Sorry I didn't explain more... It was a hard decision to come to to decide to take a break from the group for one year. (I didn't even know if they would want me back! ) But when I gave my letter of resignation to Les (should have just been a letter of leave of absence, but anyway,) I thought he was going to cry! He sounded all choked up; it was real, definitely. Joyce was sleeping because she hadn't got much sleep this morning (she works graveyard shift), so she didn't get to get the news fresh. Wow, I wonder what she said when she read it!? On the other hand, with working between 40-52 hours a week and 20 hours a week of school, I didn't feel I could give the ministry it's rightful time for either practice or availability for concerts, so a leave was necessary, though not really wanted. I would rather have stayed! However there is only so much time in a week to get stuff done that needs to be done. Les said I did need this, because factory work doesn't really have a future, and a trade would be better. I know he understands, but like me, doesn't really like it. I just want to do what God wants me to do. And I want Him to use me. Oh, and another thing......I am not resiging from the MGMA either. For the fiscal year of 2008 I have taken the status of associate member (non-performing), and have offered to still write for the Newsletter and help with stuff the MGMA needs like mailings, posters, etc. When I go back with Les and Joyce, Lord willing, I will also return to performing member status. Just a little info I thought you all would like to know!

ORIGINAL: L5FanLady I had a serious and horrible thought tonight....... When I joined Reclaimed in 2007, we had concerts galore, well, I mean, like 1 or 2 a month, sometimes 3...... Now, I know this year has only begun, but we have alot fewer concerts. Our first isn't even until April! By then in 2007, we had sung three places!! My thought? What if it is because of me? Oh, I hope not! Maybe I failed Reclaimed....! Not a chance!!!! The economy is affecting a lot of things, Tina, including SG music dates.

I emailed Les about the above problem, and here was the response I got. I thought it was definitely worth sharing with the rest of y'all. First, here was my original email to Les: quote:
Les, I have a very serious question. I noticed that, compared to 2007's schedule, we have waaaaaay fewer dates this year. Why is that???? Is it because of me? I hope not! ~Tina And here was his response: quote:
Hi Tina, Nope! I don't think that you are not even in this equation. We have never called anyone for a place to sing and have always relied on the Lord for places to sing. He always seems to know just how much my body will take. The schedule sometimes takes a bump, then all at once it will start to fill up. If you want to sing more often, might I suggest that you take the problem in hand and find us some places to sing. I am sure that His Grace that is given to us will not reflect on our faith. Then the other part of this equation is that everybodys dates are down. Even the big names are right now finding places to sing. So many of the churches have gone to the praise and worship format, and they don't seem to have any interest in old fasion Gospel Music. When we were down at the studio, we were talking to Charles about this and he told us that nearly 80 percent of all the groups that have recorded with them in the last 10 years are no longer on the road. I am sure there will always be a venue for us to sing, but it just might be a little harder to find them. A lot of the full time groups that have depended on this as there lively hood have folded as the ministry no longer can support them and their familys. It seems like it is up to the part time groups like us to now carry the torch. I know that you have wanted to be more involved in this ministry. This may be the avenue that the Lord would have you go down. Maybe it is time fdor us to put together some ministry packets that can be sent to pastors and churches. I, however, would not be the person to do that. I do know that from time to time our Lord will test our Faith to see if we pass or fail the tests that He gives us. We just can't take the ministry that God has given to us, and then set back on our laurals. I think that is some of the problems the people in the MGMA are facing. We have to keep changing with the times and not become so entrenched in the way it always has been. Well, I tried to answer your question as seriously as I could. Hope I didn't bore you. I do think that I still have a few more quality years that I can devote to lifting up our Lord with quality music. But, we just may have to work a little harder at it, Les I thought that hit the nail on the head! Thank you, Lord, that it was not my fault! Still I would like to see us singing more. I sure love to sing.

