ORIGINAL: TheoCentric Is a potentially censored word about that document even remotely Christlike? What did you exactly disagree with in the document? I didn't have a specific word in mind, though I'm sure I could come up with several if I thought about it for awhile... some sensorable, some just more rude than "flappdoodle". Sorry the sarcasm went over your head. The sarcasm did not get lost on me, but I just thought it was uncalled for. quote:
I disagree with the overall tone of the document, which is blatantly of the "blame Israel for everything" vein. Basically everything from the third paragraph on falls into that catagory, and even the second paragraph is a fairly typical disclaimer added to try to divert attention away from the anti-Israel propaganda to follow. anti-Israel propaganda? blame Israel for everything? I see nothing of the sort. Maybe perhaps your blindness to the situation is causing you to be short-sighted. quote:
I also take issue with the opening paragraph which attempts to give the impression that they speak for more of organized Christianity than they actually do. And you can't get around the fact that the writers are about as biased as they come. One is a writer from Britain's "Guardian" newspaper, which is so far left politically, it makes the NYTimes look conservative, and is notoriously anti-Israel. The other is a writer for a newspaper in Egypt. Nor is it hard to see that the majority of the signatories are either from theologically liberal denominations or RCC, which is historically anti-semitic both theologically and sociologically. The only conservative Protestants on the list are Covenant/Replacement, which isn't surprising in the least. You see now we get down to it. You don't like it because of who signed it. While I will not agree with most of these guys theologically, I will say that I think this is a well-thought out document. Would you have liked it better had it come from Joseph Farra of WND? I'm sure you would have. You probably would not have found anything wrong with it. I'm going to suggest that you take your blinders off and look at the world through God's eyes for once.

The political and theological bent of the signers simply re-enforces the biased nature of the document itself. You keep making broad and sometimes offensive assumptions about where people who disagree with you get their information and ideas from. Contrary to wherever you get your own ideas from, most of us who love Israel and believe that Scripture teaches that God still loves the Jewish people and has a prophetic purpose in mind for them do not follow nuts like Hagee and get our information from WND. Stereotyping those who disagree with you does far more damage to your own credibility than it does to the people you're attacking. To specifically answer your comment, I have no idea who Joseph Farra is, have never used WND for anything other than occasionally looking at someone else's link, and it wouldn't matter a bit who this letter was written by, I'd have major problems with it regardless. quote:
Maybe perhaps your blindness to the situation is causing you to be short-sighted. I'm going to suggest that you take your blinders off and look at the world through God's eyes for once. Very mature... someone disagrees with your take on things, so you respond with childish, ignorant, and rather offensive statements. We could get into a major round of "I know you are but what am I" here, since I could easily make exactly the same statements to you, but what would be the point?

EX-SOLDIERS! Gasp! While I in no way condone this act I do need to point out that just about EVERY citizen of Israel is either an ex-soldier, current soldier or a future soldier. At least I give Haaretz credit for not spinning it that way in the headline. Shows the absolute fallen nature of man, whether Jew or Gentile.

Over 7200 rockets have landed in Sderot and southern Israel in the past 15 months. That's 500 per month, or 16 per day, or one every two hours! Here's a link to When at home in Sderot.

Messianic Jews Win Citizenship Victory in Israel For decades, Israel has made it next to impossible for immigrant Messianic Jews, who affirm belief in Jesus as Messiah, to become citizens of Israel. Often, if Messianic believers disclosed their faith in 'Yeshua,' the name they use for Jesus, government authorities would reject their citizenship application. But last week, the Supreme Court of Israel, ruled on a case involved 12 Messianic Jews who sued the government Ministry of the Interior for their legal 'right of return' (and then to become citizens of Israel). The court in its ruling said: The parties have submitted to us the following notification: “In their notification dated 13.04.08 the Respondents declared, that the fact that a person is a “Messianic Jew” has no bearing on an application according to Sec. 7 of the Law of Citizenship, as well as an application according to Sec. 4(A)(a) of the Law of Return (as long as the person applying according the abovementioned section of the Law of Return is not considered to be Jewish, as described in section 4B of the Law of Return). The Respondents declare that in accordance with their notification they will process the applications of all Petitioners as soon as possible, as well as the application of Alvetina Zibareva, and Valentina Zibareva who requested to join the petition on 01.04.08 to the extent that their request is similar. Due to these circumstances the representatives of the Petitioners requested to remove the petition without a ruling regarding court costs. The Petition is removed by consent as aforesaid.

We continue to support corrupt leaders? Report: Police to confront Olmert with new evidence Channel 2 TV reported on Friday that police will next week question Prime Minister Ehud Olmert in connection with the ongoing corruption investigation. The case centers on U.S. fund-raiser Morris Talansky who allegedly transferred tens of thousands of dollars to Olmert. The delivery of the cash allegedly occurred during Olmert's tenure as Jerusalem mayor for a decade beginning in 1993 or as trade minister beginning in 2003. Police this week questioned two U.S. businessmen in connection to the suspicions. Olmert has been questioned over the allegations once this far.

This from our own President: 'Israel must treat minorities better' US President George W. Bush wrapped up his two-day visit to Israel Friday with a tour and discussion with a group of Israeli youth leaders at the Bible Lands Museum. His second museum visit of the trip, this one illustrates cultures of all civilizations mentioned in the Bible. "What's on my mind is peace," Bush told the group. "I believe it's possible. I know it will happen when young people put their minds together." According to the youngsters, Bush also told them that just as the US changed its treatment of minorities, he hoped that Israeli society could also change the way it treats its minorities.

Report: Israel to return more of West Bank JERUSALEM - Israel has offered to give up more of the West Bank than it had in a previous proposal but still not enough to meet Palestinian demands, Palestinian officials close to peace talks said Sunday. Also Sunday, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas was quoted as telling backers that the negotiations have achieved no progress since they were restarted last November with a pledge to President Bush to try for a full peace treaty by the end of the year. The Palestinian officials said Israel presented its new proposed West Bank map three days earlier in a negotiating session. The proposal would leave about 8.5 percent of the territory in Israeli hands. The last map Israel offered had 12 percent of the West Bank remaining in Israel.

Israel 'has 150 nuclear weapons' Ex-US President Jimmy Carter has said Israel has at least 150 atomic weapons in its arsenal. The Israelis have never confirmed they have nuclear weapons, but this has been widely assumed since a scientist leaked details in the 1980s. Mr Carter made his comments on Israel's weapons at a press conference at the annual literary Hay Festival in Wales.

He said at least. That means there is probably more. We befriend nations with nuclear power and tell nations that desire nuclear power to talk to the hand.

Washington's new Jewish lobby presses Israel Thanks in part to the influence of the pro-Israel lobby group AIPAC, the U.S. government rarely gets tough with Israel, even on issues like Jewish settlement expansion in the West Bank, which Washington views as harmful to the peace process. A new lobby group formed last month, J Street, wants to change that. Founded by a number of liberal Jews, J Street wants to see the administration press Israel not only for an end to settlement construction, but also a real peace effort between Israel and Syria and possibly talks between Israel and Hamas. The group's name is a play on the political geography of downtown Washington, where K street is the traditional hub of lobbyists and J street doesn't exist. Newsweek correspondent Dan Ephron sat down recently with the group's executive director Jeremy Ben-Ami to discuss the organization's agenda.
