Ever witness first hand unusual events that couldn't be explained? Ever saw what you thought to be a ghost?

I have had a couple of strange circumstances happen to me. When I was really young, it was thought that the house that we lived in was haunted and I would see this old lady floating around, a ghost, or more realistically a demon disguised as a ghost.

I lived in another apartment where a lot of strange things would happen; things falling off the wall for no reason, violence and crime happening down the street, fires, etc. Also thought to be demonic.

What have been your experiences and how did end up surviving these events?

several years ago, I lived on an acreage which had an old barn. At night the hayloft was pitch black because there were no windows.
One night I needed to go up to the hayloft to put another coat of paint on a rootbeer float stand for the Boy Scouts. My flashlight was not very bright, but I had rigged up a light that I could plug into an extension cord.
As I was attempting to plug in the light, I heard a deep groaning behind me. I thought one of the horses had colic and went over to an opening to check on them. The groaning was coming from an old easy chair we had in the loft for the kids to play with.
My first instinct was to run for the stairs, in which case I probably would have fallen down the stairs.
I went back to the light and tried to plug it in. The groaning continued and the light would not come on.
Finally a phrase from A Witches Invitation by Carmen came to mind and I shouted "I've been bought by the blood of Jesus Christ, now leave me alone." The groaning stopped, the light came on, and I put another coat of paint on the rootbeer float stand.

I have spent 10 yrs of my childhood terrified because something was in my house. Only I felt it and saw it at nite when everyone was asleep. I would wake up screaming and noone would even hear me. It was a demon , that took over my family and caused 4 of them to become addicted to different substances.
I know it was a demon because it followed ME to 3 different houses after. It can't do anything anymore thanks to Jesus. So it tries to bother me in my dreams.

I feel that as Christians we should not entertain and exploit these ideas of paranormal sightings and spooky experiences. I place these things in the same box as alien sightings, it's all balderdash and this is exactly what the devil wants Christians to explore because it ultimately takes the focus off of Christ.

Furthermore, for true Christians, demons cannot read our thoughts nor can they get into our dreams. They can oppress us as they observe our weakeness and present traps for us to fall.

Read the book and get the facts. Christ came to send this junk to hell and that is where we need to leave it.

I have to agree with walker on this one.
This can be very destructive by taking our focus from where it should be. The Lord and his word.
Also for those who have had things happen explained or not most would rather forget it.
Dwelling on these things does not do anything to edify your walk with the Lord.

We live in a time when a lot of these kind of events are happening, and being widely communicated.

I strongly believe that it's not for most Saints to search these matters out. Especially if you have the luxury of never having experienced any manifestations personally. For children, for obsessive personalities types, or for the emotionally unstable, it can be potentially harmful. There are plenty of obstacles to overcome in everyday life. It is for the experienced, the strong in faith, and spiritually mature:

But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, [even] those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. -Hbr 5:14

Having stated that, there are superstitions surrounding the supernatural that are perhaps equally dangerous: 1) Believing it is altogether a myth and 2) Being afraid of it -are perhaps the worst.

Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; [nor] for the arrow [that] flieth by day -Psa 91:5

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. -1Jo 4:18

When these kind of events impact your life (or the lives of those around you) it may be difficult, impossible, or unwise to just "pretend" like they didn't happen. If you do choose to understand such things, I highly recommend doing it prayerfully. Always turning to the word of God to secure your thoughts, and dwelling on sound doctrine all the more:

Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. -1Cr 4:1

Very basically, there is a common "bag of tricks" used by mischievous spirits. I myself had a virtually identical experience to Joensie's (above) while with a very close friend -who also heard it. Until that event, I thought it was mostly all jokes, lies, and hallucinations. People in past times turned to members of the body of Christ to resolve these events, but now to scientists. Who can do nothing.

