Erick's grandma asked him to do the funeral, and he turned her down. I'm so disappointed. I'm trying to not be, I'm trying to be compassionate towards my husband and realize it may just be too difficult for him, but I just feel like it would have been really special for the family if he could have done it. I don't know why I'm so upset about it.

Lisa, I'm sorry for your family's loss.

At my mom's funeral, I sang. But that was it. I knew I could not handle speaking. Singing I could do, but ask me to speak a verbal tribute to my mother before the song . . . I knew there was no way I could sing if I did that.

Yeah, I know it would be hard. He also didn't have time to think it over, and at the time they thought the funeral was going to be Thursday and didn't think he had enough time. It's going to be Friday. He says now if he knew it was going to be Friday, he probably would have said yes, but it's too late now. I've gotten over it now, and I think his family understands. I still think it would have been nice, but I was able to get over being upset at him by the time he came home from work.

Aww, poor Erick. I can understand him not wanting to do it, especially on short notice. I don't think I could even hold it together long enough to get through a song, let alone a eulogy. I always bawl at funerals even for people who I wasn't that close to.

Emily, Timothy was just in here a few minutes ago with a Shel Silverstein book called, "Runny Babbit" and he was pointed to the picture of the rabbit on the front and saying, "Uncle Matt! Uncle Matt!" That's the second time he's found a "picture" of Uncle Matt. The first time was a few weeks ago--he found a coloring book with a picture of Roadrunner, and he was calling him Uncle Matt, too. What has Matt been teaching him???

ROFLOL! That's hilarious. I'll have to tell Matt. . .I know he'll get a kick out of that.

Oh, he found a picture of you, too. A dark haired, Asain lady. I didn't really see the resemblence myself, but he insisted it was Aunt Emily.

Yeah, it kind of got lost, didn't it?

Well, I haven't been doing much quilting lately, and I've been doing a lot of reading and cleaning and organizing. So things have shifted around a bit. Plus I actually started reading a chat thread after all--the homeschool chat thread, so I did find a place to post the chatty stuff. But anyone can still post in here if they like--it's not totally dead yet!

I didn't know that timothy and David shared birthdays! I probably did at one time, but forgot.

we didn't get to see much of the lunar eclipse. It was dissappointing. the moon went and hid behind the hills.

Homeschooling is going pretty good hear too. I think that it is going to be our best year yet. It just feels a lot different.

I didn't remember that, either! That's cool! We should have a combined birthday party someday for them.

That's too bad that you didn't get to see the eclipse. See, there's a downside to having so many hills!

I'm glad to hear that homeschooling is going well for you this year.

My kids are bugging me to get started on school already. Sheesh, it's not even 7:30 yet!

Don't let the folks in the punctuation/grammar/spelling thread see that sentence.

Rachel's such a nut. She says just whatever she thinks. She gets away with it now because she's cute, but one of these days she's going to have to learn to keep her mouth shut!

If Rachel is anything like her mother, LLisa will probably get to enjoy many other such experiences for the rest of her lifetime. Llisa is such a wonderful person that I hope ALL of her kids are as outspoken, have that twinkle in her eye that makes people nervous, and has LLisa's flair for keeping such a close relationship with trouble.

It's a nerve-wracking thing to have kids like me! At least only two of them seem to have problems with saying things that would be better off unsaid. I actually have one that's pretty quiet!

Poor Timothy! I just read in your blog about him thinking mosquitoes were big scary monsters and that they ate his shoes. . .I laughed my head off and felt terrible for him at the same time. Man, I miss the little booger. It was really good to see you and the girls on Saturday!

Yeah, he's such a cutie. I enjoy calming him down and holding him when he's upset. He just milks it for all it's worth. Long after he's done crying he'll still give a periodic little whine so I will keep comforting him.

It was fun seeing you Saturday, too. Thanks for all the ballet stuff and the Grandma and Grandpa doll. The book will be really helpful for remembering all the ballet terms for the class I'm teaching in the fall. The ballet suits are great, too. The girls were disappointed that they fit me instead of them.
