I'm going to jump in and join you!!!!!

I went to a job interview yesterday... it's a part time job that allows me to be home to meet the school bus by 3pm. The job itself is fine. I liked the person who interviewed me. The whole interview was great. It's very possible that I got the job... BUT..

- The job is in a warehouse office... the place is dirty and it smells.
- The warehouse is behind a cemetary.. there are more dead people than living people near by. There is another business behind it but I didn't see anyone.
- I'll be working alone most of the time with sales people coming in and out all day. I saw a huge vault in the room I was interviewing... I'm thinking they keep cash in it??? So, I have safety concerns. A lady alone in an isolated warehouse with cash!!!

I don't want to shut a door that God may be openning for me. Would any of you take a job at such a location?

It would not bother me, but my church was next to a graveyard. And being alone would be so great for getting your work done!

I have been interviewing all week. I have another one today and monday. Tuesday I have to go to a class on unemployment. It is going to teach me how to find a job. LOL!

I am frustrated. I applied for a position and I got an email late at night on Wednesday from the recruiter. It is a great fit for my experience. I sent an email that night saying I would call the next day, and he called me in the morning and left a message to call him. He left two numbers and I left a message on both, and tried them all day, and did not get him. I tried them again this morning and left two messages again. So I am going to let that go, because they reposted the ad on line. But that is frustrating. Here they have the best person, and they won't bother to call me back! Ugh! LOL!

I don't think that sounds lame for a follow up letter. That is pretty much all I put. Unless we talked about something unique in the interview.

May be it's not a real job. Some online jobs are already filled and they keep them there to simply collect resumes for their data base. They'll probabily call you weeks from now for another job.

I decided not to take the job at the warehouse. I talked about it with dh and my sister and they didn't think it was a good place for me. I prayed for a sign and I got one. I got a call from another place that sounds much better. I have an interview Monday and I'm excited about it.

I got a job! Yeah! I start some time next week after my background check clears! Yeah! I am so excited. This is a total answer from God! And it is more money than my old job!

I'm still plugging along. DQ didn't hire me. The local hardware store didn't call me. Even Tim Horton's didn't call me, and I considered them a "fall back" position. It's discouraging!

(((((Tricia)))) It's discouraging to keep getting "no"... but "yes" is just around the corner![;)] At least that's what I tell myself. [:D] Each "no" is one step closer to "yes".

Yeah it is very hard because I am sure they think you are too qualified to work there.

When you apply to these places, do you think you could leave your education off your resume?

What, you think my BS in mathematics and 8 years in an office position makes me look too qualified to sell coffee? [8|]

I do state in the cover letter that I may look overqualified, but that this is the type of job I want. I'm not looking for advancement; I'm looking for someplace to go, earn a little money, meet people, and be an asset to a company.

I think that they will look at that and think that you will run the first chance you get! LOL!

One recruiter suggested it. She said it will help me get an entry level job if I want that.

The total blessing in my new job is that I am getting severence while I am working, so with that money, I will be able to pay off all my debt. Then the only debt my husband and I will have is our mortage. I am so happy. That is really the best thing. The timing is that I will have paid off the last payment when I get the last check from my old company. God is so Good!

I got a job through the temp agency.... I start Monday. The job is exactly what I want, it pays great, it's 20 minutes from my house and I'm done at 2pm! I feel blessed!

I am hoping my temp agency pulls through for me. The temp to hire job I interviewed at won't call the temp agency back with their decision. My agent us going to look for some other stuff for me to interview at.

It is sad though that my great agent is leaving on Friday. :( The other agents there seem to be good though also.

I'm glad someone started this thread because I hope to be interviewing soon. I'll be sending out a big batch of resumes in the next few days.

It depends on the mood I'm in, but job hunting feels like you are inviting so many people to judge and reject you. Six months ago I sent out about 7 resumes and got 5 rejections (only 2 made it to the interview stage) and 2 no-calls. It was rather demoralizing. I decide to wait through the summer until I got my kids back into school and use the time to improve my skills and portfolio.

I'm a landscape architect who quit to raise children. Everything went digital while I was in retirement, so I have had to learn computer drafting. Also I'm in the odd position of having a junior level of work experience (which is 20 years old) yet being old enough to be project manager.

Well, I sent out 4 resumes on Friday and have 3 more ready to go tomorrow. I shopped and bought an interview suit, but I need someone to look me over to see if I got the accessories right. I'm getting my hair cut Wednesday, and will paint my nails for the first time in months. Did any of you guys worry so about your appearance?

I desided to keep a record of time spent writing cover letters. I wish I had started when I was writing my resume and assembling my portfolio; I want a record to prove to my-self that it is as hard as it feels.

I used to go *all out* for my interviews, but then I realized if I get hired I am not going to take the time to put on makeup every day so they might as well see me as how I would show up for work (dressed nicely but not spending an hour on my hair and makeup).

Hurray! I have an interview on Monday.

I wondering if I should mention my (soon to be x-) husband. He is in the same profession as I and it's a rather small field so he may be known to them. That is possibly bad if they are concerned about confidentiality. However, (if I knew that was an issue to them) I could explain that he is wishing for a divorse and we don't discuss business, but I really don't want to get into it. But if I don't mention it at all (say when they ask how I found out about their firm), it will perhaps seem strange later on.



Another firm replied that they were reviewing many applications and would let me know if they wished to interview me.

This is from 8 resume packages sent out 4 and 5 days ago.

Well, Monday of this week I had a working interview at a holistic medicine doctor's office. I would have loved to have taken the job but they only offered me part-time and my husband wants me to get a full-time job with benefits.

Tuesday I had an interview at a place that manufactured slot machines to work in the shipping department. I didn't get the job there.

Thursday I got to do a fun one day of temping at the temp agency for someone who called in sick.

Monday (the 24th) I have an interview somewhere. I shall see how that goes.

I finally had someone here from unemployment call me after my checks being on hold for five weeks. They decided to turn down my claim. It says I am reeligable after I work for ten weeks making $209 a week. Alrighty then.

My problem is the opposite. All the firms seem to want full time and I want part time so my daughter doesn't have to always be in after school care.

My interview went well. I think I may have talked too much and been too intense, but mayber it was OK because I got a call back later that day to schedule a 2nd interview.

Not here. I sent out a couple more resumes but didn't hear back. I'm starting to think I'll have to broaden my job search to the next city over as well. I really didn't want to do that, though.
