Early this summer, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign for president learned that the men’s magazine GQ was working on a story the campaign was sure to hate: an account of infighting in Hillaryland.

So Clinton’s aides pulled a page from the book of Hollywood publicists and offered GQ a stark choice: Kill the piece, or lose access to planned celebrity coverboy Bill Clinton.

Despite internal protests, GQ editor Jim Nelson met the Clinton campaign’s demands, which had been delivered by Bill Clinton’s spokesman, Jay Carson, several sources familiar with the conversations said.

Ahmadinejad Questions 9/11, Holocaust

NEW YORK (AP) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad defended Holocaust revisionists and raised questions about who carried out the Sept. 11[sm=hammerhead.gif] attacks in a tense showdown Monday at Columbia University, where the school's head introduced the hard-line leader by calling him a "petty and cruel dictator."

Ahmadinejad portrayed himself as an intellectual and argued that his administration respected reason and science. But the former engineering professor, appearing shaken and irate over he called "insults" from his host, soon found himself drawn into the type of rhetoric that has alienated American audiences in the past.

He provoked derisive laughter by responding to a question about Iran's execution of homosexuals by saying: "In Iran we don't have homosexuals like in your country ... I don't know who's told you that we have this."

Faced with a crisis over complaints about its treatment of Filipino nurses, Long Island nursing home group SentosaCare turned for help last year to a friendly politician it had supported in the past -- Sen. Charles Schumer.

The Democratic senator then wrote four letters over the course of two months to Philippine government officials, including President Gloria Macagapal-Arroyo. They asked the officials to meet with SentosaCare's executives or to "consider reviewing" the Woodmere company's case after the country suspended the company's affiliated recruitment operation. Macagapal-Arroyo's former chief of staff said the Schumer letters were unprecedented.

Shortly after two Schumer letters sent the same day, the Philippine government lifted the suspension. SentosaCare's Filipino recruitment pipeline was back in business. Over the next two months, a national campaign fund headed by Schumer received nearly $75,000 from investors, attorneys and vendors for SentosaCare-affiliated nursing homes.

Where were the statistics about the extreme cost of illegal immigrants as opposed to some small, in comparison, concocted benefit?

What about the cost of giving illegals and their offspring "free" medical and educational benefits? Then there are the high costs of crimes such as murder, rape, theft, drug sales/smuggling, drunk driving, driving without a license and uninsured accidents often associated with illegals. People who are here illegally have no respect for our rule of law. Why would we even think of giving them amnesty? In a sense, illegals have broken into our house, and we need to send them back where they came from.

A heroic 12-year-old son of two auxiliary cops died in a Brooklyn fire yesterday after calling 911 and rushing into the smoke to save his aunt and grandmother, officials and family said.

"He made the call from the second floor, went back upstairs and couldn't make it out," said his uncle Rio Michel, 52. "The stairwell was engulfed in flames."

As the president of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, prepares to address Columbia University today amid a storm of student protest, state and city lawmakers say they are considering withholding public funds from the school to protest its decision to invite the leader to campus.

In an interview with The New York Sun, the speaker of the Assembly, Sheldon Silver, said lawmakers, outraged over Columbia's insistence on allowing the Iranian president to speak at its World Leaders Forum, would consider reducing capital aid and other financial assistance to the school.

Lawmakers warned about other consequences for Columbia and its president, Lee Bollinger, who has resisted campus and public pressure to cancel Mr. Ahmadinejad's appearance today, arguing that Columbia's commitment to scholarship requires the school to directly confront offensive ideas.

A new propaganda video from the al Qaeda-linked Islamic State of Iraq (ISI) features small children with AK-47 assault rifles. The narrator of the video refers to these young boys as the "new generation" of mujahedeen.

In one scene, a small child who appears to be around seven- or eight-years-old is holding an AK-47 and reciting what he says are quotes from the prophet Mohammed. Then a group of small children are seen, each holding an AK-47.

