Good call, Random! I wondered if the polar bear excavation was the future site of the island -- or another polar bear escaped somehow in another part of the world. I am wondering if these rescuers are hired by Dharma people to come get Ben for killing off their people. Whatever happened to the rest of the Others? Some were killed at the beach, but some were still with Ben before he sent a crew off to the beach to get Sun and any other pregnant women. I was particularly wondering about the dark-eyed guy who recruited Juliette and later gave Locke Sawyer's file. I so didn't want this episode to end. When it did I looked at the clock and said, "What?!" It didn't seem like it should be time yet. Didn't like the whole ghost-buster storyline. It didn't seem logical that the spirit of the lady's grandson would tell him where money was stashed and then leave -- unless he thought the money would be going to is grandmother. Have we seen the grandson before? They kept showing huis picture on the wall of the house, but I couldn't place him.

Is the grandson episode a fast forward? The only thing I can think about is that the pictures looks like young adult...maybe Walt in the future? It seems like the episode last night with the new characters are like an intro to the beggining of the end.

I think the station symbol on the polar bear's collar was for the Hydra station, the one where the were doing research with animals, thus having the bear cages where they held Sawyer and Kate and the aquarium where they had Jack. Okay, so why is Locke not bleeding all over the place? He didn't even have a bandage on those wounds! Loved Jack's reply to Miles (whom I really don't like): "I don't know, Miles...how stupid are you?" I was riveted to my TV when Ben was spilling all that information and then all of a sudden they put the Lost end-of-program logo up there. My reaction was shock and then frustration - I even yelled at the TV.

I was re-watching the episode where Jack goes to the funeral home. Especially when Jack runs his hand over it, the casket doesn't seem to be "adult" size. It's smaller, more like for a child (though not so small as to be for a baby). Did anyone else notice that?

Maybe it was Walt's casket. He seems to be reinserting himself into the story, albeit in an invisible way. Had a theory on that cow, though - I would guess it was a refugee from the Flame Station. If I remember correctly, Patchy kept livestock there before it blew up. It'll be interesting to see how Jack responds to Miles' demands for Ben's head. After all, what does Jack care about him? I'd turn Ben over in a heartbeat.

I didn't even think that the excavation seen was a flash forward. I loved Jack in this episode. I bet next week Jack will want to hand Ben over to Miles and his crew but for some reason Locke won't want them to.

Locke was paralyzed when they first crashed and the island "healed" him. Locke has always had some kind of relationship with or insight into the island. quote:

I was particularly wondering about the dark-eyed guy who recruited Juliette and later gave Locke Sawyer's file. Apparently that actor is on another tv show right now so he's not really around to film Lost, but they want to keep him around and keep his storyline going, he just won't appear for a while. quote:
I thought it was funny when Locke mentioned that he saw Walt and then he said it's Walt but bigger I know some people aren't into spoilers and that this really isn't a spoiler but I was reading an interview with the producers and they said that Walt does reoccur in the show and that the issue of him getting bigger will be addressed in future storyline. Obviously they could not keep the actor who played Walt around on the island as he would grow too fast for the show.

We watched it again tonight with one of my sons who had missed it, and I caught that Charlotte's full name was Charlotte Staples Lewis -- C. S. Lewis.

I didn't catch that! As far as John's not bleeding, yeah, I agree that the island has healing powers--John was able to get up after being shot (even minus kidney), John gained the ability to walk, Jin was no longer sterile--so it's not surprising that John's wound would heal quickly. And that brings up the whole fate/destiny theme in this show. The fact that John's dad conned him out of his kidney later saved his life! That really floored me. quote:
I think the polar bear scene was another flash forward. The woman looked like the same one that Locke took with him, only about 20 years older. I also think the desert was the island. I can't remember if they've show the Scorpion before, need to go home and check the map from a couple of seasons ago. I didn't notice that the woman was older in the desert scene. That totally makes sense, then, that it would be a flash forward. It's sad, though, to think of the lush island becoming a desert. quote:

But it was happening at the time that Oceanic 815 was found in the ocean, same as the other three and they didn't look any older.

Yes, that's right! I had forgotten that. So there still IS a big mystery about the time factor.

The desert scene is not the island. It specifically said it was Tunisia on the bottom right of the screen as the jeep drove across the sand. I don't think it can be a flash forward because for one thing Naomi is already dead. The island has no reason to keep her alive like it did Locke and the others.

I just don't get why Charlotte is the only one who they show a Dharma connection with in the flashback. How does she recognize the Dharma symbol on the polar bear collar?

Since she is an anthropologist, I wonder if she has come across that symbol before? Maybe Dharma's work goes far beyond the island. I had been wondering if these people, or at least Abaddon, had something to do with Dharma and were after Ben because of his killing of everyone else at their facility. I don't know if Charlotte is with them per se or if she is studying Dharma's work or has some other vested interest in them.