This is interesting topic. When I was younger, I used to have a white figure floating above me. I saw it very clearly and I was paralyzed. I mean really paralyzed...I couldn't move or scream. I was scared. Lord knows I have tried...He really does know. Then it just went away one day but it went before I actually came to Christ. What I mean by that is, I grew up in the church but that doesn't make me a Disciple unless I give my life to Christ. I still do not know what it was and I still think about it. As Christians we do need to be vigilant on such spirits. My family has generational curses and spirits that the Lord is still getting rid of, one family member at a time.

Believe me, so did I. But I no longer have that luxury. Its not ghosts (spirits of the dead), sometimes it is just imagination, but other times it is: Mischievous & Seducing Spirits

Some "Christians" don't believe there is a Devil either. There should be no Saint among us who believes that these types of spirits do not exist. The word "phantasm" is used in the New Testament twice. Even if some of us are ignorant about this, we all should know that Eve was not deceived by her "imagination".

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places]. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. -Eph 6:12-13

If we use the Bible as our foundation of expertise in the matter, we can know several things (if you want to argue any of these points biblically, please do!):

1. The spirit realm is real.
2. The spirit realm is inhabited by 4 kinds of spirits: God, Human, Angels, and Demons (fallen Angels).
3. There is activity in the spiritual realm.
4. The spirit realm can interact with the physical realm.
5. The spiritual realm has rules and boundaries concerning this interaction.
6. Due to these rules, none of the interactions of spiritual and physical realms are between human spirits and human spirits.

It is well said that:

I agree with you completely. This is not an area for every christian. Its a special calling to deal with such things. They are real and these things do occur.

the adversary is real, his role is to try to make you as miserable as he is, he didn't obtain a body like we did, if you invite that element into your conversation or whatever, since 1/3 of the hosts of heaven are earthbound they are going to listen, it's better not to get caught up in stuff, he has been around for thousands of years, so he's very clever at trying to get people to perceive things as they really aren't, the real thing to do is to stay away from movies and anything to do with the ideas, he is the great counterfeiter of the truth, put your time and energy into going toward the light instead of the darkness, sometimes he makes the darkness seem as light, your job will be to discern this through the enticings of the holy spirit, as long as you are obeying the commandments to the best of your ability the Lord will always lead you to the light and the truth of things

You know coming from an occultic family, I know about this, but this is NOT what matters.

I guarantee the devil won't come to my front door like the exorcist movie, because I would just say, "Oh it's you, whatever, be gone in the name of Jesus" it wouldn't work.

He doesn't NEED to do that.

He does very well finding some small crack in the wall, like the snake that he is and lying to me. I miss that far more often and suffer needlessly because I buy into a lie.

I pray that am very diligent in guarding my mind and heart against the subtle twist of the truth.

Yes and absolutely they occur. And I agree with Katie and Manimal. Not every one is equipped to deal with varying spirits. It is not for the faint-hearted, the doubting and unbelieving. They are weak and would be a toy for the devil to play with. The spirit realm is altogether real...too real, I wish that it were not so...but I would be a liar and my spirit is my witness and lies not when it comes to dealing with manifestations. You know, I find it strange that when people say they see angels...no one blinks an eye, but when one says that they've seen a demon...the topic becomes taboo and we are deemed to be focusing too much on the devil or are just "imagining" things like we are stupid or out of our mind. Well I will be one to declare that I HAVE THE MIND OF CHRIST Phil 2:5..without a doubt and I am persuaded and know that I am HIS and HE is mine. And I have seen things...in dreams and it was not pretty. Earlier this year, my sister saw an apparition-like thing in my mom's house. It was tall, well over 7 ft and all white smoky looking, with a hat on, it turned its weird face toward my sister, smirked and whoofed(can't describe how it moved) up into the attic through the ceiling in an instant. How or why was it there? Don't know. It came from my brother's room who lives with my mom and he disbelieves Jesus and His gospel and has been outspoken about it. He has worshipped the idol buddha and studies that kind of religion. He is a heroin/cocaine/marijuana addict as well and is over 50 yrs old. Like another poster said, if I see one, I just call on Jesus, command it to go..and it has no choice but to leave. Now, it could be said that those who have not experienced manifestations may not be a threat to satans kingdom. ok? But to those who have experienced may have something in them that the devil hates and he is trying his best to deter them from their destiny and purpose. One thing we CANNOT afford to do...is be ignorant. WAKE UP, SAINTS!! Don't be disbelieving but be ever watchful, sober and alert, having your armour on at all times, in all places, everywhere for it is Jesus Who keeps us and protects us against every evil work, praise the LORD. I pray for those warriors, be not afraid nor dismayed of what you see...another poster said they are imitating our God...lets us know that God is ALL POWERFUL, ALL GLORIFUL, ALL HOLY AND NO ONE OR NO THING CAN OVERPOWER HIM, THE LORD OF HOSTS, CREATOR OF ALL THINGS HUMAN, SPIRIT AND BEAST. There is a spiritual world that is unseen to most.
Some of us get a chance to actually see or hear them.


