Well, I didn't dribble all over myself anyway....

And I did some manly things too! I cleanded up the kitchen after dinner, and OH! OH! I went to the big box hardware store today and got a drier vent that'll go through the wall to the outside!

Yesterday i didn't mow the lawn, but I went over the leaves to mulch them up and then I got a brake caliper for the car my son drives and we put that in. Had to get the brakes working to pass the annual inspection.

How's your ears hanging Denny?

We had to run the A/C the past couple of days, but no, I'm not mowing the lawn as much as I am mulching the leaves.

I never mow our lawn. That's what those guys with the trailers who you pay are for.

Well, I'm done doing that for the year but I have been cleaning out gutters and blowing leaves from here to there.

Happy Monday, everyone!,

I mowed our lawn once, and the neighborhood men teased poor hubby relentlessly, so I never had to do it again! Now we live in a community that does all the landscaping, wow is that a treat.

The only snow we will see is the fake stuff the town square blows out for the kiddoes each evening!!!

Hi Sarah and everyone!

If I had a lawn to mow, I wouldn't mow it. That's why I got married and started having kids....so everyone else but me can do things like that! I run the inside of the house, someone else can take care of the outside.

I'm not married, but I live with a couple where the husband is very particular about things. I've offered on several occasions to mow the lawn, but he won't let me.

we had a huge ice storm pour through this weekend....so ice is hanging everywhere. Later on I may venture out of the warm house and take some pics of the trees in our yard...it's pretty cool looking.

we were going to go to a museum candle light walk last night, but it was miserably cold and drizzly rain and just about freezing temps. Snow would have been better...we can handle the snow....actually like it, but the rain was too much. So instead we made sugar cookies and let the kiddos decorate them. BOY that sure was a mess!!!!

Trish...really??! That's sad.

Sarah, I bet it was a mess. You're a braver woman than I am. Did you let them do the icing and all themselves?

We just finished running around all over town. Noah's x-ray, picked up some more wrap stuff for Brian's toe, picked up Noah's book-it pizza, got lunch for Hannah and I off the McD's dollar menu. I have so much to do in this house, but I'm having a hard time motivating to do it. The kids were not super cooperative in our travels this morning.

we didn't do icing...that would have been less messy!!! Instead we made colored sugar...yay for sugar!!! The easiest way to do icing and it not be too big of a mess is to get those snack size zippie baggies...then clip a small corner of it. Then can't make too big of a mess when they have to squeeze it out!!

I am doing laundry. that's my only goal today. It's been backed up for months and I couldn't get it caught up...so today I am focusing on that. I think I have about three loads left to wash and dry...plus the two in the washer and dryer. Then sometime tonight or tomorrow I have to go through the kids clothes that will be nice and clean and get things out that they don't need out right now because of weather or that don't fit them anymore. I am trying to get back into the swing of things around here...been a few months since I was able to actually manage things around here and everything seems to be falling to pieces now.

It looks like we will be stuck here for Christmas too...our cat is pregnant again and probably going to have kittens before then, which means we can't travel with her. I told Paul he gets to tell my mom...she was so looking forward to us coming for Christmas since we missed Thanksgiving. Plus we don't know if he will get that back-pay money that the army owes him yet. Without that it's clear that we can't go...we can barely pay the bills with them still taking out the money every month that they shouldn't be taking out (which is what the back pay is from...goes all the way back to June).

Sarah, unfortunately I didn't use a zip bag when my kids tried to make a gingerbread house on Saturday, just a regular one. And yes, they did start to make a mess by squeezing it wrong and it coming out the top and all over their hands!! (and they're 12 and 13!) They were fine once I showed them how, only the frosting didn't work like glue as it was supposed to. We finally gave up trying to build it and they just decorated the pieces.

LOL!!!! Sounds like my kind of diet!!!!

I ended up doing no baking this weekend. I was too busy Sat and I woke up sick yesterday. I'll try and do at least 1 batch a night this week so they're ready to give out on the weekend.

I'm glad that someone else has mommy brain and forgets that the kids have just had cookies. At least they are eating and happy, right?

My little one came down with chickenpox on Th. evening. She is 3.5 and we "delayed" the shot, hoping that she would actually get it. Anyway, dr says don't take her anywhere; when I was at church on Sun (dh stayed home with her), the moms were really excited and talking about having a "chickenpox party." DD1 thought it was strange that the moms were wanting the kids to get sick. I had to explain it to her, but I'm sure that she just thinks moms are pretty weird, now. The only down side is that the kids who would get it from her would have it around Christmas...

She isn't too uncomfortable or itchy, and is playing pretty normally. We'll see if we have a party...

Alright, I'm wondering myself.....you WANT 'em to have chickenpox? My eldest got majorly sick when she had it, had blisters on her eyelids, the palms of her hands and inside her mouth on her gums, ran a nasty fever. I can't imagine wanting another kid to have that.

Neither of our children have had any of the childhoos illnesses. The one I did hope J and X might run across was rubella.

When I was pregnant with J I had to leave dh to his own devices and live with my mother for two weeks because he came down with rubella. I would hate my son or daughter to go through that stress during a pregnancy.

Wow...

Letting kids have cookie dough and frosting on top of wishing the childhood illnesses on them.

For once, and only this once, I am speechless....

Until tomorrow anyway.

Chickenpox can be dangerous during pregnancy, too--if someone is not immune to it.

I had it pretty bad when I was 11, but my kids who have had it had mild cases of it. They also have been preschool age. As you get older, it seems to get worse. Most of the cases are mild. The moms that I was talking to had preschool children, so the kids are pretty young.

A history of it will give lifetime immunity while a vaccination might or might not -- they don't really know right now how long it lasts.
