Be gracious to me, O Lord; see my affliction from those who hate me, You who lift me up from the gates of death, that I may tell of all Your praises, that in the gates of the daughter of Zion I may rejoice in Your salvation.

Psalm 9:13-14

This verse came up in a study prompted by thinking how difficult it can be in this world. Those who do not have Jesus in their hearts ... how they despite the light we shine.

Let's keep shining the light in our hearts

I am working on a project re: forgiveness. Here's something I just ran across:

Forgiveness has been defined as the willful giving up of resentment in the face of another's (or others') considerable injustive and responding with beneficence to the offender even though that offender has no right to the forgiver's moral goodness. Forgiveness is an act freely chosen by the forgiver. Forgiveness is not the same as condoning, excusing, reconciling, or forgetting. In other words, forgiveness, properly understood, occurs from a position of STRENGTH not weakness, because the forgiver recognizes an injustice and labels it for what it is.

Matthew 18:21-22
Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?" Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times".

Resentments can eat away at our hearts and keep us away from God. Let's learn to forgive and release those resentments.