I have dealt with those spirits of darkness many times, but will not recount the incidences here due to those who do not believe.

The one thing I have learned through it is this,
Be sure you are prayed up, geared up and "locked and loaded" before you delve into "casting demons out" or "rebuking satan".

I can agree that we should not be talking about the devil as if to glorify him.. but if a fellow Christian got scared at something they saw, and wants to know what is it / what to do about it, that would be appropriate.. The Bible doesn't shy away from talking about the devil and his lies and dirty work.

But we ought to be equipped to be aware of what goes on so that if we do get a spirit appear before us, we know what it is and how to fight it, using the Word of God as our armour and ammuniton, and so not to be afraid of it.

when a neighbor friend's daughter wrecked her car, it had flipped and smashed in, she said she had her seat belt on, a few moments later a car drove by and seeing the wreck, called 911. when the ambulance got there they found her unharmed laying by the side of the road. ... She only remembers a man in a light orange tee shirt helping her get out of the car.... it would have taken the jaws of life to get her torn apart body out, but that is the story she is sticking to.

My point was do not dwell on it, do not seek it and do not be afraid.

There is a blood line he can not cross.

We have established in this thread already this subject is not for everyone: Please do not keep focusing on the warnings. Many Saints, myself included, are unwilling to share our experiences here because of unbelief.

If you don't have a story to share, relate about, or help someone else to understand, find another thread. There is no need to accuse one another about these events or relatedly warn others about the dangers.

There is a danger in sugar coating the truth as well.

Many times supernatural events are used to isolate, confuse, and cause divisions between those in the same household or between believers and nonbelievers.

Having stated that, about this specific event:

This "white form" (or black form) wearing a hat and or a cape is one of the more common manifestations from the general "bag of tricks". Coming out of a particular persons room "accuses him". Either correctly or incorrectly hardly matters. Moving to a traditionally spooky part of the house: closet, basement, attic adds to the traditional fear and eeriness of these locations.

My sisters BF had something very similar happen to him and a friend of his. They were in a bad crash and within seconds a man appeared who borrowed his phone and placed a call to his passengers Mother. He said he was "a friend of the families". My sisters BF didn't have or even know her number and the passenger didn't have his cell phone with him, and was too disoriented to speak.

This event was reported to me very quickly. The mysterious stranger didn't appear to have a car, showed up on the freeway, and by his phone call (the Mom didn't recognize his voice as anyone she knew) he was able to get his Mom to the hospital as he arrived there for treatment. The injuries were minor, and both driver and passenger recovered very quickly. -He was gone by the time the police and ambulance showed up.

Angel help? I think so. It is interesting that in both the above cases the angel did not prevent the accident, only minimize it.

I can't strongly recommend this statement more. Remember they asked Jesus "why could we not cast it out." Dealing with demons on this level requires much authority and power in God. Its definetly not for the baby , teen or young adult christian.