In the video, the 13-year-old boy struggled to stay on his feet as several youths punched and pushed him from all sides. When he finally went down, the blows didn’t cease; he tried to protect his face and head with his hands. As he pleaded for them to stop, he was kicked in the face.

After the weekend beating in Ocean View, which lasted less than 40 seconds, the boy struggled to his feet, his face bloody.

The youth, Damin O’Rourke, who only recently moved to Norfolk’s West Ocean View from North Carolina, was left with bruises and scrapes. Police have identified several assailants – juveniles who they said could face misdemeanor assault charges.

The National Academy of Science reported in Dropping Out - Immigrant Entry and Native Exit from the Labor Market, 2000-2005 that from 1980 to 1995 there was a 44% of the decline in the real wages of high school dropouts as a result of immigration.

As Hillary Clinton rises in the polls, her nose grows longer and longer.

To be sure, she has never had any shame about making stories up out of thin air. After 9/11, Clinton appeared on national TV and claimed that when the two airplanes hit the World Trade Center, her daughter Chelsea was going to jog at Battery Park near the towers, where she heard and saw the catastrophe unfold.

Clinton’s arrogance was so profound that she did not coordinate the story with Chelsea, who wrote an article for Talk in which she described what she had been doing that day. According to Chelsea, she was on the other side of town in a friend’s apartment on Park Avenue South. She watched the events unfold on TV.

Sixteen Catholic senators recently voted against an amendment that would have restored the Mexico City Policy. The policy, instituted by President Reagan in 1984, prohibited U.S. taxpayer dollars from funding organizations that perform or promote abortions in foreign countries. Catholic activist Judie Brown, president of American Life League, says she was especially disappointed by the vote of a freshman Democrat from Pennsylvania who claims to be pro-life.

"Other than Robert Casey, who is an enormous disappointment to me, I think we could have expected the pro-abortion vote from the other 15 so-called Catholic senators," says Brown. "It's no surprise to me that those 15 individuals voted against life because they've been doing so consistently for a very long period of time."

In October 2006, Jim Gilchrist was just beginning his address at Columbia when an unruly group of protestors stormed the stage, forcing the school to abruptly cancel his speech. Gilchrist has hoped to return to Columbia, and says he was tentatively invited back for an October 4 appearance -- until some radical groups protested. "Two very, very radical anti-American groups decided to force the Columbia Political Union to hold an ad hoc meeting, I guess an emergency meeting, to revoke their university’s invitation for my presence to speak at the campus," he states.

He says while those radical groups had a problem with what he had to say about securing the borders, they did not appear to have the same problem with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. "[Here is] someone who promotes weapons of mass destruction, who promotes the literal annihilation and death to every Jew on the face of earth. So if you are comparing points of view, I am just a goody two-shoes compared to this other guy," explains Gilchrist.

'Jena 6' teen's case to be heard in juvenile court, governor says


BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (CNN) -- The case of Mychal Bell, a black teenager accused of beating a white classmate in Jena, Louisiana, will be heard in juvenile court, Louisiana's governor announced Wednesday.

Gov. Kathleen Blanco said that she discussed Bell's case with LaSalle Parish District Attorney Reed Walters on Wednesday, and that Walters agreed not to challenge a state appeals court ruling that dismissed Bell's battery and conspiracy convictions.

The court ruled that Bell, who was 16 at the time of the beating, should have been tried in juvenile court instead of having the case transferred to adult court.

FBI raids net illegal aliens with terror link

FBI raids have netted nine illegal Pakistani aliens and two naturalized U.S. citizens accused of money laundering -- one of whom is accused of financing terrorists.

The 11 men were arrested last Thursday in morning raids on Maryland's Eastern Shore. Local law enforcement also participated in the FBI raids. According to the Daily Times (Salisbury, MD), Princess Anne convenience store owner, Muhammad Ashraf, was arrested along with four other people from Wicomico County, and the rest were netted in raids in Worcester County.

