I think there's a decent explanation for that as well. Suppose I was to take some time off of writing and speaking. I wouldn't really need my personal website (danielmount.com) during that time.
But I would still play the $5 or $6 per month for the hosting (and, since I had the hosting, keep the old site up) for a very simple reason. If I keep the domain and keep the site live, then I am not running the chance of someone else snatching it up when I let it lapse.

Ok, yeah I have been reading it too...here goes.
Arron Crisler set up the site over a year ago. He said he would help us change things once it was up and running. After Jeremy Peace left, Brandon asked me to take it over. (Jeremy was maintaining the site.)
Since I took it over, I have kept the dates updated and the news. I have attempted numerous times, to "get into" the site and add pictures, and other features, but the truth is, I don't know how to do all the things that needs to be done. It irratates me as well, but I can only do what I know to do.
I have learned how to do certain things, mainly thru trial and error.
We are talking with the webmaster's who built "The Isaacs" website, about redoing our website, and I promise when they rebuild it, I will have the codes and know how to change and update it.
I KNOW how to work the Kingsmen Myspace, and that is updated daily. The website will be as well.
WE care about our fans and friends staying in contact with The Kingsmen via the internet.
Thank you for being patient with us.

I received this message last evening from Bryan after sending him a message thru the Kingsmen myspace site. I wanted to post this here so that all would know and have actual information about the website. Hope this helps and settles all the questions.

That is an answer that will do as an explanation. It is a shame that their website is basically setting idle due to the reasons Bryan gave. One of my original points were that a lot more older(oops) fans look for for the easiest way to get to any website and http://kingsmenquartet.com/20072/index.html for them is the best route.
I have website experience and even I don't care for MySpace, From my point of view it is not that user friendly to those that are close to being Web/PC illiterate.
For me that is the end of my thoughts on the Kingsmen website.

I'm one of those older fans and I don't go to myspace for various reasons. I know some of the sites are ok but I just have a thing about myspace that I dislike. I keep up with SG Groups appearances through their webpage schedule, the agents schedule and Singing News. The booking agents has a schedule of all the artist they represent and a couple of them has them listed by states. One has all the concerts that their artist has booked all through 2009. So it's easy to make plans this way.

The more I listen to the Kingsmen's new CD and really the last couple, the more something bugs me. I'm not sure I love Phillip Hughes as a lead singer in this particular group. I spent yesteday listening to some of my older Kingsmen CDs and then listened to this new one. I dont know if its just him, or if it has to do with arrangement, but for me (and this is just a personal preference, not a slight against him) but I think he sings too high for a lead. I noticed, and my wife agreed after listening, that some songs, when they go from a Tenor part to lead part, it sounds like 2 tenors. Now, on songs where all 4 guys are singing together, its not as noticable. I really like the Bryan Hutson, Randy Crawford type lead voice better. Tim Surrett was a little high too, but it seemed that his voice and the tenor's were enough different, that it worked.
This is coming strictly from someone who like listening to a group, not someone who knows anything about keys or pitch or anything like that.
I have read some on the Gold City thread about how someone didnt like a particluar part because it was the wrong pitch. I havent the foggiest about that, I just know what is pleasing to the ears and what isnt.

Also, let me say, that I do like Phillip. Listening to the songs where he is out front singing, he has a terrific voice, I just dont think it meshes well with this quartet's sound, when they are singing traditional SG songs.

I have a solution for the guys that dont like myspace.
Just have someone on here, (tenorsister seems to know alot about it) paste some addresses. click those and then save that page in your favorites. Then you can access the groups myspace pages without having to traverse myspace yourself. I dont blame you for not liking some of the stuff that is on myspace. This will keep you from being exposed to stuff you dont like.

I have a funny line from Ray Dean Reece from back when the group changed from the Kingsmen to Carolina Boys.
It was at Dollywood in October of 2001 if Im not mistaken. He said that his idea for the new group name was:
Ray Dean Reece and Reece's Pieces!!!!
That was one of my favorite lines of his.

Well the Kingsmen did just switch tenors when Phil was singing lead - if he's a natural tenor you'd have thought he would've taken the position and had Bryan sing the lead again. Obviously, Phil is more comfortable at lead.

yeah, seems as if it would have made sense to do that. I dont know if Phillip is considered a tenor, but he is very high sometimes. I always wondered if it was weird for Bryan to sing the same songs he used to sing, but sing a differnent part, same as when Tim did that. Left as lead and came back as baritone. Maybe its no big deal to him, being a professional.

I totally agree with you tenorsister...there is nothing that can be done, but I have always enjoyed sharing opinions and discussing things, even things that I have no way of or desire of controlling.
BTW, I'm not at all skeptical of harold. After hearing him on the new cd and hearing him do some of the old stuff on youtube, I like his tone very much.
I read something on another thread about stacking vocals. What is this, and how is it done, if anyone knows?

Stacking vocals is merely recording yourself singing your part, and then recording again (and again) over that part singing it the same way. Many groups even use them in live settings - other than for solos, they have their part recorded and playing in the soundtrack so it's not so hard on their voices.

Yes, that is the one. It was at Fairfield, IL. Harold kept referring to "that little one", and said that that little one inspired him (to sing really high on a song) after the little boy, his older brother, and their Dad sang together. I think I saw them getting a picture made together, but they did not sing on stage together.

I never cared for Phillip Hughes as a lead singer. Yes, he can sing high, but his voice does not reach out and grab you the way the lead singer should do. When you hear Bryan Hutson on the melody, there is a better blend. Phillip's voice is too thin to sing lead.

I know you weren't implying that. I just thought it was a good place to say that I do like him as the new tenor!!!! I like the fact that he is a big guy too. There are enough little guy tenors out there, make room for the Big Man!!!

Bill I was not implying you thought this of Harold but rathr just stating what had been a concern in the past. Thank you for your kind words on his snging. As I always say "I have had to hear that kid sing every since our mom and dad brought him home.....I'm just glad he finally got it right!" LOL
Let'ds just feel free to share our opinions at any time because as you said we can do so let's just "discuss".

I have the opportunity to see the mighty kingsmen tommorow night. I'm helping to promote the concert..so i am excited. Anoother thing...I FINALLY GET TO BUY THE NEW CD! Sometimes its tough to find new releases even though we have stores who carry a pretty strong selection
