Hey ladies, I just registed for THIS wrap at BabiesRUs. It seemed to have really good reviews. . .any opinions on this particular style?

So to make your own Moby, all you do is buy material, cut it to size and serge around the whole thing - and that's it?!

yup...you could...or you don't have to serge around it, depending on the material...some would not ravel they would just curl up naturally on their own on the edges. They do serge because they do two layers of jersey knit material, but you don't have to do two layers. You don't have to use jersey Knit material either, but that's what works best for their product. I have been thinking of making one with an old sheet...cut into two strips length wise and sewn together in the middle...just one layer thick...so that in the summer it will be cooler then the official moby that I have.

Sarah I know you have already said it, well I'm pretty sure.. but
with being a larger busted/figured woman is the moby pretty secure feeling? I don't know why I wonder about that but I do. I want a moby bad now :) I also want my baby now too :) but have a few more months to go.

I'm definitely going to have to look for some cheap fabric. DH is not thrilled about the idea of getting a wrap, to say the least, but if I can make one for cheap, he probably won't mind.
Sarah - do you think the "homemade" Moby would be just as secure and just as good as the "real thing"? Also - do you think a homemade Moby D would be safe too, or would it be "risky" because the seams are right where the baby's weight is?

Also - do you get very hot wearing wraps? Disney is not cold, so I'm just debating the benefits of using a wrap vs using a stroller. I don't want me and babe to be sweating away all day.

I personally don't like the Moby D because I don't tie mine around me that way so it would look funny. The panel is in the middle of the Moby, and it ties to the front...I wrap mine differently and tie it to the side. So I don't really know much about the Moby D...haven't really been that intrigued with it. I would guess it is the same thing, just with an extra pretty panel put on top though, which would still make it very secure for baby.
this is how I tie my Moby....I can do it one handed and it whips around like nothing. OK....first you have to know that the final intention is to have it cross cross the front and back and go around the middle/waist area. I drape it over one shoulder, down to my knee. Then I grab it far enough down to where I can whip it crisscross on my back, around my waist, back crisscrossed on my back and up to the other shoulder...in one smooth motion. Now you have it going around your waist once and crisscrossed in the back. Tuck that side in under the waist part and go back around the waist one more time (on a clock it would be one and a quarter times) to tie on the side I started on.
I find this method much faster and easier then their directions of messing with each side individually. Plus this way I can take it off in three rings, hang it on the back of the chair or whatever, and when I go to put it back on I just slip back into it and don't have to retie it.
The Ultimate Wrap though is a bit different at the end cause you don't tie it off, it's got a ring there that you keep it taught with.

I don't....but I am generally not a hot person unless I am pregnant (and even then it depends on the pregnancy...this time I am cold ALL the time).
The benefits of having a stroller though in a theme park is that you don't have to carry everything all day long. When we lived near a theme park and went several times a week, I would take a stroller for nothing more then hauling the stuff. As far as personality wise though, does your baby sleep well on his own or does he need you to hold him fo get him to sleep or to stay asleep? I would say that would determine whether just a stroller would do or if you will need to hold him. If he will require your arms all day anyway then get a wrap to help save your back. Your hubby doesn't have to like it....he doesn't have to use it....but believe me, if he ever broadens his horizons and tries it he will rave about how comfortable it is compared to hauling kids in his arms.

I am fluffy too and the Moby is very secure. Like Sarah said, you tie it to YOUR body and you learn how loose or tight you need it to be just right.
For Disney, I'd bring both the stroller and the wrap. I'd probably only use the wrap when the baby needed it because I'd personally rather not wear a baby all day if I don't have to.

OK, I didn't get that. Can you be more specific? Like - drape it over right shoulder, down to right knee. Whip it up or down? From right to left? Left to right? I'm confused!!!

hold in right hand and hold out to the side (so as to measure length you will need...which is about two arms length for me)
with right hand, pull around in front of you (at your waist), looping over your head...kind of like a lasso revolution...that will pull it around your waist and back to your back
then go over right shoulder (thus crisscrossing the back section)
feed through the waist band
go left, around the waist, again then around a little more to tie off on the left side.
is that easier to understand?

OK, I think I get it - let me clarify it a little just to make sure I'm catching on.
Fabric starts off draped over your left shoulder with the fabric stopping at the knee in front.
You grab the fabric that is behind you with your right hand (thus making the first cross from top left shoulder to bottom right waist), then continue to bring it forward from right to left across the front of your body and ending at your back. You are also crossing over the knee length fabric from Step#1. So far there is no fabric around your waist in the back.
Then, working across your back, you bring it from bottom left waist up to top right shoulder - completing the X across the back.
You bring the fabric from top right shoulder straight down to your waist and slip it underneath the waistband.
You then go left wrapping it completely around your waist again, 1 1/2 rotations so that you end up back at Step#1 where you can tie off.
Is that right?

COMPLETELY CORRECT!!!! I find this method easier, and can even do it while holding a baby against my chest or hip with my other arm. Sometimes it needs to be adjusted a bit when I do it that way though, but generally, for me, it's about half the time it takes me to do it the way they suggest doing it. Also I am a larger person, so you may have to wrap it one more time around your waist. With me, wrapped like that, it hangs down to about mid thigh after I tie it.