The Daily Times also reports that some of the men had paid up to $500,000 in bribes to immigration officials in order to obtain illegal green cards for them

and some of their family members. Court documents reported that one cooperating witness posed as a terrorist wanting to send money to al-Qaida and had asked for help in transferring money overseas.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said he is not waiting for new Cave Creek laws to take effect before cracking down on the town's mostly undocumented immigrant day laborers.

Sheriff's deputies arrested nine people near a church sanctuary Thursday, just days after Arpaio heralded new town laws expected to trigger a crackdown on the workers when they take effect next month.

“We're not waiting for the 30 days for these ordinances to be implemented,” Arpaio said. “We have received a lot of calls about Cave Creek having drop houses and illegals in the area.”

"Newt is not running," spokesman Rick Tyler said. "It is legally impermissible for him to continue on as chairman of American Solutions (for Winning the Future) and to explore a campaign for president."

Gingrich decided "to continue on raising the challenges America faces and finding solutions to those challenges" as the group's chairman, Tyler said, "rather than pursuing the presidency."

NYTimes: Thomas Friedman Wants America to Get Over 9/11

Thomas Friedman thinks you are “stupid” if you still care about the atrocity committed against this country by Islamofascists in New York on 9/11/2001.

He thinks “9/11 is over” and we all should just move on. Even worse, he has decided that we are no longer a great country, but are filled with seemingly meaningless “fear,” that we have a dilapidated infrastructure, and that while America used to be “the gold standard,” he believes “We aren’t anymore.” Friedman is falling for the typical, leftist doom-and-gloom scenario and imagines that China is better than we are, Europe is more inviting, and we have become the new Rome after the fall. His closing line is “We can’t afford to keep being this stupid!” By contrast to Friedman, my opening line to him is “We can’t afford to be this self-loathing!”

Friedman starts his piece off comparing the current state of the U.S. to a satirical piece in the Onion, which is fitting because Frideman’s own piece might be mistaken for a satire on the frivolousness and unserious nature of the left today. Unfortunately, he is serious about his self-inflicted amnesia and seems utterly unconcerned about the threats we face as a nation and a people. Like most truthers he seems to imagine that it has all been hype, a conspiracy theory made up by eeeevil Republicans who merely want to fool enough people to stay in power.

Several weeks ago Julie Myers, the head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, testified on Capitol Hill that the cost of removing the illegal alien population, which she estimated to consist of 12 million people, would cost 94 billion dollars. She went into an analysis of detention expenses and other costs, but she but did not include the cost of finding these illegal aliens in the first place. Obviously, that cost which would greatly increase this estimate.



I’ll provide a different perspective. It is my belief that it would not be necessary to remove all of the illegal aliens but that once our nation showed real resolve in enforcing the immigration laws, many illegal aliens would simply leave the United State of their own accord and at their own expense. The additional positive impact of such enforcement efforts would be that more illegal aliens would be discouraged from violating our nation’s borders and immigration laws.



Last year some 45 billion dollars was wired back to Latin America and the Caribbean by illegal aliens. Even more money was smuggled out of our nation otherwise, as there are illegal aliens who come from other regions of the world and also send billions of dollars out of the United States. These exported dollars are utterly lost to our economy. If we are to consider the enormous cost of tracking down illegal aliens and saving the loss of these exported dollars, our nation would realize significant savings.

“I think Huckabee is very effective, and if Huckabee can find money, he will be dramatically competitive almost overnight,” Gingrich said. “He’s probably the best performer in terms of giving speeches and being appealing…”

Gingrich, who announced Saturday that he would not seek the presidency in 2008, heaped more praise on Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas.

Limbaugh, contending he was "smeared" with false charges, demanded Reid come on the top-rated radio program, confront him "like a man"[sm=mouse.gif] and "stop hiding behind the speech-and-debate clause and your Senate immunity."

"You want to come on this program and call me unpatriotic, come on this program and call me unpatriotic," Limbaugh said. "You want to call me a liar, you want to tell me that I did not say what I said, you come on this program and you tell me to my face that I said what I did not say."
