Loved the scene with Hurley sharing his candy bar with Ben. Just seemed like a normal, human moment.

Agreed. A nice, quiet scene by two very good actors.

I was even struck and amused by the difference in the way Hurley and Ben ate their candy bar: Hurley just jammed the whole thing in his mouth and sat there chewing, while Ben carefully considered his share of the candy, peeled back the wrapper and took a small bite. I thought this was such a reflection of their personalities.

Great episode all the way around!

Do you think Claire died in her sleep from the blast ?

She looked odd. Had a goofy grin.

So next week Hurley ends up in the 6 who make it off the island. Some on Sayid's boat & some on the helicopter ?

Wonder what would happen if the "I hear dead people" guy ends up near that mass grave ?

SO Locke will owe the orderly ? The orderly that also visited Hurley.

The orderly, AKA Oceanic rep who visited Hurley, is Matthew Abaddon. Another mysterious "Lost" character!

Remember he was also the one recruiting Naomi, which would seem to indicate he really doesn't work for Oceanic but for Widmore. But then again, he was "setting up" Locke to go to the Island which makes it seem as if he is working for Jacob. Mysterious indeed!

I was wrong abouKate and t Aaron. I thot they would say that Aaron is Claire's baby, and that Claire died at some point after giving birth. But no, they are saying Aaron is Kate's birth child! Hmm, how are they going to pull that off? Someone brought up about her being 6 months preg at the time she was apprehended, and they were cut off, b/c "her legal issues are not on the table" Hmm, but what about the fact that there has to be someone out there who knows for sure that Kate was not preg, at least not that far along! And Sun is saying that Jin died in the crash? I thot for sure she would have to say he was one of the other 2 that suvived, then died. He would have to live long enough to get her preg, wouldn't he? She is only 8 wks along at the time of the helicopter landing, and they've been there longer that that, so Sun, you got some 'splaining to do! At first I thot, "Good for you Sun, to buy a controlling interest in your dad's company", so she can clean up the company, but I suppose it could o the other way, with her getting invovled in the illegl activities, and wrong employee relations, and so the company could crrupt her. At least the plot was moved along with this epi.

More unanswered questions!! [sm=hammerhead.gif] Spoilers hidden.

Who did Ben signal to? Why did he give himself up to Keemy?

Are Richard and the Others going to help Ben? Why does Richard wear so much eyeliner?

What were the circumstances that led Jack and the rest of the O-6 to come up with a common "story" so far from the truth? Was it to lend credence to the hoax perpetuated by Widmore?

Does Jin die, and if so, where?

Who did Ben signal to?
He signalled the others at the temple. That is why they "showed up" to the detriment (possibly) of Sayed and Kate.

quote:

Why did he give himself up to Keemy?
To cause the necessary diversion so John can go "move the island"

quote:

Are Richard and the Others going to help Ben?
I would assume so. They are armed to the teeth and ready for war.

quote:

Why does Richard wear so much eyeliner?
Because he is eeeeviiil.

My question is, where did all of the C-4 on the boat come from? It didn't come from Michael, and it seems unlikely Benjamin could have arranged it, and it makes no sense if the mercenaries planted it unless they have an alternate form of transportation once they kill everyone.

If, as the Oceanic spokesperson (played by the great Michelle Forbes, I loved her as Admiral Cain) stated, the O-6 were on the island for a total of 108 days, how many more days do they have left?

I'm betting psycho mercenary dude did it to keep them from moving the ship while he was doing his thing on the island. If they move the ship, then the chopper can't to find it.

Or Ben has more than one spy on the boat; which wouldn't surprise me because "I always have a plan, John."

Or it's a South Pacific cell of Al Qaeda.

Or it's really Playdough.

Or the whole thing is a dream so what does it matter

2jsmom -> RE: Lost Season 4 (5/16/2008 10:47:12 AM)

Just a thought. Since the island seems to be in it's own time warp, could moving the island be moving it in time instead of moving it from place to place?

Another thought, the only reason I can think of for the made up stories is to protect those still on the island. I think there will be some who survive but stay on the island for some reason.

both excellent points! I was thinking about the c-4 explosive on the boat - maybe the detonator is related to the device attached to Keemy's forearm, that we saw one of the other soldiers adjusting. This could be related to the radio signal that is preventing the first mate from moving the boat any closer to the island. Part of Keemy's plan to make sure the boat didn't leave without him and his team?

