Trish, even if you don't lose weight with the exercises, they will strengthen you and make you healthier. They might help with mood too.

Very true.

Zondie, right now the pain is a lot worse, but I hear the first 3 weeks are the worst. It's not supposed to be so painful after that. She said that it takes a month before things really settle down.

{{{{{{{{{{{Trish}}}}}}}}}} I sure hope the pain subsides soon, and that the therapy works for you.

I'm really concerned about Pengie -- it's not like her to be gone this long. Ms. Pengie, if you are reading this and can give us any information, please do so. We are still praying for you and your mom.

Thanks for your concern, Zondie. Yes, I am taking frequent breaks. Got to. This body just won't go like it used to. I thought I was about finished peeling & scraping, but some more of the one wall that wasn't wanting to peel is now peeling, so I'mstill working on that. Bill helped me move the wardrobe out a while ago, so that was the last piece of furniture to move, and I sold my old treadle sewing machine earlier this evening so it is gone . . . actually, that was rather sad. I liked that old machine . . would have had it for 31 years this summer . . . . But I just have to start paring back, and that piece, tho it made a very pretty piece of furniture, was going to be very hard to move with messing up the floors.

Now I'm read for a shower . . talk to all you good folks tomorrow

I have an old 'Singer' treadle machine. It belonged to my mom and is over 50 yrs. old. So I can relate to what sadness you must feel.

And yes, I'm getting more concerned that we haven't heard from Pengie yet; also. We'll keep praying for you Pengie!

Yes, Zondie, this usually isn't good news when we've not heard from her in so long. I do pray everything is okay.

The treadle machine hadn't belonged to any of the family, but I still hated to let it go. Owell. It's just a 'thing', ya know

I've had a discouraging day. A friend from church had been out here 2 days for 2 hours each day helping me. She's much older than me, and can't do a whole lot, but she was still a big help, and even did some errands on her way out. She needed the money, I needed the help, so it's been a good arrangement for the both of us. But this morning she called me at 7:15 in tears cuz she’d pulled her back out and wasn’t going to be able to help paint. It worried me that she’d done something out here to hurt it, but she assured me that it just goes out and she never has been able to pin down what she’s done. Anyway, she had to go to the chiropractor and wasn’t going to be able to help today, and probably not tomorrow. What a disappointment

I went to town early this morning to get some corner things for the 2 corners, then went BACK to town to get the wider corner things for the ceiling – kinda like crown or cove moulding, but on a smaller scale, I guess.
I bought a mitre saw for the floor, right, so figure no problem, I can miter this for the corners. Not! . . . . Found out that mitering cove molding is SOOOOOO MUCH different than mitering floor baseboard. . . . Well, after at least 20 trips up & down off the step stool, at least 5 trips to the shed, 3 phone calls to try to find someone who someTHING about mitering cove moulding, and 3 hours later, I decide to put all the moulding and trim aside and start the painting, and when the guy comes to put the window in I’ll have him either show me how or do it himself. Now, I just hope he makes it as he promised.

So, somewhere around 4:00 I finally started painting. This time I’m doing a primer tho, and I’ve just finished putting the first coat on. It’s taken me every bit of two hours. Part of the dividing wall will have need another coat (at least!) of primer. The rest I’m truly hoping to get by with one coat of paint, but we’ll see.

Tomorrow, I have to finish the room, put all my paint stuff away, then start emptying the dining room & kitchen. That will take all day, I’m sure. I can’t let myself think about it or I’ll just start crying – as I nearly did today

Now, I think the primer has dried sufficiently to put another coat on the part that will require two coats, so guess I better go do that before I give out completely.

On a good note, I did get to visit with my best friend this morning -- whom I never get to visit with anymore as she is always so busy. I went to the Senior Center where she works and just visited while she was working. It was so nice. I was way too tired to start right off on this room this morning, so that was a good respite for me while I had my McD's coffee. By the time I left there, I was ready to go to work

Oh dear, Leah! You're into so much work, and now your help can't help! But just reading your post has me even more anxious to get started in my bedroom. I just have to wait until I can afford it. (Maybe the rebate check?) Anyway, everybody who knows me, knows that I have pictures of things going on in my head as they tell me their 'stories'. Example: if you say elephant...I see a big bull elephant swinging his ears in the wind, as he stirs up dust with his big steps, and bellowing out like a loud trumpet through his trunk. (I've got a very active imagination! ) So, I've been imagining the details of your work as you fill us in. And well, as tiring as it all has to be...I'm excited to get started on mine! You're so blessed to already have this much done! And I just know it will be beautiful! Just keep reminding yourself that when it's completed that you'll have more time for more enjoyable things!

