Sounds good to me!!!

If you go to Hung Fung late enough, you can see them using their "central vacumming" system......I freaked out when I saw one of the ladies hooking the hose up to a hole in the wall and just start vacumming. That was about 10 years ago. Anyhow, I'm drifting....just thought I'd share that little tidbit.

Well count me in, there, padner. I was born in MD, but I was conceived in Texas. ;)

And since life begins at conception, that makes me a native Texan! Yeeee Haaaww!

I wasn't born in Texas, but I'm getting there as soon as I can! I'm relocating to North of Fort Worth from the east coast. I was born on the west coast so it shouldn't be too bad.

Just moved to Texarkana in June from Maryland. I don't miss Maryland as I'm a southern boy. My wife is a Army officer, so we move every 2 to 3 years. Texarkana seems okay, but I been out of the south for so long that I just can't seem to get use to the heat. Spent 3 1/2 years in Germany before we went to Maryland. Not much extreme heat there.

I"m not used to it either, so I understand so well what you mean. But I guess you'll get acclimated after a while.

sarahnee,

I hope you enjoy Texas. Remember it's the people who make it and not the terrain.

Sure it does as long as you understand that Texan is a state of mind.

Another Texan here!!

Born in Victoria/Cuero area raised in San Antonio (Except one horrible year in Santa Fe, NM ) since the age of 2.

I'm proud to be a TEXAN!!!!

As for the King Wah are you sure that was the name?? I tried to look it up in the phone book and came up with a Kim Wah on Bandera Rd. Could that be it?

Has anyone ever ate at The Little Red Barn here in San Antonio? It's up the street from me (I'm also proud to be a South San Antonian too ) and I think it's one of the best local steak houses!!

Welcome!

That could be the name. It's been at least 15 years since I ate there. When I was in high school and college, I ate there a lot. You don't want to know how many years ago that was.

I've never eaten at the Little Red Barn, but I'll have to check it out next time I'm down there.

I think the King Wah is closed....it's been ages. I have never been to The Little Red Barn - I always wanted to, I have just haven't gotten there yet. Maybe I'll make dh take me for my birthday - it's not far from where I live either.

I'm honored to post in a thread about Texas. I've never even been to Texas but I love it big bunches. Why? Because of its people and its Christians in particular. The wonderful Bush family comes from Texas. They like Springer dogs and I love Springer dogs (I have two girls just over one year old.) Texans stand up for what is right and I love 'em for that. Texans should know that others from other states stand in awe of the faith and good sense demonstrated by Texans - and that is meant to be a well deserved compliment. I love this nation, but there is no other state that I respect like I do Texas.

Period.

Here I am jumping into the thread again without knowing what's going on.

I just want to say how proud I am to be here, how the citizens of this state jumped in to assist their neighbors from New Orleans, especially the thousands of folks who made up the volunteer force at the Astrodome.

Did somebody already say that?

I got a visit at the church today from two very nice FEMA guys....wanted to know if we had any evacuees at our church (we don't) - our church is teeny tiny. But it was cool talking with them.

I must say, I have been very impressed with the responses from our city too.

Howdy yall! I was born in Austin and have been here all my life. And that is quite a while.

About this "Keep Austin Wierd" stuff, I don't get it. Its the same normal stuff that I have lived with all my life. Nothing wierd about it.

imo, its two things -- one, an ad campaign for a mexican food place...chuy's?

two, austin is very artsy and musical-y, and liberal. keep it that way.

When I was in Austin I was stunned by how similar it seemed to Berkeley. The long hairs anyway....

I don't think Austin is in jeopardy of changing any time soon.

I agree with Ben. It definitely is reminiscent of the liberal side of California. What's more, the hills even remind me of some portions of California.

Ken,

Thank you for such kind words about Texans! I guess people think we blow our own horn so much that we don't need anyone else to say nice things.
