Well guys, I've gotta run and get some work done. It's not going to be easy, because it's still raining very nicely outside.

You could talk about Life Insurance and Annuities.

Okay, but how do you bring it up out of the blue in line at the grocery store?

How about this? "Say, you look a little sick. Have you thought about how your family would get by in the event of your unexpected death?" Oh, what's that you're not married?" Great! Me neither. "

OH, BL, that's hilarious!

I missed that post!!!!! BL = EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!

So, Michelle, how long does it take for you to get from the church to the Land O Lakes soccer complex?

Oh, there *might* be a game on the 17th, at 11am that you could get to after church that's at the complex. I kind of know a few of the boys on the team. Oh, and remember my embarrassing kissing story? Well, the son of that man is also on the team!

Well the person in front of me at the market today was a lady. lol

I know that you are supposed to talk to the opposite sex but for me, it would serve me better to just talk to whoever. lol But I think I will establish my role here as the troublemaker.

I think that we can learn to exercise our social muscle by just talking to whomever we meet. But I think I'm going to look for as many guys as I can.

Uh oh. Trishy's bored. She's gonna stir up trouble!

I don't think this fulfills the challenge, let's call it a trial run, but I did have a chat the the lady at the barber shop that cut my hair tonight. Besides the required talk about how I wanted my hair cut, we did talk about sports, but then again that is almost required conversation in a barber shop.

Hi Everyone!

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!! Here are the details . . .

So, I'd just gotten off from work, and I went to Rite-Aid (drug store) to pick up some manicure supplies and hair conditioner (I know that's not relavant but . . .), so anywhoo, I'm standing in line, and there is an older gentleman in front of me. And somehow we just started talking about how long the line was.

"Oh, my Gosh, look at that line!" I sigh.
"I turned my back and it got teen feet long." he says with a laugh.
I laught too.
"I should have gotten in line before it got so long."
"We'll be standing here forever."
We continue to joke about the length of the line. It was a really pleasant conversation. While we're chatting I notice a few people glancing over with understanding. A cute guy looks over too (and He looks really interested). I keep my focus and continue to chat with the older gentleman.

It was really pleasant. I noticed while we were talking that other people seemed to take interest in our conversation and it seemed like it opened up the world just a little bit more. It seemed to even encourage others to participate. It was fun! Yay! I really encourage the shy guys and gals to chat someone up in a line--and yes GnM you can chat them up in any store. I know it can be hard, but the point of this is to force yourself to do it. Y'never know what might come of it.

Hmmmmm. So, since I'm the only one who's actually accomplished the mission . . . I guess I can present another mission . . .

YOUR MISSION should you choose to accept:

In the course of your day, give a stranger (someone you do not already know) of the opposite sex a compliment. Eye contact and smiling is optional, but highly recommended .

Oh no.... that is so out of my comfort zone though.. and is it ok if the stranger is of a different age group than I am.. that would be safer.. than say a member of the opposite sex who is my age... hmmm... now does this stranger have to be someone who I rarely see(ie. one time thing) or could it be someone I meet at work since I work for a larger company...

Enoch, you can talk to anyone of any age of the opposite sex. It doesn't have to be a young attractive young lady who might look up into your eyes with pretty lashes and say, "HI" with a big smile. She might think you're cute! But, chat with anyone. If you're a shy try chatting up a female that looks a little more extroverted.

Don't forget to tell us what happens!

I just sitting in the library today when someone of the opposite gender asked me a question about USB connections on the library computer... puzzled I said I didn't have a clue.. soon after she figured it out and I told her how smart she was that she got it figured out(I don't remember the exact words).. but she smiled and so did I..

I've been told that I'm not shy by people but my heart tends to beat a minute or two faster when a girl I really like is around... I'm sure that is the same with most of us guys..

Yea, good job for the follow-through. It's ok to not "get it" when she first approaches you as long. Just try to catch her again later.

Oh, and most of us don't have hearts that come with flutter-control - someone attractive walks by and wow. The heart just starts beating and we lose all concentration.

Did that Thursday night at the karaoke place (several times in fact. I let one girl know she was stunning (but als way way too young) and another know she sang beautifully).

But the one that was best happend at O'hare on Friday. This very cute girl (als too young again) was looking at the arrivals/departures board so I walked over and said "I just wanted to tell you that you are a very pretty lady"

She smiled and blushed a little and said thank you. Just by her smile and manner I could tell that I made her day.

Apparently even very good looking women seldom get compliments these days. How sad.

It's because everyone thinks we hear it all the time, which, trust me, we do not!

That was so nice, John. I agree that everyone needs to hear that once in a while, not just the pretty ones.

Mission accomplished! It happened very suddenly for me, I saw this very slim asian guy with the most beautiful hair and I complimented him on it. His hair was fairly long, about shoulder length, and it was brilliantly shiney, and he carried it off in such a way as to look handsome and puckish.

"My goodness, your hair is beautiful" I said, maybe beautiful wasn't the exact word I should have used, But when I like things I mostly say they are beautiful. So, back to what happened. He paused for a great moment, and we just sort of looked at each other. Then he blushed and laughed sheepishly, looking down at his shoes for a moment. I giggled and smiled and he said, "Thanks." It was all very cute. In fact, after I'd noticed his hair, I noticed he had flawless skin, and that his personality was written on his face. It's amazing what you can notice about someone if you take the time to actually look at someone with the mind to appreciate them.

Saraimay, I know you can do this!

And John, I think you may have the gift of flattery . . . didn't Paul talk about that in one of the epistles?

Enoch, I really liked your comment because you complimented her on her intelligence and not just a physical feature. So often we women are trained to focus our efforts on outer beauty that it can be distracting. And often it can seem that men only notice our beauty. Kudos to you for complimenting a girl on her smarts! Not only was your compliment flattering it was encouraging! If I could give you 5 Stars I would! Well done, my good man! We await you and John_O's mission . . . please be kind to us. Nothing too hard just yet.

Mission: Offer to buy a co-worker a cup of coffee (or beverage), or better yet just bring them one. This cannot be a co-worker that you routinely buy coffee, socialize with outside of work (unless you only have one or two co-workers). Extra points for those who will buy the boss a cup of joe!

I don't get out enough to do any of these! LOLOL

But, I might be able to do something with the coffee - but am not sure about that.

Mission #1: Went to the grocery store a lot over the past few days. Alas, all the people in line ahead of me were female. Every time.

There was a guy ahead of me at the video store ...however ...he had his kid with him and seemed a bit ill tempered ... but would have chatted with him had he not jumped ahead and checked out.

Mission #2: INCREDIBLY out of my comfort zone! However, does it have to be on their personal appearance? I've heard that guys respond better when we compliment them on what they do anyway.

Mission #3: Well, I'm off work tomorrow. Tonight it's just me and the boss, who isn't a big coffee drinker. Oh, and the guys in sports, who could probably use something stronger than coffee right now, based on how the Tribe is doing at the moment. All in all, there aren't many of us when on night shift. And on day shift, the faces are the same too. Can we still do it even if I am THEIR boss? Oh, and does it have to be a male co-worker?

Encouragement actually. I've always considered "flattery" to have a hint of insincerity about it. I try hard to never say anything unless I am 100% honest about it. (I'd rather be silent than insincere, although I do fall sometimes and speak before I should)

Totally impossible. I do not work with any women who are attractive to me in the least. I refuse to give the wrong impression by buying a gift (even something as small as coffee) for someone I'm not attracted to. Buying donuts for the whole office though is something I've done before.
