God has really put it on my heart to pray for celebrities and public figures, Christian or otherwise. I invite you to post names of those who need prayer, here are a few to start us off.
Loreena McKennitt - A singer. She says she is a spiritual explorer, and, as one site says, "Loreena has stated that she believes in the existence of a higher power, but thinks it is more important to acknowledge that there is a sophisticated power at the root of human existence than to be able to describe or quantify it in any particular way." Please pray that she finds the true God.
Hayley Westenra - A young (20-year-old) singer. She says she's a relatively new Christian, let's pray that she continues to grow in her faith.
Beverly Cleary - The famous childrens' writer... she's now 90 years old. I've read both of her memoirs and I don't think she is saved. Let's pray that she gets saved soon if she is not, and forgives her mother, with whom she had a really rocky relationship (again, if she hasn't yet).

I ask the Lord to bring into the light, Britney Spears, Linsey Lohan, and thank you for changing Paris Hilton. Jesus, please let them see you in their lives. Jesus, you are the only one who can change them. Settle their partying spirits, subdue their love for alcohol, and enjoy life. Jesus, send someone across their path to speak the truth of you to their spirit. Thank you in Your name. Amen.

This is a great thread . I hope it keeps going . Maybe this will encourage some . I prayed for many years for the salvation of country singer George Jones . Then one day a friend emailed me transcripts from an interview he did on the 700 Club . In it he talked about how he came to know Jesus as his Savior ! Praise the Lord !
Heavenly Father I do lift all these people named here to You . Father I ask that You would work mightily in their lives to bring them to true repentance and accepting Your Son as their Lord and Savior .
I pray for these young woman who seem to be so hurting and confused and spiritualy lost . I pray Lindsey , Brittany , & Paris would come to know you in a real and personal way as their Redeemer . I pray for Cher and Madonna who are so in need of Your love and salvation .
I pray for Loreena , Hayley , and Beverly . Father I ask You move them to seek YOu and receive Jesus as Lord and Savior .
I pray for Johnny D. Tom H. and Mike V. Lord You know what these men believe and the great needs they have . I ask Father that Your Spirit would speak to them , and prompt them to seek Your Word and find Jesus , who is the Way , the Truth , and the Light . Your word tells us that no man comes to the Father but by Jesus . Help all these people to kknow this is true . In Jesus name Amen

Father,
In addition to these others that are mentioned, I ask You to draw Opra Winfrey into a close relationship with You. You may have already used her, especially regarding her generous heart toward the poor and hungry, but please give her an accurate understanding of You and of what it is to walk with You according to Your Word, the Bible. In Jesus' name I ask this. Amen.

i wanna pray for Lindsey Lohan cuz of all the problems in her life
i mean, her parents divorce, dad in jail, her health problems from drinking and smoking
possibly going to jail and she''s what, only 21 or 22 years old? it's just really really sad
does anyone remember her as the cute girl from "The Parent Trap"?

Yes I pray for them too. Lord Please lead them to know Jesus. Please remove my cynicism towards them - I am a sinner myself, and can only know God through the finished sacrifice work of Jesus at the cross. In Jesus' name I pray.

Thank you Lord for bringing so many to this thread. :)
Let's also pray for Charlotte Church... she's the one who sang opera since the age of twelve, and recently turned to pop. Unfortunately, she has also dressed very inapproprately and filmed very 'raunchy' music videos. She's currently pregnant with a baby fathered by her boyfriend -- whom she lives with but says she didn't feel the need to marry.  Let's pray for her.

I'd like to quote this important point. Let's pray that God helps us to love and not judge those celebrities that we don't particularly like. It's something I struggle with too.

The director/producer/writers of those horrible and hideous movies titled SAW, SAW II, etc....
All the director/producers/ actors who minimize human life, commitment, fidelity, joy, love, faithfulness, etc...They basically trash God and His Design for us as humans.
All the actors and actresses who think Budha is their Jesus. (quote)
Richard Gere, Goldie Hawn, etc...
All the Christian Scientists, i.e. Tom Cruise.
Lord, they are lost wealthy people. No more, no less.