Hi Trish! (love those heartfelt hugs!)
(((((((Pengie))))))) Please send angels of mercy and comfort her way, Father!

I stayed several days (and nights) at Linda's home last summer and I can promise you that she has a very beautiful place that's well decorated.

Thank you both, Zondie & Maggie -- for the encouragement and for your kind words about my house, Maggie! And I think that you guys have given me just the encouragement I need to go in and finish. It's been a not-so-productive day. Had to call another friend out this morngin to help hold the cove moulding up so I could nail it in place. By the time we did that, it was so late I decided not to paint cuz the guy was coming at noon to install the window and I didn't want all the sawdust flying into my fresh paint. Then he hit an electric line -- thank goodness he wasn't hurt! -- but it knocked out the electric in that room and our very old breaker box and it's going to have to be replaced

Anyway, I couldn't work in there while he was here cuz I was in the way, so I took the time to pack up some of the kitchen stuff. I'm getting closer but still a lot to do. Now I am encouraged to finish it tho

You're working hard, Linda! Hope you give yourself a break! (After you've gotten a suitable amount of work done, of course.)

Garrett was only here 2½ days this week, Zondie. It was great timing, really. His grandparents came for a visit, so brought him late on Tuesday, and again Wednesday, then picked him up at 2:00 that day. He had a dr appt in St Louis yesterday, then he was going back home with them for the weekend. He has some hernias that need repairing, so they were to see the surgeon and make arrangements for him to go in to get that done.

He had a bit of a tummy virus this week . . slowed him down a bit, but he was doing better by Wednesday.

The room is painted. The trim is still not up, but I had to let it go for now. Most of hte things are out of the dining room. It's all a mess, and we nearly had to cancel the whole thing tonight cuz as the guy was putting the window in -- oh yes!! My window is in!!!!! . . he hit an electric wire with his saw . . thankfully, he wasn't hurt, but it threw a breaker -- we thought. Evidently, it did more than that. It completely shot our breaker box which was very old and needing replacement anyway . . what awful timing tho. That's what slowed me down this afternoon. The guy was supposed to find another and come to fix it in the morning, but I called him tonight and said since we have electric in part of the house, let us just get the floor done and then he can come put the box in. So the job is still on for tomorrow.

I'm very tired and will be going to bed shortly.

Good morning Leah. Thanks for filling us in on Garrett. I'm still praying for the little fella.

Glad to hear the painting is done and the window is in! The trim and breaker box will soon be fixed and then you're done with that room? I'm glad the guy who installed the window wasn't hurt when he sawed into that wire! That had to have given you both a scare!

What's the plan for your dining room?

Good morning, Zondie. Yeah, I was quite relieved Brian hadn't gotten hurt, but he tells me it's happened before and he's never gotten hurt.

The room the window was installed in will get new flooring today, as will the dining room, kitchen & hall. That's why I was trying to get that room done -- wanted it all done before the flooring went down. I think everything is ready . . . got up at 6:00 this morning, pulled out some more furniture, took up some more baseboard, then swept good & mopped up the worst areas. Now I've just run to Walmart to get some felt pad furniture movers -- wow what a wonder those are on laminate floors! There's not a piece of furniture in my house I can't move with those, I do believe. It will be so nice to be able to move the bigger pieces and sweep/mop behind them now. My hoosier cabinet and the buffet are two pieces in the kitchen that practically never got moved, and the hoosier cabinet especially was just cruddy underneath by the wall.

So glad to get that nasty stuff up before we started . . now I need to move the stove and do the same. I use some cleaner called Mean Green . . just spray it on and let it do the work. Takes no scrubbing to get even the worst of the crud off the floor. Of course you couldn't do this on a good vinyl floor, but sure works great getting this clean for the new floor to go down. Actually, I even use it on my bathroom vinyle which is pretty old, then I just put some wax on when I get it all mopped up -- it looks great!

That 'Mean Green' is truly mean ...to me! It's really good stuff for those who can use it, but I'm allergic to it! You're so busy, I'm surprised you have anytime to get on here! Well, I guess it's during your breaks, huh? Be careful not to strain your back moving those heavy pieces of furniture!

I've been busy since 6:00 this morning, and worked late last night. I was needing a break, and there's not much more I can do until they get here. I need my computer to use for down time . . seems to help me gather myself together for the next round, if ya kwim . . . actually when the electric went out yesterday, the living room was one of the rooms that went. That meant no computer and no TV -- not good!. So we are running both the TV & computer off of a heavy duty extension cord strung thru the middle of the living room, with everything plugged into a power strip -- or power strips, cuz all lmy computer stuff is on a surge protector strip, and that is now plugged into a power strip which is plugged into the extension cord . Whatever it takes!

