The Booth Bros. distracted him, I'm sure!

A Quick Note

I am away for three days this first part of the week, on another volunteer trip. I can't tell you how rewarding these missions are for me. I am so grateful that God placed this opportunity in my life. I feel like I am finding purpose, where for many weeks and months, I felt so lost.

Please keep my travels in your prayers, but especially remember the donor and transplant recipients that I am working for. I know for a fact that my prayer life stays more active when I am on these journeys!

When I return, I plan to give an update on the Bennett family members. We are all doing well and remain

In His Grip,

Debbie

A Bennett Update

Home again from another trip. I was in 7 states, including my own, in the month of April, but it was a very fulfilling month, and I look forward to even more opportunities to travel with the NMDP, helping others in need. (Having said that, though, I need a good night's sleep!)

I seem to be going through another round of sleepless nights lately. Some have to do with dreams. I have been dreaming of Roger a lot lately, but they are dreams that leave me sad when I wake up. In most of them, we are together, and it's good, but it usually ends up with my being unable to get to him, or his inability to join in - like at a concert, or a family outing, or a dinner, or whatever. Anyone who has had unsettling dreams about a lost loved one knows what I am talking about. You start your day in a fog, and it takes a good part of the day to get out of that "blue mood." Nevertheless, I always welcome a chance to "see" him again. It's just that it seems to emphasize how much I have lost with his death....and not only me, but all of us who loved him so much.....

Click HERE to read the rest of Debbie's looooong post! (Thanks, Debbie! )

Yeah, I'm a meanie!

The truth is, I'm excited about going and so is my son. Greater Vision will be there (and so will Donna, aka GVFan), Dr. Charles Stanley, Janet Paschal, Colonel Oliver North, and a few others.

My son and I have already seen them three times this year. When we saw them in January I was telling the guys how many times we were going to see them this year and Scott Howard jokingly said that we should just ride the bus with them. The guys don't know just how close they came to getting two more passengers!

When I told Scott Howard last Friday that I wouldn't be able to make my usual concert so I am attending this one, he said, "Maybe we can get the date changed for you." LOL I thought, I WISH!!

A couple years ago the guys were coming from the south headed to upstate NY and they had to drive right past here. Just think of the gas we would have saved!

We hope to see Dr Stanley this August at Ocean Grove NJ. We were always unable to go down in previous years. But we did get to see Dr Kennedy twice before he died. I hope nothing stands in our way this year, we have several things on the calendar. July 3rd is the Centennial birthday for the Ocean Grove organ. On the program is the Philadelphia Brass Ensemble, 300 seat choir, guest organist, Dr Turk, and 6,500 of us there to enjoy!!! Someone gave the funds for them to install an Echo Division in the rear gallery. I was totally shocked to hear they again enlarged the 10,000+ pipe organ.....You have never heard old hymns like down there. I am telling you, you have never gotten Glory Bumps till you hear Dr Turk play Crown Him With Many Crowns. He plays with the full capacity of the organ, simply indescribable.....

He needs to be a little more careful about what he says because we're going to start holding him to it!

Ours came yesterday and I got a great big surprise! We didn't order tickets until too late to get the VIP tickets (for the best seats). We were disappointed because one time we got seats in the very back and we really wanted to be closer. Long story short, they put us on a "waiting list" and somebody must have cancelled because we got the tix we wanted!!!

Two weeks from now we'll be sittin' in Nashville listening to the best music in this world!!!!

I just looked at my tickets. We're in section 5, row J (10 rows from the stage), seats 10 & 11. We also get the Saturday breakfast.

We're Saturday breakfast, too! We're section 4, Row A, seats 1 & 2. Do you know how the "sections" are laid out??

Noticed on SouthernGospelReporter.com's Front Page player that it has the first single off of Legacy Five's upcoming God's Been Good project, "Hello After Goodbye." According to a recent L5 newsletter, it is a tribute to the late Roger Bennett, written shortly after Bennett's funeral by Jim Brady of the Booth Brothers.
Very good, powerful song. I can see it making at least Top 5 on the charts. If it's any reflection of the rest of the project, this is gonna be a good 'un, folks. Their last release, Know So Salvation, was good, but not great. Although, it seems it was good enough to make the Top 5 in the Fan Awards this year....
Go over and give the song a listen!

I don't remember how it was last year but I think your section is center stage.

Family Time

Chelsea, Jordan, and I just got back last night from a little family vacation. It was particularly great, since these times together are fewer and farther between with "grown" children. We had a wonderful time, visiting several major theme parks. However, I did find out that my 46 year old body wears out a lot faster than a 21 or 23 year old's body does!! That didn't stop my getting on every roller coaster ride they did, and we trekked many miles over the 3 days we were there. These are great memories, and we talked a lot about Roger, since he would have loved being there, too. In fact, we did take this particular vacation as a family more than once. Bittersweet.....

We found ourselves laughing one moment, then being close to tears another, remembering times we had together. It is priceless to have the memories, but painful to realize that those times are over. I sometimes wonder if the happy times will ever outweigh the sadness.

Overall, we still are doing fine. Life goes on, and we keep busy. Jordan is pursuing new employment, Chelsea is working, and we are both getting geared up for our upcoming mission trip to Poland, gathering funds, and juggling schedules. The summer is getting full already, and I am wondering how to get it all done.

Oh, yes, I had a request to re-post my address, so here goes:

Debbie Bennett - 4235 Little Pond Lane - Thompsons Station, TN 37179.

Hope to see many of you at the Legacy Five Celebration. I am still unsure which day I will be there, but I am leaning toward Saturday afternoon and evening.

Until then, I remain

In His Grip,

Debbie

That is a wonderful song! I can't wait to get the new cd, and I'm looking forward to the new dvd too. Unfortunately I won't be at the Celebration, but they said the DVD should be available at some christian book stores, too.
