I love the playtex nursers. I don't use the drop-in liners with them though, I use the traditional liners. They are 1/2 the price of the drop-ins. I love them because they heat up so quickly.
I like the playtex nipples, they are similar to the Avent nipples that we used to use.
I don't really know much else about bottles, I just switched to the playtex bottles when I returned my Avent bottles.

Yes, actually, it's the only place I have found to buy them. You don't need very many, probably only 3-4 to start with. Oh, and I wouldn't bother buying small ones, just buy the regular 9-11oz ones.
Yolanda, we can only buy the drop-in's here, I can't find the original liners ANYWHERE.

I can usually find them, but they seem to "hide" them. Always on the very bottom shelf, off to the side. They are in a tiny little box too. But I've been able to get them at the pharmacy and at the grocery store. Maybe they're discontinued and I should stock up?

Maybe it's because your in Canada? We had a long a chat about it on my other forum and no one has been able to find them here, the drop-ins are already on the bottom shelf in an obscure location, lol.

I'm in Canada -- it's up to each store what they order. None of our local stores (including the pharmacies) carry the regular liners ... they only have the drop-ins ... which is why we don't use the Playtex bottles (I found that when we used the drop-ins, they wouldn't fit quite right in the bottles, and would end up leaking all over the place if it was even slightly squeezed)

I was at Walmart yesterday and they had a ton of the regular liners, up on the big shelf, right next to the drop-ins. So strange!
They don't advertise them on their website though!

I went to Wal-mart yesterday and the baby section was such a mess!! They didn't have any playtex nursers or liners. I looked for the Nuby bottles at BRU and Target and couldn't find any.

OH, that annoys me when the big stores are a mess.
Our Old Navy used to be like that, they used to have piles of clothes on the floor, I stopped going there because of that.
Emily, could you order the Nuby bottles on BRU website or Amazon? Or did you want to look at them in person first?

At 6 1/2 months, should Levi be getting a certain amount of formula, or just whatever he wants? What I'm wondering is if he reaches a certain amount of formula in a day, should I be giving him more solids?
The main reason I ask is because I have a book called "Super Baby Food". In there, she says after 6 months, if a baby wants more than 32-40 oz of formula a day, he should get more water and/or solids instead. (32-40 is exactly what Levi eats...yesterday it was 36 oz.)

I would. Our Pediatrician said when they are reaching 32oz of formula then they need to be eating more solids and having more water.

ok....ty. Currently he gets about a tablespoon of baby food 3 times a day, plus a couple of crackers to munch on while we eat. I give him a few sips of water after each time he eats baby food. I think I will try to start more of both those things.

I've never known what the breakdown was before.
I always went by how much curiosity the child expressed in solid foods.

David eats about 24-26 oz a day. The midwife is coming Monday so I will find out how much he weighs then, but I am guessing he is around 10 pounds. Right now I can only pump around 21 oz a day. I am almost out of the extra I have frozen. I have a can of formula but I feel bad giving it to him. I'm scared he won't like my milk anymore. (it's an irrational fear, I know.) I give him 2 oz at a time and then sometimes he eats another oz. Should I mix an oz of formula with an oz of breast milk, or give him a full formula bottle a couple times a day? What effect is the 3-5 oz of formula going to have on his poop?

me too....but then again we BF. I am not sure what the difference is.....anyone have a clue why it's not good with formula but fine with BF babies for them to go over a year without solid food (or over the 32oz mark...cause I know BF babies that do that too)?
Because your milk changes to what they need, formula doesn't and from my understanding they can to much of some of the electrolytes and stuff. I think that is why they make 9 months+ formula...

DO NOT water down the formula unless told to do so by your Pediatrician. Formula doesn't always constipate babies and I doubt that 3-5oz will do so... You can mix them together if you want, but I don't think it will make much difference. Babies tend to switch back and forth pretty easily, IME.

Because for a bf baby, the flow slows down and does run "dry" at some point, even if they are still sucking. With a bottle fed baby, they may have a 9 oz bottle every time and are more likely to keep drinking even if they are no longer hungry, but just want to suck. And the flow with a bottle is the same the whole time, so it just needs more watching than a bf baby. One way to do this is to give the same number of bottles, but make them smaller...6 or 7 oz instead of 8 or 9.

I agree with Ryanne - don't water it down unless your doc says to do so.
I didn't mix breast milk with formula when I started, because I was only able to pump 1-2oz at a time. My ds (and later my dd) switched between a breast feed and a formula feed with no trouble at all.