Anyway, very soon I will be busy again and then you likely won't see me until very late. I expect it will take all day to get this done, then the guy will be coming to fix the electric -- or not. We're not so crippled up that it couldnt' wait until Monday, so we'll see.

Hello to Each of You,

You are all so special to think of me while I was away. Seems I had a tumor related seizure that took me to the hospital for a few days. I did get home yesterday (Sat) and have an ample supply of meds. (More on that later.)

My mom threw together a KY
Derby Day party Yesterday at the last minute. So we went to that last night and saw the whole family. I was tired and my head hurt, but it felt good to be around family.

About the meds : Both my hubby and I are concerned that I am becoming dependent on narcautics. The Drs say I am a person who needs pain killers, but we are worried just the same. Seems it's too easy to take a pill and forget I took it and then take another . I'm told it takes heavy prayer to brak an addiction. I guess I'm asking for your help once again. Thanks, You all already do so much for me , I hate to burdon you with more. You are special people.

Leah, Your home sounds like it's coming right along. Glad the guy with the saw wasn't hurt.

Hi Zondie, hi Trish , Hi Maggie! Thanks for looking out for me!

{{{{{{{{{{{{PENGIE}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} . . it is so good to see you in here!!!!!!!!!! We were becoming quite concerned . . praise God you're okay!

It woudl be really hard to know how much of those you really need, and how much could be becoming an addiction. I will be praying about that, Pengie.

I'm glad you go to be with the family yesterday . . and that the Kentucky Derby didnt' get rained out. It sounded for a bit like it might.

Yes, the house is coming along. I'm glad this part is over and I can start putting things back in place tho. I'm more than ready to have a put together house once again.

Hey Pengie! I hope you don't have too many of those seizures. Yikes! As for the narcotics, if you need them, you need them. If the doctor isn't concerned then I don't know why you should be. You don't like being in constant pain (no one does). {{{{{{{Pengie}}}}}}}

Thank the good Lord you're o.k.!!! Good to hear from ya, sis! And so good to see you back in here! Did they say anything about how often these seizures may occur? Or even if you're to expect it to happen again? I'll be praying for you in this area. And also about the concern you have with the meds.

My dil has the same sort of concerns about whether she'll become addicted or not. They've put her on a pain killer that she's had to take for 2 yrs. now. (For a back injury.) She just took a shot into the injured area in her back, to see if it will relieve the pain. If this shot works, she'll be able to come off the meds. and just take the shot every 3 or 4 months. (Pray it works!) But she's fearful, that because they've had her on the pain medication for so long, that the pain may become worse without them. I told her that we'd pray about it; when the time comes. To be honest with you, I don't much about drugs or the addiction to them. But I do know that NOTHING is to BIG for GOD!

Hi Leah! Hope all is going good with the remodeling, still. I'm pretty busy with the yard right now. (Gotta go mow the lawn...in a bit.) I'm planting flowers and clearing out some weeds and brush, where the mower or weed-eater can't go. Dh does what he can (when he can), but when I catch him gone to work, I try to take some of the load (around the house) off him. He works so hard on the job that I hate leaving all the yard work on him. So, I do what I can. Plus, I like to mow! Burns a few calories and loosens up the 'ole muscles and joints!

Hey there, Zondie. Yes, things are going better with the remodeling. It was a very rough weekend, but I think the hard part is behind us. I rested today, and do feel better now. I'm hoping to get the last of the trim painted tomorrow, then start moving stuff back in and organizing. It sure would be nice to see our bedroom again.

Oh! I found the Select Comfort Sleep Number bed I'd wanted to buy & decided I just couldn't afford -- but instead of paying $1500 for it, I'm getting it for $300. I'm to pick it up next week. So my goal is to get our bedroom cleaned out and ready for it to be set up by then. We'll see. Right now, I couldn't get a new bed thru the doorway . . . what with the problems with the electric, this remodeling has cost more than I bargained for, but I think I can scrape the money together by then.

I'm off to bed -- actually been snoozing in this chair, so I'd say it's about time.

Hi again. Had to take another trip to the hospital - this time for pain management. Seems their IV morphine is much better than my pills .

Hey Leah, I have a Select Comfort Sleep Number bed and I love it! Bought one for hubby and daughter too. Everyone sleeps like babies around here. lol (That is when we're out of pain)

Not much going on. Daughter has bonchitis. I keep running back and forth to the hospital for one thing or another.

Thanks for all the prayers . . . they are most appreciated. Praying for all of you!