I've been praying for Val Kilmer to become a Christian ever since his role in The Ten Commandments: The Musical. That was a VERY powerful and I think the best version EVER. Has anyone ever seen this movie?
Val was raised in the Christian Science Doctrine. They do teach a lot of the Bible, but in some ways, it is very different. I'm praying for him to sense the Holy Spirit all the time.
I am praying for others too.

I know her dad Michael Lohan has become a christian in the last year while he was in jail

Very good idea for a thread! I pray in agreement for the celebrities listed here, and want to especially say a prayer for Charlotte Church. I was a fan of hers years ago, but am very disappointed in her current un-Christian behavior.
I'm afraid I try to pay as little attention as possible to current singers, actors & actresses, etc., but do pray for Jesus to touch the lives of Britney Spears and also her sister Lindsey. I pray that God will work a powerful change for both of them.

This is a great idea for posts. I feel celebrities are in such a traumatic spot. My heart has also been pulled to pray for the young women.
Britney Spears is my biggest concern, and her sister Jamie-Lynn. Lindsey Lohan, Paris/Nicky Hilton, Katie Holmes, Jessica Simpson.
Lord, please lift these young ladies up to you, who according to reports, have known you at one time. Lord, let them not be seducted by the glitz and glamour of their current lives that Satan makes to look so tempting, when they continue in the same spiral they began in and let them realize that it truly leads them nowhere. Let them know You love them, and please let them know that many of us care about them, and want them to be safe and pull closer to You. Please let them find strength from you and that you've placed within them to stand up for what they truly want and what they want to exhibit in Your name. Let them remember they have value in this world, and a true purpose. Let them not be caught up any longer in situations and areas that bring them down. Give them clarity of mind and focus on the ultimate goal of life everlasting. Amen.

I too want to pray especially for Britney Spears. The other morning I was listening to a radio station that said they had heard a Psychic prediction that Britney would commit suicide by the end of the year. I'm sorry everybody that I am sharing this, but please pray she gets the help she needs. I too feel so compelled to pray for celebrities. Money and Fame aren't everything.
Lord, thank You for revealing to us those who are in desperate need of prayer. Lord, I believe in the power of prayer, for healing and restoration. In Jesus name amen

A Call to Prayer for Britney Spears

This is a LONG overdue call to prayer for Britney Spears that I've felt in my spirit for quite some time.
Lately Britney has been in the spotlight probably more than any other celebrity in Hollywood. Due to misfortunes in her personal life and the paparazzi having a field day with their photos and headlines, this young woman has to be at her wits end.
What many do not know is that Britney Spears was raised in the church, and a 2004 article from WorldNet Daily says that Britney and her mother responded to an altar call in Inglewood, California.
I'm not going to try to guess at the "depth" of Britney's walk with God, but the fact remains that the Seed of the Word has been planted. We could very well be holding up our Sister in prayer!
Take this time to check yourself of any judgemental feelings that you may have towards Britney Spears (or any celebrity for that matter). Let's speak LIFE with our tongues and not death Church!
Please join me in this prayer:
Father, we just lift up Britney Spears right now. God, we don't know exactly what she's going through right now, but you do!
Father draw her close, and reveal to her your Great Love! Pour out your Spirit upon her and Wrap your arms around her!
Lord, close the mouths of the gossip and cast down the word curses of those who know no better!
Daddy, you have such Destiny for your Daughter! Bring it to pass Lord! Let her be a Sign and a Wonder for all to see! Mark her with Your Seal of Approval God!
Father, overturn this Downward Spiral! Protect her ears from the taunts and the sneers of the enemy! Elevate her above the detestable glares of the people - Lord, be the One whom her heart longs for!
Father, thank you... Amen.
