not necessarily when we're trying, but rather to space them out. We've never really talked about BC options between children.

As much as I don't like the idea of condoms, I actually prefer sex with them. It makes clean up easier and it's overall more comfortable to use them. DH is so paranoid that he'd rather use them than not.

Flintejae -> RE: Natural Family Planning ---- Questions, Answers, and Support (read OP for poll question) (5/12/2005 12:37:26 PM)

Christine - I was just bragging on you in another thread. :)

LOL @ clean-up. I SO WISH someone had given me a heads up on 'clean up' before I got married. I had NO CLUE sex was so messy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Books, movies - no one ever mentioned the mess! [sm=icon_smile_blush.gif] I got all freaked out until I realized that it was normal. [sm=icon_smile_blush.gif]

Now that J and I are HAVING SEX AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we get to decide if we are going to abstain, use condoms, or just 'do it' and see what God wants.

I must admit, though, that I have been lax on any type of journaling. I read when I am going to be fertile and when I am 'done' - then I go on my way. I 'knew' that my period was coming soon, but I wasn't sure when. Well, this morning my stomach was all icky and I couldn't figure out WHY. I was like, "dang, am I sick - is this my IBS - is it stress?!?!?!" Then i went to the bathroom and laughed. Here I was being "Mrs. Doctor" trying to overanalyze the simple fact that I got my period. [8|]

I just read that in the other thread Janine. Thanks. [:)]

I'm so happy you and Jason are making progress Janine. That's sooooo awesome.

We were told about the mess, and expected it, but it's still annoying. And I really gotta wonder, how in teh world do women actually get pregnant if most of it comes back out anyway. [&:] I know I know, it only takes one, but still! I guess since we're not active durign fertile times, that changes that stuff too.

And for the mess, we keep a washcloth by our bed when we have sex.

anne-girl -> RE: Natural Family Planning ---- Questions, Answers, and Support (read OP for poll question) (5/12/2005 1:18:13 PM)

Mess? Just how messy is it? And when? ie before/during/right after/long after? And who gets messiest? I knew about period sex but I didn't think regular was messy too. My bf is a neat freak. [:o][;)]

christsstar -> RE: Natural Family Planning ---- Questions, Answers, and Support (read OP for poll question) (5/12/2005 1:24:17 PM)

without going into TMI .... afterward is messiest for us. let's just say condoms keep the messy stuff contained so as not to get all over the bed when gravity starts working.

We're also messy because we use lube, and that adds a bit of messiness.

LOL!![sm=icon_smile_faint.gif]

On a serious note, I hear what you're saying. It is good for women to know these things so they don't freak out or get turned off by something that is totally normal.

christsstar -> RE: Natural Family Planning ---- Questions, Answers, and Support (read OP for poll question) (5/12/2005 2:00:29 PM)

yep ... exactly!

Flintejae -> RE: Natural Family Planning ---- Questions, Answers, and Support (read OP for poll question) (5/12/2005 2:15:15 PM)

Yup, without too much TMI -

It's a natural 'gravity' thing. Whatever goes 'up' must come 'down'. So, the messiest is afterwards. It depends on 'who' with well, positions. [:D]

It's easy to clean up - we usually have a small handtowel underneath or near. :) I just didn't know it was giogn to be messy so I thought something was 'wrong' or 'weird'. [sm=icon_smile_blush.gif]

Side note to all that... I'm told that women should make sure they go potty afterwards to prevent a urinary track infection. I guess that happened to my friend on her honeymoon. She gave me that piece of advice and thankfully I've never had one of those. I guess the spermies may go places they don't belong, but going to the bathroom clears that all up? I"m not sure, exactly.

