I was just thinking about my days nursing Hunter and was wondering if your children had a habit they did while they nursed. Hunter's "habit" was he always played with my necklace, it never failed. The middle of the night nursing though he would rub his hand across my upper chest and fall asleep. Those are such sweet moments I will always treasure.

Aww I love those moments. Timmy very kept still when I nursed/bottle fed/fed him food. I guess he didn't want to interfere or something. LOL.
Jimmy used to interlace his fingers with mine, but now he just likes to hold my finger.
I'll be kinda sad when I try to wean him next month.

I've heard great things about Bravado but I couldn't wear them do to size issues. Glad to see you are ok. Is Jadon sleeping or feeding better?

Nursing bras - I just love my www.glamourmom.com nursing tanks. They are supportive enough to wear during the day but comfy enough to sleep in and I LOVE that they keep your tummy covered while you BF. I can't stand the thought that my tummy might be peeking out even if people can't see it.

Yes, yes and yes!!!! I LOVE my Glamourmom tops. I have three and I live in them! They are awesome! Expensive (at least to cheapskate me) but MORE than worth the cost! I'm going to post this in the nursing bra topic also!

Janine, I personally like the Gillian O'Malley or something from Target. They have underwire and all around support when you unsnap it and bring the fold down. They are pretty comfy and cute too. They come in pink, nude and black. HERE is the pink one. I bought the nude one with Timmy and wore for a loooong time. When I got pregnant with Jimmy I bought the pink one and black one. The underwire broke on the pink one because I forgot to leave it out of the dryer, but the other ones still are in good shape.

So I have a question for all those who have been there done that when it comes to nursing. Though I am no longer nursing I do have a question about next time. When Hunter was a newborn I woke him up during the night to make sure he never went longer than 4 hours without nursing. I do not remember when I stopped doing this (I know by atleast 2 months I had stopped) and just allowed him to wake up when he was hungry. My question is are you suppose to wake them up in the early weeks at night or do you let them sleep until they wake up on their own? I remember being so worried that if he didn't nurse my supply would plummet so I would wake him. Just would like to know what other mommas did.

I don't know Chelle. We had to wake Gabby to feed her every 3 hours around the clock because of her FTT. I would think that you just go with whatever the baby wants because your supply will match them.

When your milk comes in you won't have to worry about setting an alarm clock to get up! Ouch!  (At least not till everything settles down)

Chelle, I don't think you have to do that for every baby. The ped told me to do that for Timmy because he was a little jaundiced. He didn't need a billie blanket or anything just lots of nursing and sunlight. But, I asked Jimmy's ped. about that, and he said I didn't have to because he was average size, on-time and not jaundiced. I never had severe engorgement, so I nver woke up before the baby either. I had to set a timer for Timmy, and just let Jimmy wake me up.

my first two children liked to play with my braid.....as they got older....if they couldn't reach it (if it was hanging down in back)...they would reach around and hold it. It was actually my oldest child's "security blanket" for a while...she couldn't go to sleep unless she had a hold of it...we thought I'd have to cut it off and give it to her (lol)....but she outgrew that.
My third like to place her hand over my heart...to feel it beating I guess.....
My fourth...you had to hold his hand. He had to wrap his fingers around your thumb..he did this from the day he was born.
my fifth....she was a struggle since she was in a brace at first..but she liked after the first three months to reach up and put her hand on my cheek....she still does that!

as for waking up the baby every 4 hours....as someone else said...it depends on the baby really.
Mine wake up for the most part on their own...but really waking them up every 4 hours is really only for the first 2 to 4 weeks until their metabolisms etc kick it.
My babies all suffer from low blood sugar after they are born because I am gestationally diabetic....so they NEED to be fed at least every 4 hours until they learn that they do not need to pump so much insulin into their system.....

Mary is a really good baby. She sleeps well at night, and is a really good nurser. In the afternoon though she is on and off the breast for a couple hours just for comfort. My biggest struggle right now is getting her to burp. Sometimes she struggles so hard to pass wind/gas her poor lil face turns red. The only time I've been able to get a burp out is when she is swaddled and I put her over my shoulder and pat her back. But this is like an hour after she eats.
(I know there has been a previous discussion on burping, but I'm not sure where. Sorry for the repeat.)[color]
