Sorry I have no advice for you Donna, but I think that's a great idea!!!! Hopefully someone can chime in with some help.

Can you wear a baby forward facing in the Mei Tai? I have my homemade one, and I tried doing it with Jacob, but it seems like his legs are so spread out that it would be uncomfy. ??

Been meaning to post here. I got my Moby from Sarah a few days ago. Klay even liked it he said "its even the right kind of cammo!". Now I just need to figure out how to use it. I know its been asked like a million times but can someone point me toward the instructions? Any special considerations since my man will be a little smaller than most when he comes home?

Glad you got it!!!! (I figured he would prefer that over the digital camo, cause he's "old school"....hehehe)
HERE is the moby site with pics of the instructions.

each of mine likes to be in it differently, so just kind of play around with him and how he is most comfy. Jack liked to be in the hug hold, Justice prefers the cradle hold.

donna...have you tried the cradle hold with the moby? that's the only way I can nurse in it. At church though, I prefer to take it off in the nursing room and nurse just under a blanket...I am not good at nursing in the wrap.

Levi was so big he didn't like the cradle hold for long. I never did figure out how to nurse in the Moby, even sitting. I always had to take him out. I could nurse without taking it off, but not with him in it.

Plus, I think maybe a simple pouch will be easier for the frequent on and off I'll be doing in the beginning, KWIM?

Yeah I completely understand. Maybe it's because your torso is short...I know that's why I can't nurse in it. Like you, I can take them out, leave it on, and nurse, but not with them actually IN it.

HERE is another kind I would like to get or make (preferably make as it would be cheaper)...looks much easier then the meitai.....but I can't imagine nursing would be too easy in it...lol.

Donna, I used a pouch sling when Gwen was tiny and really liked it - it was simple to put on/take off and super easy to pop her in and out of! I had an Uppy Guppy - but their website is down, so I can't show you what it looked like! I'm sure it's similar to the peanut shell though!

I LOVE my Hotsling right now.

LOVE IT.

MOby is too hot with summer and Isabel has really started to love sitting up in the Hotsling and looking around.

We have this one and one other that isn't on the site.. it's ugly. It's super easy to get them in and out.

The only downside is that my shoulder has started hurting a bit b/c I'm not switching much.

BUT...I had a ring sling once and HATED it. I know a pouch sling is different, but those who have used either sling, what do you think? Also what specific pouch sling did you like best? I'm looking at the New Native and the Peanut shell ones.

Donna, I don't know any brands. I also hated ring slings but found the pouch sling comfy. But one thing I did learn about pouch slings is that for me, they need to be much more snug than the sizing charts say, even with gigantic babies. When I made mine, with the sizing in the instructions, the baby was hanging way down by my tummy.

I have been using my faux-moby a lot lately. I think I like it best for back carrying. Very comfortable even with Biruk being so heavy. Between him popping molars and heading into his second year, he is sooooo cranky sometimes and it's nice to just be able to strap him on my back. He can be close to me, which is what he wants, but he's also out from underfoot which is what *I* want.

Thanks, Maggie. That's good to know about the sizing. Not pregnant, I'm a 40DD and wear either XL or 1X. So should I go a size smaller when ordering?

Er, Donna, I don't want to tell you wrong! I made my pouch, so I just adjusted it myself. If you ordered the correct size and then found it too big, all you'd need is one straight seam to correct that.

When I looked at the sizing on the New Native chart, my nonpregnant size is at the top of the L size, bottom of the XL size, where they overlap. So I told my mom to go with the L since I also intend to lose weight and not gain it.

I'm doing the kangaroo carry with Caden in the sling for the first time today. He seems to like it a lot, but it just looks like it would be so uncomfortable to have his little legs up like that (so his feet are almost up to his face). Does anyone else use that carry? Does it seem okay?

can you find a link to show kangaroo in a sling? I only do THIS in the pouch/sling we have. It's the second one, the modified cradle but her feet don't sit that high, they are more out and down.

Of course, they say it's fine in the video, but I want to make sure...

hmm I would think so until about 5-6 months when their hips start to solidify more.

I may try that with little one later on today.. refresh me on how old Caden is now?

ETA : the hold in my link they say is ok up to 4 months btw.

I think if Caden doesn't complain, then it should be fine. Gabby has always let us "know" when she was uncomfortable in the sling.

haha ya, blue feet would be bad.

her arm has gotten mottled a few times from the way she likes to be sitting and I freaked out thinking circulation was cutting off but she was just chilly on that arm.. Panic over, tucked her arm and all was well.

Mary has never liked being tucked in. She likes to have it all hang out. I'm looking forward to her being a little bigger so I can strap her to my back for walks (I have the Moby btw)

Has anyone else seen the 'Tummy 2 Tummy' video?? It goes through how to select and wear ring slings, pouch slings, asian carriers, and wraps!! It's a really great resource and has like EVERY carry on it - Tammy I'll have to check out the asian carriers section to see what they say!

Tammy - on the video, they showed 4 front carries: baby face in with feet in and feet out, and baby face out with feet in and feet out. It looked pretty comfy to me!

It seems to spread his legs apart so much, I'm worried it's too far....

when I put jack in facing out I don't tie it til he is in it and set where his legs need to be....if necessary the fabric in the middle gets squished together to be easier o his legs...then when he is set I tie it off
