What is your opinion of Juanita Bynum?

NoClone -> RE: Juanita Bynum (11/14/2006 2:39:27 AM)

I don't know her, so, wouldn't be qualified.

But she did visit a church a I used to attend and went on about an hour-long tirade about selfishness. The thing is, she wasn't the only scheduled speaker for the evening. Because she went way over her time limit, others had to not speak, or limit their time. Afterwards, everyone was going wild about how awesome she was. I couldn't believe it. I thought her selfishness betrayed her pep talk.

I left that church and don't listen to the WOF/Charasmatic message anymore.

Just another false prophet(ess) from the WoF/TBN/Day Star camp...[:@]

So tell me, what makes her false?

Is it because she is on TBN?
is it because she has alot of money?
is it because she is a woman that is very well known on TV?

And if you have answered yes to any of these questions, then I would question your statement. And if she is false as you claim where is your proof of what makes juanita bynum false?

I feel if you are gonna make a statement like this, then please come with proof of her falseness. Not dealing with the fact that she is a well known woman, who has been able to come into alot of money, and is on TBN.

Thanks

1) It sure doesn't help.
2) I don't really care if she has a lot of money, but I think she has made that money by spreading a false Christ.
3) Again, I have mainly seen her on TBN and I would not want that to be my main venue to spread the Gospel. And I don't care if she is a woman - there are a lot more men on TBN (Hinn, Jakes, DuPlantis, etc.) that I have problems with than women.

Soxfan -> RE: Juanita Bynum (11/15/2006 9:36:49 AM)

She's Paula White, with a nice singing voice.

I suggest you Google her and read up on her false theology

No. It is because:

1) She teaches lies
2) She twists scripture to make her lies seem like the truth
3) She has no biblical authority to preach to men to begin with

Run from her like the plague.

howling wind -> RE: Juanita Bynum (11/15/2006 4:25:45 PM)

I did a very unscientific experiment during my lunch today. I had a co-worker look at "Dr." Bynum's website and asked him his opinion. First question he asked was "Is this lady a preacher?" Putting aside biblical arguments for a second, I told him "Yes, she is a preacher." Second question he asked is "Doesn't the Bible say a woman is not to be over a man as a preacher?" I told him "Yes, as I understand the Bible, that is correct." His final statement summed it up: "This lady seems to be as full of herself as Oprah Winfrey is."

http://www.juanitabynum.com/about.html

If I was to judge "Dr." Bynum just from a look at her website, I would have a few questions for her:

1) Where is your statement of faith that so many other "valid" ministries have on their websites?
2) Where did you get your education and how has it prepared you to be a minister of the Gospel? Where did you get your doctorate? Was it earned or is it honorary?
3) Why, on your prayer request request area, do you refer to yourself as "Prophetess"?

Andrewsjoy -> RE: Juanita Bynum (11/15/2006 7:25:53 PM)

I was puzzled by the lack of a statement of faith as well.
I googled her and found this statement over and over "Bynum calls herself an internationally acclaimed Bible teacher, prophet, psalmist, and media personality."
I couldn't even find a bio that explained her schooling etc which would qualify her in the least bit , apart from a general "Calling"...

I was puzzled by the whole website. No content...everything you click is just a rabbit trail leading to her book or album. She calls herself a "Dr." but her bio gives no schooling info whatsoever...guess she got it on the internet![sm=sadquestion.gif]

Okay, not all of us are familiar with her "lies". Can you please back up that statement by showing the "lies" that she tells, and the scripture the "twists" to back them up? some evidence of your claims would be appreciated.

Exactly my point, I am not familiar with her lies either. please do back it up showing the statements and scriptures. I have listen to her a few times, and I havent heard the lie or twisting of scripture and I had the bible face to face in my hands. I may have heard things I didnt agree with, but I didnt hear the lies or twisting as you claim when I heard her.

Here is an AUDIO interview with Bob Lichow that discusses her teachings

Want more?...Typical WoF "Seed Faith" theology from TBN:

- "You need to send a thousand dollars. If you can’t send a thousand, send five hundred… if all you have is a nickel, wrap it in tissue and put it in an envelope. If all you have is your clothes, send them.”
- “If you want the power, you have to sow the seed [clearly referring to sending her money in context].” (See Acts 8 below.)
- “We’re going together into a spirit of wealth.”
- “You need [to give] because you need favor. You need it because you need an anointing. You need it because youI need power.’”
- “You’ve got three days to get that into your mailbox. I’m not afraid to say this. I am walking in my authority… if you don’t postmark it by the tenth, we will not accept it. [I’d like confirmation of that.] God says you have three days to get your thousand-dollar seed in the mail.”
- “Give it to me and you will live. Give it to me and you will have more than enough.” (She claims to be speaking for the Lord, actually.)
- “If all you have is $79.36, I double-dare you to empty your bank account. Close your account.”

