ORIGINAL: christsstar Janine --- yes, I have NO external mucus until AFTER my temp spikes and my internal mucus is either really infertile or non-existent. If I went solely by my external mucus I'd be very wrong in my guess of my fertility. Good Morning! I'm Super excited! I'm starting to really understand the boards and I have you to thank for that. Ya know, I'm willing to bet that isn't 'abnormal'. I'm sure that's partially why they stress the internal checking even more then the external. It always produces better results. Hm. I wonder if there is a vitamin deficiency issue? I can give you my NFP person's email addy and you can email and ask her. They are great, patient, and super helpful. I bet they may have a suggestion or two. Just let me know.

blessings - Are you breastfeeding? From what little I know in this area; I've heard your chances are pretty slim to null - Especially if you are breastfeeding 90 percent or more.

3toraiseup, you can do free online charting on http://www.fertilityfriend.com You can sign up for the free membership and have basic options or do the VIP membership for a fee. It's nice because you can chart on any computer (web based) and I like that the computer pinpoints ovulation for you. You can also download blank charts here: http://cycledaily.com/download.htm

Blessings - I am clueless in that department, but I know there are others in this thread that know ALLLLL about that. I hope they see this and post to you soon. Just know that, from what I've heard, you should be fine - especially if you are breastfeeding 90% of the time or more. Hugs to you. :) Jae

I'm curious about HOW the ladies here chart. I do mine on pencil and paper, and the chart I use is from ccli. Anyone have a different chart, or chart online? I'm interested in the fertilityfriend charting online, because I think it marks when you are supposed to be fertile.

I'm glad I'm not charting yet. My body is in a state of hormonal confusion. LOL Hannah is two months old today. I keep thinking I'm going to start my period again. Tiny bit of spotting for a couple days and then nothing. Some days I've been horribly dry and need KY to have sex (I've heard this is normal when breastfeeding). Now this morning, mucous, mucous, mucous! But not the fertile kind. What the? Oh, who knows.... Someday things will go back to normal, right? RIGHT?!

My next question is where do I go to buy a basal thermometer? Would they have them at a pharmacy? I remember that some of you bought yours at Amazon but we can't get anything from Amazon in Canada except books, CDs, movies, etc.

Regarding spotting at the begining of your cycle -- you only count it as the first day if it is red bleeding. Some people have irregular shedding which is brown spotting that precedes actual menstrual flow for a few days even up to a week. If you have irregular shedding it does not count as 'Day 1', rather it is the end of your previous cycle. 3blessings: bleeding that begins in the first 50 something days following childbirth does not count as 'resumed periods'. We are in the process of moving cross country right now and I don't have time to access to my NFP book, but when I am able, I'll post more on that in a couple weeks. Meanwhile, maybe someone else will chime in. Blessings, Kati

Anybody know if there are celcius charts available online anywhere? It seems they only sell celcius basal thermometers in Canada and I need to know whether it's worth ordering a fahrenheit one from elsewhere.

The CCLI charts (www.ccli.org I think) have celsius on one side, and farenheit on the other. The charts are not expensive at all...I think about $3.00 for 2 years worth of charts. And they even say you could xerox them instead of buying more.

Kati, Is there anything wrong if you have irregular shedding? I always wondering what that was! Thanks for the info!

ORIGINAL: Tammy_The_Third Kati, Is there anything wrong if you have irregular shedding? I always wondering what that was! Thanks for the info! Not neccessarily. There are a variety of causes... ovarian cysts, nutritional deficiencies, post-partum/breastfeeding to name a few. It isn't a neccessarily a problem and can be quite normal (as in the case of post partum periods). It depends on the cause. If someone is trying to conceive and has irregular shedding, it would be worth looking into. Also, irregular shedding might be a sign of a shortened luteal phase (phase III) which would impact your 'safe' days in NFP. (Rather than a 2 week phase III, it might only be 7-10 days). As such, it would be wise to attempt correction so that phase III would be extended.
