I am quitting smoking and taking Chantrix. I still smoke every once in awhile. Yesterday and today I haven't had one tho. If anyone can send a support prayer, my name is Abe and it would be most helpful. I know i can do this with God by my side.

WTG JordanW!!! It is hard but i know if you keep it on your mind and pray to God you can do it bud!! I just had my birthday a couple days ago (May 4th) and haven't had a cigarette since. Hopefully I can keep this going! Nice anniversary date to remember you know??

Oops! I thought today was Friday. Friday is our last day smoking. My mom quit smoking about a month ago, and my dad quit 9 years ago. Me and hubby are quitting together.

Today is day #4 since my birthday May 4th. I did a command fitness test and even tho it has just been 4 days, my lungs feel so much better. Not night and day yet, but really close! I pray for you Steel that you can do this. Is mental more than anything i believe.

Just bear in mind that just stopping , period, rather than doing a countdown, might work better.
(I quit too)

Maybe your right and I shouldn't pay attention to the amount of days I have quit. The fact is that i quit and never need to be subject to the cigarettes again or have them control my life. good idea faroukfarouk

I was just thinking that Steel says TOMORROW is the last day; but to do that she must want to get every last ounce of enjoyment out of it TODAY, right?
Some ppl would say, quit today.
Others would say, why are you quitting at all, if you are so determined to do it today, why not just discipline yourself to cut down and severely curtail the amount you smoke.

I agree. When I finally decided I was going to quit, I quit then - it was 10:30 in the morning.
But if you stick with the date you choose, then I'll support you 100%!

I have been quit for 1 Week, 1 Day, 10 hours, 53 minutes and 8 seconds (8 days). I have saved $17.78 by not smoking 84 cigarettes. I have saved 7 hours of my life. My Quit Date: 4/30/2008 12:00 AM

I'm a big time planner. I've been following a program that suggests to choose a quit date and an NRT. According to the Mayo Clinic, a person is twice as likely to stay quit if they use another method than cold turkey. They also suggest a lot of other things to help prepare myself. But, the reason we have to wait for tomorrow is because my husband gets paid then so we can buy the patch.
You're doing great, Jordan and Abe!

The places where I've checked indicate that the longterm success rate of cold turkey far exceeds NRT.
ONE EXAMPLE
I'm also another example of sorts. I started with the 4mg nic-gum and worked down to the 2mg but would chew as many as 3 pieces at a time, then return to 4mg and 2-3 of those. NRT, for me, was just another delivery system for nicotine. As I've mentioned, I used the nic-gum for 97 days until I went cold turkey.
In the almost 2 years since I quit, I have talked with scores of people in the process of quiting and I've only met a couple who were successful with weaning down their NRT. (I even met a man that was addicted to nic-gum for TEN YEARS before he went cold turkey.) The majority of the ones with 2 or mores years nic-free went cold turkey.
If nothing else, memories of those rough early days of withdrawal help keep us from wanting to go through that again.