Flintejae -> RE: Natural Family Planning ---- Questions, Answers, and Support (read OP for poll question) (5/12/2005 2:18:28 PM)

oh and pregnancy stuff... I've been told that, if you want to get pregnant, it's good for the woman to stay laying down with a pillow underneath her knees for like a half hour after intercourse. It allows more to, well, stay up there. [:D][;)]

I'm in a mood today, aren't I? I guess it's cause I'm FINALLY GETTING SOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEAH!!! [sm=angelhalo.gif] [sm=icon_smile_blush.gif]

christsstar -> RE: Natural Family Planning ---- Questions, Answers, and Support (read OP for poll question) (5/12/2005 2:32:17 PM)

Going to the bathroom afterwards is WONDERFUL. And I do it because otherwise it all leaks out later anyway. [&:]

Reminds me of a movie where a gal was trying to get pregnant... you see them getting started, and then in the next scene you see her doing a prolonged handstand to try to give gravity a helping hand. LOLOL!

I just wish my BF had a place like this where he could ask questions. I figure, if it's on your mind anyhow you may as well use that preoccupation to get yourself educated. [;)]

Flintejae -> RE: Natural Family Planning ---- Questions, Answers, and Support (read OP for poll question) (5/12/2005 4:34:58 PM)

LOLOLOL!!! I know some who would actually try that! [:D]

Tell your boyfriend to check out our website. There is a pretty awesome guys folder too (from what I hear/would imagine). [8|]

uponeagleswings -> RE: Natural Family Planning ---- Questions, Answers, and Support (read OP for poll question) (5/13/2005 11:59:22 PM)

Janine,
I'm SO glad your guys' marriage is on an upswing!! I've been looking around for the thread where you said you posted about it first, and I can't find it. Care to provide a link?
Keeping you guys in prayer...and we can praise with you too!

Flintejae -> RE: Natural Family Planning ---- Questions, Answers, and Support (read OP for poll question) (5/14/2005 10:32:24 AM)

Hmmmm I'm not sure? I just randomly posted it in here. I'm just waiting/enjoying/watching where it goes from here before I post something about it. I don't want to look ridiculous if one day I post "Miraculous healing" and a few days later the same ole stuff as before.

But yes, there are definite improvements. I'm hoping it stays in this arena. I know I'm challenging that with how I feel right now... I'm not the greatest nicest funnest person when I feel like yucky stuff. [sm=icon_smile_blush.gif]

GodsGirl -> RE: Natural Family Planning ---- Questions, Answers, and Support (read OP for poll question) (5/14/2005 10:40:25 AM)

Question 1.
Do you do the cervical check? If you do, was it hard for you to actually go in and check? (I have major issues with touching myself)
Yes, until I kept saying... this is for a baby.. come on baby..

Question 2.
Oral, vaginal or rectal temp?
Oral totally.

Question 3.
do you really use TP to check for mucus after you pee? Seems kinda, ummmm, contaminatory.
Nope, I figured I really wouldn't be able to see which is was for sure.

Question 4.
How many 'symptoms' do you track?
All.
Question 5.
If you read The Art of NFP, did their use of the term "coitus" instead of "sex" get on your nerves? [/quote]

Nope, I haven't but I have seen it on TTC and Fertility forums and it drives me crazy there.

To prevent this going in my siggy but yet would like to share.. cause I only have two more days..

Tea-Tea -> RE: Natural Family Planning ---- Questions, Answers, and Support (read OP for poll question) (5/16/2005 10:20:31 AM)

Okay, do any of you confuse your days on your chart? I'm in my second month of charting and during both months, I've messed up my chart somehow! I charted my temp this morning and my symptoms from yesterday on yesterday's block...and I looked at the date and my today's temp was on yesterday's date...I must have missed a day somewhere. I usually mark completely through the days I miss temping. Maybe I need a red pen or something that will show up better. [&:] Any suggestions on how to make your chart clearer on what day is what? I was thinking about highlighting every other column too.

Maybe my problem is I chart first thing in the morning when I'm still groggy! Maybe I should write my temp down and chart later that night. [8|]

anne-girl -> RE: Natural Family Planning ---- Questions, Answers, and Support (read OP for poll question) (5/16/2005 10:31:25 AM)

I did that too Tammy. I figured it wasn't the biggest deal in the world, since I'm doing this as a kinda trial run.

