THis is the thread for anything and everything to do with books. Let's start with favourites:
I love classical literature! Especially Russian. I mean, Dostkevsky, Tolstoy, Chekov, etc.
But my favorite book by far is the Bible!

Zach, my hero!!! Laziness is no match for us bookworms!!  I haven't read many Russian classics, though I've been meaning to read War and Peace.(I've read The Cherry Orchard though, I believe it's by Chekov) Someone on the facebook thread asked if I've ever read Jane Eyre. YES, YES, I have, many times!!! It's my all-time favourite book, aside from the Bible of course, and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes classical literature. Right now I'm reading Shirley, by the same author. It is turning into another favourite already!! Louisa May Alcott is great, I've read most of her's, I think, including the lesser-known ones. A Long Fatal Love Chase was really cool. My favourite book by Jane Austen was The Watsons. This is one of her lesser known books, mostly because she started but never finished it, so someone else finished it for her. But I liked that one, it was so beautiful!!! Ahhh, there are so many books I love, but there is so little time to name them!
Okay, this isn't about books, but it's about literature, so I thought it would be ok to mention. Does anyone here like Emily Dickinson's works? I think her work is soooooo good!

Jane Eyre is really quite good. Yes, the Cherry Orchard is by Chekov, I haven't read that play though, I've read tons of lesser known stuff by him though.
I do not like Emily Dickinson. I've read some of her poems and they just do not appeal to me for whatever reason. Anyone like Sir Waltar Scott?

Awwe, darn, I was hoping I'd find someone to talk about Emily Dickinson's works with... oh well! I've never read anything by Sir Walter Scott, I wonder how he slipped by without me reading any of his works...  I will find one of his to read when I finish the book I'm on now, any suggestions? Ooooh, if you really like classical literature, you should check out this site. It's online-literature.com, and it's got pretty much all the famous classic authors, and all their works, and you can read it all for free!!! I use it to preveiw books I wanna read, and if they grab my attention, I'll get them at the library. I've read a few whole books on there, but it's not very convenient, and a little hard on the eyes!!

i really want to read jane eyre, i've thought it sounded good for a long time, and i am hoping to read it soon.
currently i'm reading wuthering heights...i've only read the first 5 chapters or so, but i am hooked. i love it so far. has anyone else read it?
i dont read much poetry, it never sounded that interesting to me. if i wanted to read some, what should i try first?

books i've read-
the hobbit(I love the way tolkien writes)
lord of the rings triligy(my favorite series)
the simarilian(excellent)
The mark of the lion series(one of my fave love stories)
the last sin eater(awesome book)
the valley of the gods series(one of the first series i read that was christian yet kinda fantasy)
rapturing cannon(the dumbest book i've ever read in my life)
daughter of the forest(this one was good but had some stuff in it that they could have left out)
son of the shadows(same as the above)
children of prophecy(same)
the scarlet thread(eh pretty good i guess)
leota's garden(same)
the chronicles of narnia(they were excellent)
i might think of some more later cause i've read much more than that
i'm wanting to start on eragon
my fave is the bible, without it my spirit would die

Ohhh, Tolkien, I forgot about him!!! His books are awesome. *sigh* I think I've read the mark of the lion series, who wrote them again?
Lacey, if you're looking for a good piece of poetry to start off with, I'd suggest 'The Lady of Shalott'. Here is a place where you can read it online: http://www.online-literature.com/tennyson/720/ This was one of the first poems I read, and the first that I had liked. After reading it, I was hooked!

Hmmm, I've never read that one! I haven't read many of C.S. Lewis' books besides the narnia series. I tried reading one when I was much younger, and since I was so young, I found it dreadfully boring, and I've yet to re-try it!

I need to read Mere Christianity. I've heard wonderful things about it, i just haven't got around to it.
I love Jane Austin's Pride and Prejudice. That's like my favorite book ever. Other than the Bible, that is.
And I love anything Tolkien. Good stuff right there.

The ultimate free book site is prjoect gutenberg. It has almost every classic and almost everything else.
I am starting to read the Cost of Discipleship by Bonhoefer. The first chapter is amazing, it's all about cheap and costly grace and the difference. Wow.

it was written by francine rivers. she also wrote this amazing book called Redeeming Love. it's based on the story of Hosea and Gomer. reeding love was probably the best book i have read. it teaches alot about God's love. it was a life changing book, really it was. i highley recommend it to all of you guys.

Ohh, yes, Francine Rivers. I've read that series then. Yes, the Lady of Shalott was the poem in Anne of Green Gables. That scene was so cool!!! Anne has been one of my heros ever since I was a little girl. She's Canadian, woot!

i read about half of the first book of anne of green gables when i was quite a bit younger, but i got bored and stopped. i should borrow it from my sister again and read it all the way through.
i've always wanted to visit prince edward island since i saw the movie!

I must be weird then. Movies inspire me to get all the details from the book itself.
My sisters, my mom, and I all squeal like crazy at the end when he's like "Mrs. Darcy... *kiss*... Mrs. Darcy..."
*squeals* I love Mr Darcy. Wasn't his first name Fitzgerald? I'd be going by my last name too if that's what it was. Hahaha!
