I'm awake here. Having an ambulance here helps.

Sharon, I just read Angie's update on her blog. That's wonderful that she's feeling so good and positive right now and that she's observed the bumps going down! I'm still keeping her in my prayers.

Yeah! I was away all weekend. Came home to learn we had seven medals (finally!) and the count is now at nine. It's about time!

Trish, what was with the ambulance?

Sharon, how was your weekend?

In her blog she says that John had a bloody nose.
I'm wondering how it turned out ... if he had to go to the hospital or if they were able to get it to stop.

Thanks Karlie!
That was great wasn't it? I hadn't heard anything since the day I "thought" they were home from their vacation and started to wonder but it was good to read that she is feeling better and seeing results.

Thank you ALL for your well wishes about my weekend away. It was a mixture of a lot of different emotions, some I didn't even realize until I was talking to Josh Sunday evening.
I took LOTS of pictures of various things, but one of the wonderful things about the time was sitting outside, hearing the wind in the trees, smelling the pines, seeing chickadees and yellow finches and hummingbirds alight on flowers and a bird bath only a couple of arms lengths away. No city sounds. But it also seemed to set up a little melancholy that I would divert by getting involved in conversation.

I took pictures of some of the art of my brother-in-law's and totally enjoyed his stories about a lot of it. Bob does a lot of "tongue in cheek" stuff and a lot of whimsey. Often people don't get the point of some of his stuff. LOL! But he has won awards and had things written about him. He had no art training of any kind before he started and it's pretty amazing what he can do.

I think Sam (Qtman) would have a ball talking to Bob and talking wood.
Sam, if you're reading...that is a beautiful cradle that you had in your avatar and I did follow the link to the other pictures.

Well, I will tell more about the weekend in little spurts along the way. I probably need to head to bed as the first step of a crown is happening at 8am tomorrow.

Also, I don't "think" I am in "danger" but there are going to be 5 people cut from our company. Gannett nationwide was cutting 10000, and got that down quite a bit with people already ready to retire and stuff like that, but there remained 600 to go.
I ask for prayers for whomever the 5 are, and for the man who had to make the decision. I don't think that can be easy for anyone. But he has a job to do to.

The paramedics managed to stop his nose bleed. After they left, it started up again. On and off for about 3.5 hours. We had seriously thought about getting the ambulance back again, but John is so petrified of what they will do to them there after the last time this happened, that he didn't want to go anywhere the hospital. Thankfully it eventually stopped and stayed that way. He's got an appointment with his doctor tomorrow and he's going to get a referral to an ENT specialist.

Glad it stopped Trish!! Will send a prayer about his appointment.

I read about this in one of the trade mags and wondered...

I will pray that you not be one of the five. Whoever has to make the decision does not have an easy task ahead. I will pray for him/her also. {{{{{{Sharon}}}}}} Thanks for sharing about your weekend. Will you be showing us any of your photos?

Sharon my husbands company laid off 7 people last week but it was more 'trimming the fat' than actual need to reduce staffing if that makes sense. THey all got GREAT severance packages though.

Two companies in his field in Austin just laid off 90+ each due to canceled projects.. We are hoping we can get a couple of friends out here and into some good companies.

We are really glad that we didn't go after a job in Austin though.

Lay offs are scary when there is only one breadwinner in the family. I about had an anxiety attack when he casually says "So 7 people got laid off today" and didn't say that he wasn't one of them. His arm hurt for a minute after that.

Thank you all for the prayers about work and for the man that has to make the decisions. I also noticed when I saw the quote in Ben's post that I typed 10 thousand instead of one thousand. Sheeesh!

Maggie, my pictures from the weekend are uploaded to my new Photo Bucket account. I have spent most of the evening doing it trying to learn it. I have titled and/or written description of most of them. The Sculptures toward the end are at the Woodson Museum in Wausau and by the time I got to them there was nothing that said I could edit them to add titles. So maybe I used up too much space in that album. We'll see. Anyway..
Wausau Album is Here
Peruse at your leisure and if you have questions or anything just ask here.

I hope the link works. I hope the default is public viewing. If not. It all will have to wait until tomorrow.

I would have hurt his arm too LOL!! You're right ...it's scary. The fact that it seems to be dragged out over the past couple of days continues to make everyone uneasy.

Hey there! Yes, I am. Although not very specifically. It's one of the closest populated places to my family in Northern Wisconsin (Antigo area).

I'm gonna have to check our your pics - but I know it's going to make me homesick! I wish I could come up this fall for fall colors... *sigh*.

How ya doin?

Doin' pretty good today.

Actually the pics I took are pretty specific to their yard and the museum. I didn't take any of the Rib Mountain there or surrounding scenery, so you should be safe looking for now. This past weekend is only the third time I have been to that area over the past 30 years. Wausau really is a pretty town though. We drove almost to Green Bay before we stopped and asked where we went wrong in missing a specific highway. But luckily from the stop we made it was a straight shot on 29 right in to Wausau.

lol about going almost to Green Bay. I don't know that I'm actually familiar with the town of Wausau itself, though. Might be somethin to check out sometime then, huh? Glad you were able to get goin back the right direction!

If you ever go up past Green Bay at night though, make sure you have plenty of gas and don't need to use the bathroom! There is next to nothing open! (A good friend and I learned the hard way... )
