made significant changes to my computer" and I had to reactivate Windows XP withing the next 3 days. This involved 8 x 6 digit numbers and I didn't fare too well (I have a 63 year old aversion to ridiculously large numbers). Finally, in desperation, I rang Microsoft. A lady in India, speaking with a heavy Indian accent - to compound the degree of difficulty, talked me through it and at last, the computer is working again. The Irony is that in November of 2004, Windows XP crashed and I went through the (now) annual routine of reformatting the C:\ drive and reactivating Windows XP. As far as I can recall, I had not done anything significantly to my machine and so what? Is not a computer for the very purpose of being used? and who is Microsoft to chide me on such a matter? Now that I have got that off my chest, I reckon I'll send it along to Microsoft . Thanks for listening to me ! I put the new church audio through its paces on Sunday and everything went well. Gave the organ a nice cathedral effect and the speaker too much of a large room effect (according to the tape). Next, we are going to work on capturing the choir with some dedicated microphones but there are some murmurings of rebellion there. How's the photo layering going Marleneann? It's now official - I have in excess of 8000 photos (the good, the bad, the ugly).

Anything goes wrong with the computer, and John is the first one I call. He's learned a bit from a friend of ours. That, and he is technically minded, so I'm forever having to ask him about things.

Question for Trish in Perth. There is a BIG Orchid Conference in Fremantle in September. How far is it from the Perth Airport to Fremantle and how much would it cost (approx) for the transport? I was thinking of going if there was a good air fare special. Hugs, Marleneann.

Hi all, The most wonderful thing about computers and technology is that we won't need them when Jesus comes again and we will be in the new heavens and the new earth together with Him. A resounding Amen to that! While we have our feet on this ground ... Kylie, tell Dh that if he has a dual tape recorder in the church setup, that he must be very careful to keep the volume of the player tape away from the input of the recorder tape. Otherwise, a feedback loop will be setup resulting in an awful howling that frightens the daylight out of everyone. I know, I learnt by trial and much error!. The simple method is to turn off the volume of whichever deck is not being used. has anyone heard from Gary recently? Buddy

Marleneann, there would be a bus that would take you into the city and then a train that goes to Fremantle from there. It's about 30 minutes on the train to Fremantle from the city. I'm not sure how long the bus would take. I could find out for you though. I've heard that it's not as expensive here as it is in the eastern states for public transport. You can use a public transport ticket on the bus/train/ferry for 1.5 hours for the same price. I've just been trying to check out the Transperth site, but it seems to be down. If you allow $20 each way, I imagine that would be more than enough, as I hear that it is a private bus company that goes into the city. I'm not sure if Transperth has a bus that goes into the city. Will have to wait for the site to come back up to find out.

Good morning to you all. I am knitting a scarf for my grandchild out of that STUPID feathers yarn. I am going insane! Can't see what I am doing ....if I am adding or lost a stitch. I am an experienced knitter but this is really testing me. IT WILL NOT BEAT ME....I will go on and see the finished garment! Thanks for letting me get that off my chest *G* Hugs for all, Marleneann.

Marleneann, how are you knitting with the feathers. I'm knitting it at the moment, and I'm knitting 2 balls of wool together on 4mm needles. I know what you mean about it not being the easies thing to knit. My first attempt or 2 ended up being disastrous, but now I'm going pretty well with it.

Still having a rough time with the knitting! The pattern calls for the feathers wool to be knitted in single yarn. Pulled out five hours of work and had to start again because I dropped a stitch and couldn't find it. I have decided not to do any knitting at night as I need bright light to cope with this task. OK...how is everyone? Our thread has gone a little quiet so this post should put us up near the top again. The weeks are going by so quickly ....I'm getting old fast *G* Hugs for you all, Marleneann.

What could I have to say about knitting? Well, my mother was a prodigious knitter and as a young fella, I use to sit and watch her for hours. My older sister married a RAAF guy who use to knit - very suspect for awhile, then I learned that pilots in World War I/II used to knit to pass the time, keep their nerves steady, their bodies warm, as they went off to battle. A younger sister, when she got married, reckoned she didn't have the time to knit so she got stuck into a knitting machine and became very productive in short time. And in the word of God, God uses the expertness of knitting to demonstrate His work upon us! Psa 139:13 For it was You who created my inward parts; You knit me together in my mother's womb. (Holman Christian Standard Bible + at least 2 others) Nice quite afternoon at here, Buddy
