Marsha, I'm sorry to hear about your sister. I hope something can be done to help her get better.

That's strange about not being able to make long distance calls. Is there any way that that can be sorted out so you can contact your sister?

the meds worked; she's okay. she needs to say 'o, well,' more often, but
I'm not sure she will. i would say she needs to cast her cares on the Lord, but I think that's even less likely.

My aide only works two to three hours on holidays. The nurse came to take my bp, so I used the bathroom, my friend pat is bringing me a fast-food meal. I rarely have junk, so today's my day.
The weekend aide was ok. She remembers me from the nursing home. She thinks I've lost 20 pounds. If I have, I need to lose another 20 pounds or 40, if I go with my doctor's recommendation. I'm not sure I could maintain at 160; I know I could stay at 180 aa long as I keep my mindset right.

My blood pressure was 116/72. I figured it would be that. I'm in chill mode today. I fretted about the weekend, but it was ok. Then I realized God's looking out for me. The boys will be home around 8.

Glad your weekend aide worked out okay. And that your blood pressure's down. And your sister has stabilized.

Oh Marsha! I'm so glad that your bp is down. That other reading was just plain scary!

Glad to hear that Don has been well enough to get back home some.

Hi Marsha. I'm glad your bp is down, and that Don is getting better.

I'm glad you have such a wonderful friend in Pat. She's been such a blessing to you.

How are your sons doing?

I'm fine. ((((Trish)))). I pray peace for you. You are such a blessing to me and others. I struggle with emotions as well. A continual battle, it seems, but it's not as severe as yours, from what I gather from reading your blog.

Hi, Deb and Sharon.

I went to the library and got a few movies to watch. I can get my bed into what would be a good reading position, but I can't reach the light switch. I'm hoping to find a solution. Before I married, I had a desk lamp with an easy-turn switch on the base. Wish I could find one now.

I've had a therapist show my aide how to do range-of-motion exercises. He was the most familiar with cerebral palsy any I've met. He confirmed things I've found on the web and what a former doctor of mine said. I may just have cerebral palsy after all. He said symptoms do change when getting older. Muscle tone can vary. I think that's what throws me threw a loop every time it changes. Right now it's kinda what I'm accustomed to. I hate when it's tighter, but, so far, no muscles have locked up. That's a blessing.

I asked if he knew why that seemingly healthy 70-year-old woman died. He said coughing gets more difficult. I could see that happening to me.

I did look forward to heaven, but oddly enough, the closer I get, the less ready to leave here I feel

Marsha --- have you thought about getting a touch lamp? Those are great. Just touch it and it dims or turns on/off.

Hi, Chistine, I've never seen a tough lamp. Where are they available? Price range?

I was going to suggest that very thing, Christine! Marsha, you can sometimes find them at Walmart, and if not other department stores might carry them. I bought 2 of them for our bedside tables years ago and love them. All you have to do is touch any metal part of the lamp to turn it on, up or off -- ours has 3 levels of brightness. One touch thing messed up and Bill put a regular switch on it, but one is still working great. I like it cuz it doesn't make any noise to wake Bill up if I need to read myself back to sleep in the middle of the night. The sound of the lightswitch would wake him most times, then he'd complain about the light . . . . I hope you can find one. I think a swing-arm wall lamp would also work if you could put it up right above the head of your bed.

The girls & I are going to church tonight -- granddaughters are here for the week. Guess we better be off.

They usually say if they are a touch lamp. Any store that sells lamps should have a touch lamp. They are only a little more than regular lamps because of the touch mechanism. They are worth it though, I think.

Actually, no. I've known it all along. Just seeing and remarking on further evidence.

Thanks Marsha.

Touch lamps are good. We've got some of those. That way you don't have to try and fiddle with switches. A much better idea.
