One of my sons pointed out that Sayid said earlier about Ben, "The day I trust that man is the day I sell my soul" -- and apparently that's what he did.

Wow! That's true--I didn't even think about that.

quote:

I didn't see it coming at all the the girl was using Sayid to get to his boss just as he was using her to get to hers.

I got to wondering at one point if Sayid's protecting of his friends back on the island meant protecting them from being found out, like Kate and Sawyer, who'd likely be arrested if they came back. But then I remembered Kate did come back -- and I am wondering how that happens when she's technically a fugitive and apparently the Oceanic Six are well known. I wondered if the secrecy and covertness when she meets Jack at the airport have anything to do with that -- with her need to keep a low profile. I'm not sure -- it seemed to have more to do with her need to not let whoever the "he" was that she needed to get back to. I imagine we'll hear her "future" story some time soon.

And I'm wondering if Sayid ever tries to find Nadia when he goes back? That was the driving force that got him on the plane in the first place. It seems kind of sad to think of his working for Ben instead of looking for the woman he loves.

As far as Kate goes, is Kate her real name? I was thinking it was her alias. It's possible the man who arrested her may not have had a chance to tell anyone he was bringing her back before the plane crashed. Or, if he did, he would have told them her real name. So if someone named "Kate" is rescued, will the law even know that this is the fugitive who was under arrest on the plane? (Or do they even know the fugitive was apprehended?) Maybe I'm getting confused ... it's hard to remember the exact details from the first season. But this might explain Kate's willingness to go back.

Georgia-Peach -> RE: Lost Season 4 (2/16/2008 7:13:35 AM)

I have read some spoilers on the Kate storyline, they have it all worked out with her being a fugitive.

Heatherlea -> RE: Lost Season 4 (2/16/2008 8:07:32 AM)

I was thinking that Sayid was protecting the rest of the Oceanic six.
Does anyone else get really annoyed with Miles. He thinks he is in control but he isn't. [:)]
I think Sun and Jin are the last two of the Oceanic six.

Georgia-Peach -> RE: Lost Season 4 (2/16/2008 9:50:16 AM)

Yes, Miles is absolutely annoying and I almost do not understand why he is there. Like the storyline would have been fine without him as far as I can tell. But, yes very annoying...very!

dance4joy -> RE: Lost Season 4 (2/16/2008 11:43:20 AM)

I'm thinkin' his "ability" could come in quite handy. He could talk to the spirits of the Dharma people and find out what really happened.

trinigirl722 -> RE: Lost Season 4 (2/16/2008 12:15:28 PM)

I hadn't thought about his using his "ability" that way. That would sure come in handy. Maybe he'll be able to communicate with Jacob, too.

I see his "annoyingness" as comic relief, just like Sawyer's smart alec comments have been. It will be interesting to see how they interact when they meet.

It just occurred to me since reading something on Lost Media that, since Miles has been traded to Locke's group, he and Sawyer are probably going to meet at some point. Hee! I can't wait!

How come? Did they have some kind of connection, or do you think sparks will fly? I can see Sawyer getting irritated with Miles.

I still can't figure how Sayid got Locke to let both him and Charlotte go.

Abbreviated -> RE: Lost Season 4 (2/17/2008 2:39:36 AM)

So Ben is off the island.

MrsLavender -> RE: Lost Season 4 (2/17/2008 7:38:31 PM)

I just love LOST. Finally a show that makes you think![;)]

Sayid gave John his knowledge of Ben's secret room. Remember when John was blindfolded and brought to his dad? Ben told him, "Imagine that there's a magic box that allows you to go anywhere you want," or something to that effect. I believe that they're all very close to this "magic place" now, and John was more than happy to give up Charlotte for it. [:o]

trinigirl722 -> RE: Lost Season 4 (2/18/2008 12:26:31 AM)

Did anyone else think the acting came off as kind of "canned" this past week?

Most of the time it was great as usual, but there were a couple of places where it sounded like acting and reading lines. One place was when Kate and Sawyer are in the room together and Kate asks Sawyer how long they can continue playing house. To me she just sounded a little artificial, like she was reciting here lines (which she was, but I usually don't think about that fact). The other place was with Ben -- I can't remember exactly what, but he sounded like he was reading a line in monotone.