Compare with Acts 8:

Now when Simon saw that the Spirit was bestowed through the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money, saying, “Give this authority to me as well, so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.” But Peter said to him, “May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money! You have no part or portion in this matter, for your heart is not right before God. Therefore repent of this wickedness of yours, and pray the Lord that, if possible, the intention of your heart may be forgiven you. For I see that you are in the gall of bitterness and in the bondage of iniquity.”

More:

- During the Fall Praise-a-Thon on November 6, 2003, Earl Paulk instructed the TBN viewers to obey Bynum, who ordered people to empty their checking accounts, in exchange for a cloth that she would walk upon.

During the Fall TBN 2005 "telethon", Juanita Bynum was "prophesying" that for that day, and that day only, they could get a very special triple blessing, but that in order to do so they had to prove their faith by sending in every penny they had. If their account had $99.75, they needed to send in a check for $99.75, if they had $5,900.00, they needed to send in a check for $5,900.00 if they wanted that special triple blessing.

mcleod -> RE: Juanita Bynum (11/16/2006 9:54:47 AM)

Like I written before God can't make up his mind on what mount you are to give that he is going to bless you with.
I know one thing she and her husband believe. To make it rich all you need to do is write a few books. Get the faithful to give. their last penny.
My God let them show us by example and give all of their riches to the people you are starving in the world.

Andrewsjoy -> RE: Juanita Bynum (11/16/2006 11:00:10 AM)

yea, send all your money so she can spend it on her over a Million dollar wedding...

I have a few:

“You need to send a thousand dollars. If you can’t send a thousand, send five hundred… if all you have is a nickel, wrap it in tissue and put it in an envelope. If all you have is your clothes, send them.”
“If you want the power, you have to sow the seed [clearly referring to sending her money in context].” (See Acts 8 below.)
“We’re going together into a spirit of wealth.”
“Last night, you sowed to your ability. Tonight, you sow beyond your ability.”
“‘I need [to give] because I need favor. I need it because I need an anointing. I need it because I need power.’” (Her speaking for the people who give to her tonight.)
“‘I’m giving because I want my daughters to be daughters of Zion.’” (Again speaking for those who are giving to her.)
“You’ve got three days to get that into your mailbox. I’m not afraid to say this. I am walking in my authority… if you don’t postmark it by the tenth, we will not accept it. [I’d like confirmation of that.] God says you have three days to get your thousand-dollar seed in the mail.”
“Give it to me and you will live. Give it to me and you will have more than enough.” (She claims to be speaking for the Lord, actually.)
“If all you have is $79.36, I double-dare you to empty your bank account. Close your account.”

Perhaps the worst part was when she had her people spread out enough white tallits (the traditional Jewish garment worn in prayer and study) to cover the entire stage behind her. She announced that she would be walking on them, and sprinkling olive oil on them, and people who gave (the most often suggested amount was one thousand dollars) would receive these (or pieces of these). They were supposed to wear them at all times for twenty-one days; to wrap them around themselves, to put them on their children, to slip them under their mattresses.

She calls on people to close out their bank accounts. She is a shister, a liar, and should be put in jail.

IMA_CHRISTIAN -> RE: Juanita Bynum (11/16/2006 9:01:15 PM)

I was sad to see that Juanita has these bad things attested to her. The one time I saw her, she has a beautiful singing voice, and she was singing a song with such emotion and such meaning that it made me sniffle. Too bad if she had turned into a false prophetess, because she really could have been powerful for the true Lord!

GrahamCracker -> RE: Juanita Bynum (11/17/2006 1:34:17 PM)

Have we gotten so far off in doctrine that we can't identify a false prophet/prophetess immediately? Apparently so.

I hate to say it, but when Ted Haggard's scandal came out, I wanted to give him the benefit of doubt. But I had no idea what he believed. It's hard to keep track of these guys. They are teachers seeking followers with itching ears.
