Leah, her dh goes back to work on Tuesday, so we'll see. She's also been helping the new principal get acclimated. Her fifth grandchild in due in early October. I told her to tell them it's time to stop or she won't have any time for me. She got a big kick out of that. Yeah, I expect she'll be by more often.

I truly hope she is, Marsha. You should be able to look forward to some good times with friends once the boys are more on their own and not taking up so much time, money & worry.

When John left home we had a very hard time. For the first week or two it truly felt like a death. His room was across the hall from our bathroom, so everytime I went to into the bathroom I got a good view of the empty room. The first day I couldn't stop crying. The second day I called an elderly friend and begged her to go shopping with me; even tho she had her granddaughter and great granddaughter staying with her, she heard my desperation and agreed to go. That helped. Still many hard days passed before we got busy helping our daughter move and getting ready for our first granddaughter, born just 11 days after John left for the Air Force.

It was during the weekend that we were helping her move that we heard from John for the first time. Then things got really bad again . . he hated it, hated the AF, hated the responsibility being forced on him, hated being away from home . . desperately crying for us to pray for him (that's when you know your kid is really in trouble ) . . . . honestly, if we'd had the money to go all the way to south Texas, I believe we would have gone & picked him up and done everything in our power to get him out of the AF. God in His wisdom saw to it that didn't happen.

You know, as bad as I hate always being broke, I realize that if I'd have had money there would have been many decisions I would have made that I shouldn't have, and many times I would have lived to regret those decisions. John has been in the AF for 12 years now. He met a beautiful, and very sweet girl whom he married, and they are now stationed in Germany. I'm hoping to gather enough money to go visit him -- well, I'm really counting on that, and he's offered to pay for the ticket

In the meantime, I have gotten used to the 'empty nest' syndrome, and have found I rather enjoy the quiet. I do have time for friends now, and time to do things that are just relaxing. And in spite of being at the low end of the income scale, we can come up with enough money to be comfortable.

Oh Linda....sorry it was so hard on you when John left.

Hi Mike...how are you doing?

Pengie....I love the bond my daughter and I have. It's great to share and listen to a daughter. I'm glad you have yours to do this with.

Zondie...glad your son is doing better.

Linda..I went over the notes I took last night at the Swaggart preaching. I'm so glad I took them. He did talk a good talk and I've been thinking on some of his points. I shared with one of my VBS children, one of the older ones, about going to the sermon and the point of "God provides". This boy came last week to VBS and came back for a repeat session.

I got home at midnight and my husband was sitting up waiting for me. He was mad. I asked him why and he said I thought you said you would be home at 8:00. I told him no. I had clearly explained that I was having dinner with Linda and THEN going to a sermon in Sullivan that began at 7:00. Clearly being home at 8:00 was impossible. He said he worried about me and where I was.

Pengie, it's awesome you have such a good relationship with your daughter.

Marsha, the boys will get past this stage and start wanting to spend time with you again. The twenty-somethings has been a good age that I've enjoyed very much.

Ginny, I hope you won't let your husband's impatience and complaining stop you from doing more things like you did with Linda Friday night. You need those times.

Hi Linda!

Mike in answer to your question NO, my email has changed. Let me go to my profile and change that information. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

Hey, would anyone here like for me to email you a power point I did on the Parable of the Sower? Maggie and Linda said it was very good.

I still pray that Mike. Always asking God for His Will that is in Heaven be done in me here on earth.

Trusting him to do so.

Leah,

I'm thinking about taking the kids (and my mom) on another train trip up to your area in early Nov. If I do, we'll have to see if we can get together somewhere for lunch or something.

I can't see graphics on my computer anymore, and it won't do pps either.

Trish, I can't see graphics and power points on my home computer either. I really miss having Microsoft Office at home.

I have a computer lab where I work and I used my lunch breaks and stayed after work to do my power point then I attached it to an email and sent it on to Maggie and Linda and my pastor.

Last night when it played on the church screen I noticed on one of the slides the words had gotten mixed up some. I guess when you email something sometimes the formatting gets jumbled. It was fine when I attached it to the email.

We had some problems when the electricity went out on us in a storm. Ever since then we can't see graphics. Our computer is too old to see pps files. We can't afford to get it fixed or replaced, so we've just to put up with it.

Leah, I want to thank you and Mags for the encouragement. It's been a full day, but I want to get in a stroll before long. I'll respond more later

Yesterday, Nate enjoyed his laid back day at home. I was shocked to come back from my window shopping to find him cleaning his room. Not something he does normally. LOL We had a good conversation earlier that day. Oh, how that young man effects my sense of well-being. A day like yesterday makes me feel like things are going to be fine.

Hold onto that sense of well-being, Marsha. Things WILL be good. You have trained your sons well and once they've ironed out their kinks of independence, that training and their love for you will show.

{{{{{{{{{Marsha}}}}}}}}}} . . . you're welcome. And I'm glad you are already getting to experience the benefits of good mothering.

I didn't realize I hadn't posted in here all week. Guess I've been posting in the daily chat thread and forgot to come here too. It's been a busy week, so much so that I just had to take a break last night and stayed home instead of going to the help at the kids' crusade at church. It was fine in that we have very few kids coming and lots of help. I'll go tonight, tho, and hopefully be able to take Garrett with me.

He's here today -- first time I've had him in over 3 weeks. It sure is good to see him again. He had a birthday last Friday, so I got to give him his present this morning -- some new balls . . . he's really into throwing now, so he's had fun with those. His daddy called yesterday and said he was enrolling him for the Early Childhood Development program, so they will be picking him up here for the afternoon session from Monday thru Thursday starting next week.

We've been outside this morning -- it is really nice out. He helped me water the flowers . . 'course he had to be changed into some dry clothes when we got back inside

I'm glad you're getting to spend time again with Garrett, Leah. I'm sure you've missed him, and I reckon he would have missed you too.

I hope the programme will help Garrett.

Just caught up on all the posts. I've never had to suffer 'Empty Nest Syndrome' either. My son's accident happened at the age of 17, therefore, forcing him to be a 'stay at home' kid. I've still made him and his wife promise to never leave home. (Mostly, so they'll ALWAYS feel welcomed!) And try to make him feel like I need him more than he needs me. Anyway...

I've not been able to have enough free time, to come on here and post this week, until now. We took ds to the Urologist Monday and he discovered a kidney stone lodged in his urethra tube. So he was scheduled for surgery Wednesday. (After the Urologist tried and failed to remove it in his office.)
The surgery was successful and ds has been doing fine with his recovery. I'm to remove the catheter tomorrow. Please remember him in your prayers that he'll be able to 'make water' on his own. If not; we'll have to start catheterizing him every 4-6 hours, daily. I'm putting all my trust in the Lord as always.

Leah, I'm glad you and Garrett got to spend time together. You mentioned his birthday...how old is he now?

(((((((EVERYONE)))))))
