Hello all I am Karen and I am new to this forum.

I just finished " My sisters Keeper"by Jodi Picoult which was a great fast read. Great story line with no violence, little sexual references and a little bad language.

and 90 Minutes in Heaven: A True Story of Death & Life by Don Piper just an amazing story about a minister who dies and is in Heaven for 90 min and retell his accounts of heaven as well as his road to recovery and how God used him back on earth. A MUST READ

I am currently reading the "Secret Life of Bees" by Sue Monk Kidd and "The Last Lecture" by Randy Pausch I highly recommend this book. Randy was a professor at Carnegie-Mellon Univ. and has three children under 5, he has cancer and only has a few months to live. The book is his legacy of life for his children. I pray for his family each night.

In the past I have really enjoyed all of Karen Kingsbury's books.

Anyway, I look forward to everyones suggestions

Hi Karen!

I've just started "Machete Season: The Killers In Rwanda Speak" by Jean Hatzfield.

I've read a lot about the genocide in Rwanda, but nothing that really gets into why the killers had no problem following orders to kill their neighbours. This should be an interesting read.

As a professional writer, sometimes I'm given galleys to read for a possible endorsement (and I do the same when I have something new coming out). Right now I'm reading a novel by Christian suspense master Alton Gansky, a spec-fic piece called Enoch. I'm about two-thirds through, and so far it's simply one of the most spellbinding works I've ever read. If it finishes as strong as I think it will, everyone will definitely want to put this on their Christmas list (it releases this fall through Realms publishing).

I notice that this thread was started in 2005. Because of it's unwieldy length -- 80+ pages -- no newcomer is going to wade through the whole thing.

So, here's a suggestion...

Can we start a new thread each month? That will make it much more manageable and inviting.

Unless you are going for the "Longest Thread" title, in which case have at 'er!

The way you are suggesting is what we used to do! There was a new one every month. I think there was a tangle of threads - some people moved to the new months thread, and some still posted on the old months thread. It was confusing as to where you were to post, and you had to check several threads to make sure you'd read everything.

This thread is different - I don't think there is an expectation that anyone would read the entire thread, but just the more recent posts. Personally, I care more about what people are reading today, than what they were reading 2 years ago.

I wonder if some disclainer could be added to the first post - telling people to go to the current posts?

Besides - I don't think anyone could catch up the "hate Harry" threads....for longest threads - hehe

I think it's a good suggestion. Very long threads can certainly be daunting and just not worth the time of tackling them.

I think that's a good idea, but a mod would need to lock the older threads so we didn't end up with the three "What Are You Reading This Month" threads going at the same time, like we had before that floydette is remembering.

Since this is just an informational thread more than a chat thread I like it as it is. I tend to forget to unsubscribe to the old and subscribe to the new. The older I get the easier I like it.

I am currently reading "They Call Me Naughty Lola: Personal Ads From the London Review of Books."

It's a collection of some of the most hilarious (and yet serious) personal ads.