Somewhere (I think it was the L5 thread) I announced I was buying a modular. I promised I would tell the story of how I got it, and I'm glad I waited, because I ended up writing an article about it for the MGMA newsletter. Here is that article for you that do not get the newsletter. Kinda lengthy, I know. WHEN YOU KNOW GOD IS WORKING For about a month or two recently, I had been dreaming of owning my own place. I have been renting for five years (eleven if you want to count dorm life) and I felt that God was leading me to seek out some kind of trailer or double wide or modular kind of thing, and with my current lease ending at the end of July, I had been praying and asking God where He wanted me to go. I had one mobile home park that had been heavy on my mind to go visit here in Kalamazoo, so I went to see it on the first Friday in June, believing God was sending me there. I swear to you—I was only going to LOOK and to get info, I promise! But what God worked out that day—well, it was definitely GOD working! Here is how I knew it was of God: on the same day prior to me going over there, at work, a new gal, Eva, was training with my teammate, Kathie. As I listened to their conversation (no, I was not eavesdropping! I was right there and couldn’t help overhearing…!) I heard Eva talking about a modular she was trying to get but needed help. Of course, that reminded me and I went to Kathie, who is a Christian, and asked her to pray for me, I am going today to look at this particular park and get info. Well, Eva overheard this of course, and long story short, she sent me there with the name of the man who oversees the selling of homes in that park. I pulled into the park that afternoon and began looking for the main office, but not seeing it right away, I decided to take a little drive through the park to see if it was decent and clean. All the mobile homes/modulars seemed kept up and nice, and as I rounded the corner and came to the end of the next street, my eyes fell on a cute corner lot that had two big porches and a garage. It was white with decorative shutters, and immediately I said to myself (out loud): “Ooh, I like that! God, I want that one!!” But as I studied it, I saw no for sale sign, but no signs of life either. Well, maybe the person is at work, I reasoned. I’m being crazy, I thought, and decided to look again for the office. This time I found it and met the gentleman, George, which Eva sent me to see. I asked questions and got answers, and at the end he took me to see a few trailers. Guess which one we went to see first? You’re right: the one that caught my eye! I thought it was more than strange, more than coincidence, that that was the first home he came to, considering I had heard there are something like 331 homes in that park! I didn’t say anything right away to George; I just let him give me the tour. The inside was as nice or nicer than the outside, I thought: new carpet, new paint, nice layout, the floors felt solid, it had central air, lots of counter space, the porches were big and solid wood. Lots of SPACE, period! I was won over! Yes, this IS a nice place! But, I told myself, I can’t just go with the first one I see, I definitely want to see any others above and below my price range. So I asked George to show them to me. Let me back up just a little bit to January of this year. You will recall how I was going to leave Reclaimed and go to school to become a massage therapist, but backed out at the last minute. As I sat in the school that day, getting ready to sign my life away for a big student loan, I felt as if the Holy Spirit was telling me not to do it. How I wish I would have listened! It ended up tying me up for months trying to get out of that whole deal. Somewhere in all of this though, God taught me to be more aware of His Spirit’s leading. So as we went through each of the other double wides that June day, I was listening intently to what the Spirit had to say and to the gut feeling on my part. Each one of those four or five other trailers was definitely a no-go. Not that they weren’t all nice; they were. It was just that the Spirit was directing me back to my first choice….. After the last home, I asked George to take me back to the first one: I wanted to see it one more time; and this time, I gave it a full inspection. Yes, it just felt right, that’s the only way I can describe it, like home, so I decided to get the ball rolling on purchasing it. I was going to be a homeowner! I applied and was approved that same day. Now the test would begin: I had three full days to think about what I just did, before the signing of a binding loan, and possibly chicken out as many people do. But as I prayed and listened that weekend, I felt more and more confident that this is definitely what God wanted me to do. Tuesday came, and I confidently put my name on the dotted line! This loan was approximately twice as much as the student loan, but with God in it, I felt safe! There are some other wonderful things that God has done concerning this that I will share with you in the next newsletter. God is amazing! I just love watching Him work!
