So do ya think you killed your nerve endings? LOL!

Sorry - couldn't resist.

My suggestion would be to "bear down" until the cup resides at the vaginal opening and then reach up and break the suction at the top of the cup. That's what I have always done, and I've never had pain taking it out!

Another plus: I had to go to the ER last night and they made me strip. Completely. I was SO glad I was using my Keeper instead of another method

OK. Glad the Keeper was a saver there.

Are you OK???

Eh, I will be. I have Type B Influenza (according to the doc, it should be type N for Nasty!). But there was a chance that I had pneumonia (I went in because I could barely breathe) and I think that's why they wanted me gowned. They may have had to admit me.

*sprays the thread liberally with lysol*

She has the flu--- BUT I am told by a nurse that she is past being contagious.

* sprays some more- just to be safe *

I am glad the needle/thread thing worked for you christsstar

Jen, Awesome that the Keeper kept your issue where it needed to be- a personal thing.

My diva is still awesome. I LOVE it. My Teenybopper has not tried her lunette in a long while.

I am so contagious! LOL...still coughing. Nurse Cindy says that as long as I'm coughing "infected spittle droplets" into the air, you could catch it from me

Yeah, I was very grateful. He did know, though, 'cause they asked me several times if I could be pregnant. Since they don't tend to take "no, 'cause I haven't had sex" as a truthful answer, "I'm on my period" seems to satisfy them! LOL

don't you hate that??? just TRUST me.

I was in the ER doing my clinicals for my EMT training and a woman was asked about any other hospitalizations or surgeries. She said she had a hysterectomy a year ago. The VERY next question (by a female nurse) was, "Is there any possibility you're pregnant?"

Ummm....Hmmmm.....think about that one, would ya???

So I have had my second cycle using the instead cups. I have to say that I am very pleased with them. The first month I think I only used them for a day because I was having issues with it not sitting right. But, this past time, I think I got it figured out. They are so much nicer than tampons. I wasn't in pain at all when I used them!! They are a good stepping stone for me until I save up enough for the other cup. I am sold!!!

I loved those (before I had my hysterectomy and no longer had to deal with it!) I came into this thread because I rarely encountered anyone who had a clue what they were and when I saw the title and was curious if they'd finally 'caught on'. I introduced several people to them...you know...the friend at work or girls night that pulls you aside and says: 'Do you have a tampon?'. I'd always have to say no...but....

I explained them to hubby (as non graphically as possible because I knew he was going to be sorry he asked...lol) when I picked up some when we were at the drug store together one time...he was curious and wanted to see one (right out of the package of course...lol) So I showed him and he said that they looked like a bear trap...so that became our own little name for them...was kind of convenient...I could tell my husband that I needed to stop at the store and pick some up in front of anyone without him being embarrassed (he's blushes easily). Of course the other person probably wondered where I planned to go hunting bears...but oh well!

I've had a box of Instead cups in my closet for a couple of years now, and never could get them to fit right.

I decided to try them today, and it seems a lot better. Maybe since I've had a baby it makes a difference?

It did leak a little today, but I'm going to keep trying and see what happens.

The instead cups always leaked a little when I used them. they do not form a seal like the diva cup or mooncup do. There will always be a bit of flow on your tissue when you wipe with the instead cup due to this.

The Instead cup tends to leak when you urinate or deficate. The muscles tip the cup when going to the bathroom. I wear a thin pad with the Instead to catch any mess I couldn't get when wiping. It's still far better than the mess I get with just a pad.

Oh man, I can't believe I overlooked this thread up until now! I'm a diva-cup lover :D. I'm pregnant right now so I can't use it, but the first time I got my period after I bought one I was actually *excited* (lol) because I wanted to try it out so much

Yay! This thread has "cycled" back up again! Any new converts, especially when you think of the $$ savings?

Ok, how do you know when it's time to replace your Keeper? I have had mine for 7 years now.

DO they need to be replaced?
The only reason I've bought more than one Diva is because I killed the first one (left it boiling and the pot boiled dry and cooked the cup).

Well, when I bought it the site said they usually lasted about 10 years..but that's just an estimate. It IS rubber, which is a natural material and will degrade. It is discolored, as well, but I don't know if that's bad or not. I am thinking of getting a Diva when I do replace it simply because of the whole silicon/boilable thing. I used to say I would not do that since they ripped the design from the Keeper people, but I guess whatever lawsuit they had has been settled.

They will discolor, that's natural.

I only replaced my first one because, like Stacy, I boiled it too long. It leaked my next cycle.

I LOVE mine. It's one less thing I have to get at the store every month. And with money as tight as it is right now, I don't want to deal with extra expenses.

Oh, I agree, I have saved hundreds of dollars in the seven years I have had it. It's truly amazing.

How well does the cup work with NFP charting?

I don't follow your question.

I use both, as I think many women here do.

I will assure you that if you are using the diva or mooncup and you attempt to start a family while wearing it your husband might not be happy.

The cup does not mess with your natural hormones like birth control pills, it only catches the menstrual flow.

It shouldn't interfere. And you only use it on days you are menstruating, or, if you are like me, when you think you might start and you are headed to church or someplace else where discovery may be a problem, lol.