That would make sense.

That's true. I forgot that this might relate to the navigational issue the pilot had when Sayed was going to have him sail to the island after Michael fixed the engines. I didn't make a connection between the two but it may be that the C-4 is boobytrapped to go off if the boat moves. Good one.

Or.....since, yes, Ben always has a plan, remember when Michael tried to blow up the ship but Ben told him "not yet" over the radio? Maybe Ben did find a way or a person to put all of that on board so when Michael set off his little explosion it would trigger a big explosion. Didn't Ben also say something like "it turns out there are innocent people on the boat"?

Wayfaring_Stranger -> RE: Lost Season 4 (5/16/2008 11:10:43 AM)

108 days -- that's the sum of "the numbers" plus the time interval between having to punch them in at the old hatch.

Several of the flash forwards have alluded to the fact that some are still on the island and somehow need protecting -- from what (maybe Widmore's discovery?) we don't know yet.

I am glad Jack does discover that Claire was his sister -- just sorry that it's too late.

I think they said Kate was Aaron's mother because otherwise social services would take him. Plus they may have thought he would be leverage against her going to jail.

I hadn't thought about Sun getting corrupted by being in her father's company. Hope that doesn't happen!! But she's already developing a toughness.

Remember too that time does wierd things on the island. 108 days out in the "real world" seems rather irrelevant to time on the island.

I wonder if the time differences have anything to do with the pregnancy problem on the island. I wonder if they will ever resolve that story thread.

furrypurrykitty -> RE: Lost Season 4 (5/16/2008 10:43:05 PM)

My two fav quotes from this epi, both from Ben:

In answer to the question of how they're going to move the island: "Very carefully."

And: "I told you, John: I always have a plan."

My question is, if Jack knows Aaron is his nephew, why hasn't he told Kate? Remember when she said Jack wasn't even related to Aaron?

I figured Richard wears all that eyeliner because he's a fanboy of either Prince or Michael Jackson, but that's just my theory... [;)]

From the way I took it when he said that to her about Aaron I thought it was more of a taunt.

Yes, and it's a shame he couldn't tell Claire's mom that was her grandson.

One of my favorite parts in this episode was when Sawyer called Miles "Genghis." Sawyer -- always coming up with some new zinger, no matter how tense the situation![:D]

It was Jack who told Kate that she was not even related to Aaron, not the other way around.

momof4 -> RE: Lost Season 4 (5/17/2008 9:11:57 AM)

Yes, and I was just waiting for Jack to add, "But I'm his uncle!", but they got interrupted by Aaron getting up from bed. They should know not to argue so loudly right outside his door.

Abbreviated -> RE: Lost Season 4 (5/17/2008 2:06:43 PM)

Hurley's birthday party with an island theme ???

Wasn't that the car Hurley drove into the fruit stand ?

We don't know what happens to Desmond or Michael.

Hope Sun's decision to buy controlling stocks in her dad's co doesn't come back to bite her.

Is Locke suppose to figure out how to move the island ? Ben didn't finish his directions.

Guessing Kate & Sayid save Hurley.

So the 2 hour season finale is next week then are there 2 more seasons ?

Missed the first 30 minutes so watched the epi online yesterday. It didn't show previews though.

Yes, and I laughed out loud when he asked Jack and Frank if they wanted him to get them a cold lemonade while he was in the back of the copter, and when he asked Jack, "Cut yourself shaving?" when he noticed Jack's bleeding incision.

Wed. is a re run. Then not another new epi till week from TH.

Wayfaring_Stranger -> RE: Lost Season 4 (5/17/2008 9:14:19 PM)

I just had a horrid thought. Maybe it's Sayid in the casket. Sayid had no family to greet him when the Oceanic Six came home, and he is off killing people for Ben: at the end of the episode with his flash forward, he told Ben that those whoever he was after knew he was after them now, and I think Ben said that was good. If that person (someone working for Widmore, no doubt) then got to Sayid, as he almost did with that girl...well, Sayid could be the one killed. Hurley would be in the asylum at that point and so he wouldn't have made it to the funeral.

OTOH....it could be Ben in the casket, and Jack decides they need to take up his fight. But the former would be more plausible.

We rewatched this week's episode tonight with two sons who had missed it the first time. When Michael tells Sun, "I'm not working for Ben" -- does that mean he's working for Widmore? Or is he just saying that he is not doing this for Ben but because he has to?
