ORIGINAL: trinigirl722 As far as Kate goes, is Kate her real name? I was thinking it was her alias. It's possible the man who arrested her may not have had a chance to tell anyone he was bringing her back before the plane crashed. Or, if he did, he would have told them her real name. So if someone named "Kate" is rescued, will the law even know that this is the fugitive who was under arrest on the plane? (Or do they even know the fugitive was apprehended?) Maybe I'm getting confused ... it's hard to remember the exact details from the first season. But this might explain Kate's willingness to go back. Yes Kate is her real name. She called herself Kate when she saw her mom briefly in the hospital, and she was Kate to her old childhood friend, the Dr, remember? They went to dig up the old recording they made when they were kids, then she had him in the car and was running away from a pursuer, and crashed the car and he died. Can't remember all the details, but I remember that he died in a car that she was driving. Oh, maybe someone shot at her, and got him? And the little plane that she values so much, that was in the safe deposit box in New Mex was his. And at least one person died while she was stealing it. Her crimes go so much further than just setting the houise on fire to kill her stepdad. That's why I wondered also how come she isn't behind bars as soon as she gets back to the states? It's possible that they were lenient to her b/c of all she endured on the island, but I would think she'd at least be under house arrest, ala Martha Stewart, and you can't just leave your house in the middle of the nite like that, it has to be that you're going to work or something, and it has to be pre-arranged, and allowed by the prison. It just seems strange to me that she'd be out and seemingly free, like they showed her.
