I have a question about hubby's. Are all of yours totally "in" to nfp/fam or are they nervous about it?

Umm ... I started charting about 6 mos before we got married, so I could show my hubby what the charts were like and when we would have to abstain/use protection during each cycle. He was, I think, a bit nervous about it, but I had him read a fair chunk of an NFP book, so he had a good understanding of what we were going to be doing and why. He occasionally asked questions (like "Umm ... should we be doing this now?" - LOL), but pretty much was confident that I knew what was going on. He also saw what BCP did to me and how much better I felt off of them.

I do think, though, that if he keeps mentioning the pills, you need to sit down and have a good heart-to-heart and let him know that he has to be committed to the method for it to work and that you would like him to look through the links you've sent and really talk about which method you'd like to use!

So we talked about it, and I think my fiance and I both feel a little silly... We reaffirmed that he needs to read the relevant chapters of TCOYF (which has been sitting on his shelf since January) and he said that the last time I explained the 'abortifacient' stuff it really started to make sense. BUT... the whole comment that irked me and started this last stressful discussion was based on a misunderstanding. He saw an ad for NuvaRing and didn't know it had hormones... he basically thought it was like a diaphragm. So I just assumed that he knew all about how it worked and got offended...
We just need to get married and be in the same place! We've really had to not be alone lately so communication gets rough when you can't be face-to-face alone. Thanks for the support and encouragement ladies! You're the best.

Could you both sit down with your pastor and his wife and have a discussion about this? Or maybe you could find a mature woman (with a mature husband) in your church that feels the same about hormonal birth control as you do and have this discussion with them? That way you could discuss it without being alone and you'd not be tempted to sin.

Good for you guys setting boundaries! Trust me, it will be well worth it. Can you meet to talk in a quiet restaurant/coffee shop? That way you won't have an audience to your conversation, but there will still be "witnesses".

Yippee! I'm on CD10, and I can tell the changes in CF. It's waterier than yesterday, but not EW yet. I'm also beginning to differentiate btwn CF and VF.

How important is temping? I just don't get up at the same time every day. I don't see that in the foreseeable future, either. My understanding is that the Billings Method is FAM without temps, and is slighly less reliable, but still alright.

Thanks,
Michelle

Michelle - temping's really only important if you're avoiding. If you're trying, then it doesn't much matter! The only thing temping verifies (for most people) is that you have indeed, ovulated. Since you can have many 'patches' of EWCF and not actually ovulate, then the drying up sign of the fluid may mean you've ovulated or not. When you're trying, all that means is that EW = potentially very fertile, so every time you see the EWCF, you wanna BD during those times. If you're trying to avoid, there's no guarantee with the Billings method that you *have* ovulated (unless you have secondary, less reliable symptoms like ovulation pain) until you get your period. The temp rise = you've ovulated, a patch of EWCF means that you may be ovulating, but some people have patches of EWCF and then anovulatory bleeding.

Wow. That was a run-on post. Any questions?

They are AMAZING. I found this TCOYF forum, and there are 18 pages of birth stories. They are pretty cool! It's good to hear some "Textbook" stories. Many of the women around me have had many, many problems with conception, pregnancy, and labor. (and, I learned that there ARE IV drugs to prevent puking!!)

Yes, but only if you're not allergic to them . I remember the first month I charted I was AMAZED at what my body was doing and so sad that I didn't know more about it before! I think every woman should learn fertility awareness just because it helps you understand your body so well! Glad you enjoyed the birth stories =) Positive birth stories are GREAT to read!!

Hmmm....okay, I had EW on CD10 and CD11. Is that "normal"? In the book, all of the examples are closer to CD15.???

Thanks,
Michelle

Congrats on your fun, Michelle!!

As for CF dates, the 'classic' cycle is a 28-day cycle, with ovulation occurring around day 14. HOWEVER, since everyone is different, ovulation can occur earlier or later! With seeing EWCF on days 10 and 11, I would venture a guess that your cycle is around 24 or 25 days long as opposed to 28 days. I generally ovulated around day 20 or 21, and thus had a 33 to 35 day cycle. Does that help?

Or you could have EWCF longer than some other people. I tend to have it start around day 10 or 11 also and I don't ovulate early or have short cycles.

Not having charted before, not really, at least, I think some of what I'm experiencing is just newbie ambiguity. EW, however, is unmistakable.

My cycle is about 33 days, I think. Slightly longer than a calendar month. That's why I thought it was so weird to find EW on CD10. I've noticed that, too, in non-charted cycles pretty early in the cycle, too. And, I'd pee on a OPK, just out of curiousity, but they were negative. I didn't think too much about that, though, because I wasn't charting, just curious. I didn't OPK this cycle.

So...today, I swear the cervix is more open and softer than yesterday/day before, but CF is watery, maybe milky. Hmmm.... Cervix height seems to be all over the place. I think that one will take more experience.

I'm not expecting you guys to solve my abiguity, althought if you have info, I'll take it . I think I'm just noting things that don't seem "textbook" to me to help me process and gain awareness.

Thanks, ladies!

~Michelle

ROFLOL! Maaaaan! I want to be married already!

Ladies, I haven't posted here in a long time and this is because I have stopped charting. I don't know. I guess I have been kinda discouraged. I have to change so many things about myself, including simply keeping a place clean. The thought of being consistent with charting is a little overwhelming for me right now. I'm 34. My DF will be 42 when we get married and it will be the first time for the both of us. I'm hoping to talk to someone for a little motivation, before I talk more about it with DF.

above_all,

I wish you the best of luck with GREAT sex when you get married. It took S I X long and painful years for us to have that quickie, so I want to share some REALLY IMPORTANT information that I didn't have.

NEVER EVER DTD IF THERE"S EVEN AN INKLING OF PAIN.

(that seems so obvious, i know....but...anyway....)

And, I'm so impressed that your guy is 42 and you'll be his first! Wow!

um, just to clarify... you should expect at least some "uncomfortableness" if not "pain" (although it shouldn't be really really bad) at least at first.