I do have a couple of questions though. When you're drawing the coverline, do you think it still has to be 0.2 degrees higher when you're tracking in Celcius? It took about three days for my temps to get above the coverline after my peak, which seems weird. And is it weird to have your post-peak temps pretty much the same as your pre-peak temps? My temps are only a little higher--some of them dip below the coverline. Maybe because I'm sick, I dunno.

christsstar -> RE: Natural Family Planning ---- Questions, Answers, and Support (read OP for poll question) (5/16/2005 11:54:45 AM)

know ... 1 deg celcius is bigger than a deg F.

I'd do a couple months to see what an average spike is and then figure it out.

Because it's a sliding conversion scale between F and C, it's hard to say exactly what it should be.

Tea-Tea -> RE: Natural Family Planning ---- Questions, Answers, and Support (read OP for poll question) (5/16/2005 12:19:47 PM)

Jen, glad I'm not the only one! This is all preliminary for me too but I sure want to get it right! [:D] lol

anne-girl -> RE: Natural Family Planning ---- Questions, Answers, and Support (read OP for poll question) (5/29/2005 6:26:26 PM)

So I just finished reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility. What a great book! I think when/if I get married we'll definitely use FAM. Even if I don't get married, I'd probably continue to track. I'm just so fascinated by all the complicated stuff our bodies go through every month!

I also think it's pretty cool to be able to discern to a pretty good extent how easy a time you would have trying to get pregnant. I really want kids, so it's reassuring to know that there's nothing majorly wrong with me--or at least, nothing majorly wrong that could be diagnosed before trying to get pregnant. [sm=icon_smile_approve.gif]

I'm just thankful that I was not raised to think my body was dirty or yucky. I couldn't see myself checking some of these symptoms if I weren't comfortable in my own skin. Thanks mom! [;)]

christsstar -> RE: Natural Family Planning ---- Questions, Answers, and Support (read OP for poll question) (5/29/2005 6:28:54 PM)

That's great Anne. It really is a neat process and I'm kind of sad that our society hides and is ashamed our bodies' natural stuff so much.

I'm very happy that I turned to NFP/FAM thanks to the ladies here. Flintjae, especially, was my biggest inspiration for trying it out. Well, that and the pill was not happy with my husband. [8|]

Flintejae -> RE: Natural Family Planning ---- Questions, Answers, and Support (read OP for poll question) (5/30/2005 5:23:45 PM)

[:)][:D][:)] @ Christine

Anne - I suggest you start practicing NFP now. It will help you TREMENDOUSLY when you do get married to know your body well prior. Cause, lets be real, with all the stress of planning/organizing and FINALLY getting to have sex - the last thing you want to do is learn something new!

My two cents. :)

anne-girl -> RE: Natural Family Planning ---- Questions, Answers, and Support (read OP for poll question) (5/30/2005 5:27:21 PM)

Oh, I'm already charting--guess my last post wasn't too clear. What I mean is that NFP/FAM would be our primary means of birth control. Right now it's fascinating but it's not exactly birth control if you're not married, is it? [;)] The book strongly recommends that you get the hang of it for a few months before relying on it as a primary means of birth control anyhow, but at least it's made up my mind to try this first before going on the pill or something.

Janine - UTI's are caused when sexual activity "pushes" germs into our urinary tract (usually by the thrusting). These are our OWN germs, not from our husbands. Urinating straight after sex flushes the germs out of the urinary tract.

Washing oneself prior would also lessen the chances of getting an UTI.

ta_mosquito -> RE: Natural Family Planning ---- Questions, Answers, and Support (read OP for poll question) (5/30/2005 8:56:55 PM)

OK, ladies, I'm finally joining you - I'm jumping into this NFP thing! [:D]

Today I ordered the self-study kit from ccli.org (I sure hope it's worth $80!), and I downloaded a little shareware program from hormonalforecaster.com (thought it was a free program, but it turns out it's a 45 day free trial and $30 after that [&:]).

I'm jumping into this with both feet! [8|]

My question (and I didn't read all the posts in here yet, so it may have been answered) is this: how do you check your cervix position? (I suppose the CCLI stuff will tell me, but I'm starting in on this stuff before I get my kit).

What do you ladies use/do during your fertile period? Based on a 28 day cycle, it turns out I'll be ovulating 2 days after my (tentative) wedding! [:@]
