ORIGINAL: lightshineon Ok, I will do the Christian thing and bash Bush. He is a bad public speaker, if he were a smooth con man, he would be the most popular president to date. That is because people are so easily duped, and follow the crowd. If Bush were a better speaker he could have said "Hope" "change", and by golly, he would have a chant written about him, a woman with here behind hanging out of shorts, proclaming her love for him on youtube. Not only that, he could take mind control over the simple minded, like a man is doing in this election. So yes, it is a shame that Bush is not more slick and slimey. Happy?I bashed our President. I'm wondering if you will be as supportive of President Obama.

Btw, Genghis Khan was hardly conservative. That's kind of like saying that Rasputin was merely liberal.

We've reached a low point in our society if we can't even talk about the things that the President has done, that are patently wrong and illegal mind you, without being labled as being un-american, or liberals. We have the freedom to dissent in this country, though I'm noticing a disturbing trend towards attacking the dissenters rather than confront the meat of what they're saying. There are important things to be asked. Asking why the President lied about the use of torture, which is not only forbidden by international law but by American law as well isn't un-american, it's trying to get to the truth. We aren't bad people for demanding answers. We're patriotic americans who want to know why our leaders condoned and then lied about this evil practice. We love our homeland enough to point out the things that are wrong and to then move to correct them. Questions about the various scandals and contemptable practices that the Bush administration has perpetrated is all a part of that.

I will also not use conservative together with stamper_ben because, by his own admission, he is right of Genghis Khan. That's way beyond conservative.

Compassion - Deep awareness of the suffering of another coupled with the wish to relieve it Who would not want to be labeled with compassion? But comapssion does not mean helping in a way that can look like helping but in fact keeps a person in suffering, plus draw others into suffering, that is sadistic (extreme cruelty), hence modern liberalism being a mental disease

The current "compassionate" things that the current administration has done have been a disaster. Gas prices up 200%, unemployment higher than it's been in years, and inflation higher than it's been in 14 years. This hurts the poor and the middle class more than anyone else and it can be traced directly to the policies of President Bush. Bush has not been a good President overall. I don't understand why this is so hard to admit. Say it with me now, "Bush has not been a good President". Admission of his approval of torture after lying about it for years, getting us involved in a war we had no business fighitng in the first place, the abysmal state of the economy, his horrible record on immigration, his refusal to pardon the two border patrolmen who are currently serving time for shooting a blasted drug runner (based on said drug runner's testimony mind you) not to mention the Haliburton scandals, the Blackwater scandals and who knows what else that we haven't discovered yet. No all this adds up to a bad Presidency no matter how you slice it.

I sometimes wonder why some people are so reluctant to admit Bush has made mistakes - some of them catastrophic (Iraq quagmire). It's as if they personally identify with the man to the point that any admission of error on the president's part is going to reflect on them. I'm not exaggerating; I've never followed American politics as closely as I have since the 2000 election, and I've been shocked more than once at seeing how American Christians are so partisan when it comes to their politics. This has been a horrible presidency. I don't see how anyone can ignore the facts that are right in front of us.

If he falls into sadistic, so be it

If he falls into sadistic, so be it President Bush referred to himself as a "compassionate conservative". Other neo-cons have listed him as being an important figure in compassionate conservatism. I merely use him as an example of the lie that said movement is becoming.

Well, first he would have to be a conservative ....... A Japanese doctor said, 'Medicine in my country is so advanced that we can take a kidney out of one man, put it in another, and have him looking for work in six weeks.' A German doctor said, 'That's nothing, we can take a lung out of one person, put it in another, and have him looking for work in four weeks.' A British doctor said, 'In my country, medicine is so advanced that we can take half of a heart out of one person, put it in another, and have them both looking for work in two weeks.' A Texas doctor, not to be outdone said, 'You guys are way behind. We took a man with no brains out of Texas, put him in the White House, and now half the country is looking for work.”