It just struck me as odd, because I usually never think about the fact that I'm watching actors reciting memorized lines.

Could be spoilers there.

Yes Kate is her real name. She called herself Kate when she saw her mom briefly in the hospital, and she was Kate to her old childhood friend, the Dr, remember? They went to dig up the old recording they made when they were kids, then she had him in the car and was running away from a pursuer, and crashed the car and he died. Can't remember all the details, but I remember that he died in a car that she was driving. Oh, maybe someone shot at her, and got him? And the little plane that she values so much, that was in the safe deposit box in New Mex was his. And at least one person died while she was stealing it. Her crimes go so much further than just setting the houise on fire to kill her stepdad. That's why I wondered also how come she isn't behind bars as soon as she gets back to the states? It's possible that they were lenient to her b/c of all she endured on the island, but I would think she'd at least be under house arrest, ala Martha Stewart, and you can't just leave your house in the middle of the nite like that, it has to be that you're going to work or something, and it has to be pre-arranged, and allowed by the prison. It just seems strange to me that she'd be out and seemingly free, like they showed her.

trinigirl722 -> RE: Lost Season 4 (2/19/2008 10:44:46 PM)

Thanks, Momof 4!

Yes, I remembered all that; I just for some reason thought Kate was not her real name. The guy who died was shot at because she was fleeing, and he was in the car with her when the police started shooting.

And in addition to everything you listed above, she was involved in the bank robbery. It will be interesting to see how she gets out of going to jail when she returns!

nicole6598 -> RE: Lost Season 4 (2/21/2008 4:43:28 PM)

we just had the episode where Sayid shoots that lady in Berlin last night. Very strange, I don't get the whole bracelet thing though. She had the same bracelet as that naomi chick, so does that mean she worked for whoever had that boat/helicopter too? So Desmond gets off the island too but he wouldn't be part of the Oceanic six.

ZazzyPaws -> RE: Lost Season 4 (2/21/2008 5:29:42 PM)

I haven't been following LOST 100% but my big thing is I wish they hadn't killed Charlie! :(

Julie1955 -> RE: Lost Season 4 (2/21/2008 9:21:30 PM)

What I want to know is if they're lost -- why is the fat guy still fat?[sm=moocow.gif]

There is an article here about the show with Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse. They say there is no connection with the bracelets.

I got to wondering after the show, though, why Sayid was negotiating with Ben and not with Locke about leaving Miles and taking Charlotte -- and how he got Locke to agree. I wonder if Ben is somehow controlling Locke?

Duh -- I don't know why I was thinking he negotiated with Ben. Watched the recap tonight and he did talk with Locke.

I'll refrain from posting about tonight's new episode til tomorrow.

Abbreviated -> RE: Lost Season 4 (2/21/2008 10:57:40 PM)

Kate did not do what I think she did.

momof4 -> RE: Lost Season 4 (2/22/2008 7:47:04 AM)

Last nite's episode, WOW! Never saw that coming, I mean the last few seconds. But OTOH, I am soooo used to them pulling stuff, that in another way, it didn't surprize me at all! Just the sort of thing I have come to expect from them.

Heatherlea -> RE: Lost Season 4 (2/22/2008 8:40:41 AM)

A very good revealing episode. Kate gets probation and has a son, it's probably Sawyer's.
It's interesting how Ben can still manipulate Locke's emotions.

BTW Matthew Fox was on Good Morning America the other day promoting his new movie, he said they would probably be able to do five more episodes. Yeah!

Did you not see the last scene? It's not Sawyer's.

P.S. As they showed her going up to the room, I told my wife, "It's gonna be XXXXX" and I was right. Twice in one season!!

uncabeeil -> RE: Lost Season 4 (2/22/2008 9:42:41 AM)

Because they've only been on the island for a couple of months. This ain't 24, where an hour is an hour. On this show an hour could be 3 seconds or 3 weeks.

dance4joy -> RE: Lost Season 4 (2/22/2008 10:34:51 AM)

Wow. . .those last 2 seconds. . .talk about cold chills!! I totally wasn't expecting that!

*Spoiler in white*

My only question though is how is it that nobody has asked any questions? I mean anyone who can count should be able to realize there's a discrepancy. Claire was hugely pregnant when they crashed on that island and Kate clearly wasn't. How could she explain turning up after just a few months on the island with a baby several months old?
