We re-watched this episode Sat. night because half the family didn't see it on Thursday.
This is at least the second time they've had a song from The Mama's and the Papas on (on Michael's car radio and when we first saw Desmond in the hatch but hadn't met him yet.) There may have been other times, I can't remember. Do you think there is any significance to that? The first time in the hatch, I thought it had to do with when the hatch was built and how dated things were there. But Michael's scene in the car would have been the same year as the crash, 2004. The songs were different -- "Make your own kind of music" in the hatch and "It's gettin' better" in the car. I thought the music in the car was ironic since Michael's life was at its worse, and that may be the only point of having that song on. But with the pregnacy problems on the isalnd part of me wondered is having The Mamas and Papas sing may have some importance.
There was yet another scene opening with a close-up of someone's eye. a frequent tactic on this show.
When the alarm sounded at the beginning on the boat, my son said, "Enter the numbers!!" I laughed -- it did sound just like the alarm the hatch used to make when the time to enter the numbers ran down.

Sometimes it establishes the year the flashback was taking place. Mostly it's writer's games when they are playing with our heads, IMHO.

I had forgotten about him, but I wondered about him when we saw him. He didn't look familiar to me, but I am figuring he has some significance some how.

Who was the guy that walked past Sun's hospital room? I thought I saw him earlier in the episode, maybe stealing the Panda? Have we seen him before?

Anyone watching the enhanced episodes? We are, even though we've seen them.
Lasy night's was the episode with the backstory of the four people from the freighter who came to the island. When it showed Micheal Farady, sitting in a chair watching the TV coverage and crying, the line at the bottom said the woman was his caretaker. Then later when Naomi is learning who her crew will be, I think she calls him a nut case or a mental case. The episodes that came after this one that showed his experimentation with time travel and his note that Desmond is his constant make me wonder if he has been experiemnting with time travel -- and suffering the effects of it. But it must be different than what Desmond and Minkowski experienced, because their side effects came on much more rapidly. Or maybe since he knows his "constant" it keeps him grounded.
I really like the actor who plays Farady and how he plays him -- I didn't at first but I do now.

Okay, here's something I've been pondering since watching the enhanced version of the episode where Hurley is back in the asylum: The caption when Charlie appeared to Hurley said it was an "apparition" of Charlie. I had assumed when I watched the episode before that Hurley was the only one who could see Charlie, but when I saw it the second time, I realized that a man who was also in the asylum pointed out to Hurley that Charlie was standing there watching him. If Charlie is an apparition, why was the other man able to see him?
