Wow. . .those last 2 seconds. . .talk about cold chills!! I totally wasn't expecting that!

*Spoiler in white*

My only question though is how is it that nobody has asked any questions? I mean anyone who can count should be able to realize there's a discrepancy. Claire was hugely pregnant when they crashed on that island and Kate clearly wasn't. How could she explain turning up after just a few months on the island with a baby several months old?

in white just cuz it's fun
She could say that the mother of the baby died shortly after they crashed. Jack said in his testimony that 8 survived the crash but only 6 lived.

A very good revealing episode. Kate gets probation and has a son, it's probably Sawyer's.
!

Right at the very end Kate called the baby Aaron -- Claire's son.

They said 8 survived the crash and 2 died -- I wonder if they count those two as 2 that have already died or if 2 more will die between now and the time they get rescued -- like Claire, maybe?

Other points from last night --

Kate's probation about not leaving the state for 10 years will hamper Jack's attempts to get her to go back to the island.

Sun wants to raise her baby in Korea -- but that will pose problems for Jin with her father.

I'm still curious about many things -- the cabin and why it moved, who Ben really is.

I wonder if Aaron counts as one of the Oceanic 6?

I wonder why Jack didn't want to see the baby? It would make sense if the baby was Sawyer's, but not since it is Aaron.

I wonder if Jack and Claire will ever find out they are related?

So many questions!!!

We were wondering about the time factor as we watched last night, especially when Kate first mentioned her son. Aaron looked a good bit older than Claire's baby, but if they get off the island soon with this freighter, then Kate will be instantly recognized and rearrested -- unless it takes a while for things to come to trial, it wouldn't be that long between the rescue and the trial. Of course, we don't know how the time warp that Faraday found works -- is there more of a time warp the farther you get away from the island?

And I wonder about the memory game with the cards that Faraday and Charlotte were doing -- is this an indication that he is in the beginning stages if dementia or something?

Kath -> RE: Lost Season 4 (2/22/2008 1:41:02 PM)

Maybe this time warp thing where time moves faster on the island will explain Tall Walt. [;)]

I never thought of that but it would explain the exchange between the two in the season finale, where he kept saying they had to go back and she kept saying she couldn't. (If I remember right)

The only thing I can think of is Jack did something to cause Claire's death and he's full of guilt.

momof4 -> RE: Lost Season 4 (2/22/2008 3:20:00 PM)

OK, I have been mulling this over, the baby thing... They want us to THINK that the baby is Claire's Aaron... He COULD be Kate and Sawyer's baby, and she named him Aaron, after the other Aaron. Either way, it took them long enuf to bring her to trial, since the baby is at least 2 yrs old, talking, sleeping in a toddler bed, etc, and Claire's Aaron would be only about 2 months old when rescued, IF they really are rescued in the next few days/ wks., so that puts the trial about 2 yrs after rescue, which seems pretty slow. If it is Kate and Sawyer's baby, then it would be more like 3 yrs after rescue.

Another question, I'm thinking that Oceanic must have paid off the survivors handsomely, or else how could Kate afford a house like that? How can she work, since she's an escaped fugitive? No other means of support, she doesn't come from money, or anything, so the only thing I can think of is that Oceanic paid her and the others off quite well.

Does anyone else thnk that Oceanic must be owned or at least controlled by Dharma? I think they have to be.

As for te time warp, why would people grow up faster, just b/c the time skips over some time? I think that you would go to the time that you go to, but your body would mature at the same rate as if you hadn't skipped over a yr or whatever.

Haave they ever addressed what happened to the kids from the tail section that the Others took?

That's probably why they had to get Walt off the show. The actor who plays him would be four years older and hard to explain that only 90 days had passed from season 1 to season 4.

Another possibility we were thinking of before the end of the show was that Kate had a baby she left behind with someone while she was on the run before the crash (she was married before). That would account for a bit older child. In the enhanced repeat of the previous week's episode, one of the pop-up subtitles said they had been on the island 92 days.

But then when she said "Aaron, we just assumed it was Claire's Aaron. If it is that would explain to some degree why she doesn't wasn't her mother to meet him and wants to keep him out of the public eye, if she's trying to pass him off as her own son -- which makes me think something fishy happened to Claire.

Yes -- in Sayid's flash forward last week, on the golf course the other man said he hadn't seen anyone all morning, and Sayid said, "We pay a premium price for such privacy." When the man asked what he did, he said nothing, then explained he had received a settlement in a plane crash.

I don't know, but I am wondering if that's how they are going to explain why Walt is taller.

Last we saw, they were with the Others, with the lady who was a stewardess.
There are still some more Others out there, or there should be -- end of last season when Ben sent some off to the beach to get the women, he still had some with him.

I missed last week, so I watched the enhanced version this week and it said that Ben sent them to the temple where ever that is.

Isn't that where they tried to get Locke to kill his dad?

we just had the episode where Sayid shoots that lady in Berlin last night. Very strange, I don't get the whole bracelet thing though. She had the same bracelet as that naomi chick, so does that mean she worked for whoever had that boat/helicopter too?

I read an interview online (I think it was TV Guide) with Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof, and they said it didn't mean anything that Naomi and the other lady had similar bracelets. I'm not sure whether I completely believe that, but that's what they said.

*THUD* That's what I wanted to do when I realized Kate's child was Aaron. How in the world did THAT happen? This show makes my brain hurt.

I couldn't help laughing at Miles' terrified expression when Locke jammed a grenade in his mouth. I think Locke has gone off the deep end.

Sayid told the guy on the golf course (before he shot him) that he does nothing - he doesn't have to because he's one of the Oceanic Six and got a huge settlement from the airline. I'm guessing Kate got the same.

Kath -> RE: Lost Season 4 (2/23/2008 12:33:44 AM)

I know it made me feel sorry for Hurley. He was so tickled that his fortune was gone because they thought he was dead and then he got money from Oceanic.

Wayfaring_Stranger -> RE: Lost Season 4 (2/23/2008 5:04:19 PM)

I just thought of something...

(Do any of the rest of you find your mind working on Lost angles throughout the day? Not that we're obsessed or anything...)

In the "enhanced" version of the previous week's episode, one of the little pop-up subtitles made mention of Penelope's father, Charles Widmore (or is it Widmark?) But I just got to thinking -- what if he is behind the freighter people. He would know about Desmond and Penny and have access to that picture of them and could have used it to give to Naomi (or Abaddon) to help convince Desmond that the freighter people were good guys. He probably knows Penny is looking for Desmond. I had wondered some time back if he knew or had something to do with the island before and had something to do with Desmond's crashing there. But I would guess he doesn't want Desmond found. If he did know or have something to do with the island before, he probably knows Ben, too.

Ben told him, "Imagine that there's a magic box that allows you to go anywhere you want," or something to that effect. I believe that they're all very close to this "magic place" now, and John was more than happy to give up Charlotte for it.

Very good catch.

I think this is the same device that Ben uses to leave the island at will. Thus, the hidden room Sayid found that was full of hung business suits, passports, and international cash. Otherwise, I think that unless someone uses that specific bearing that Ben told Michael, there is no way to escape the island.

I think Ben is evil incarnate, almost a Satanic figure, vis-a-vis his constant lying and murderous past.

It'll be interesting to see if he's still alive when "Lost" ends. In the meantime, it's been fun to see Ben getting the tar kicked out of him so often lately.

I don't think so. Some of the kids appeared at the Hydra station when Sawyer, Jack, and Kate were confined in those bear cages. I think that snatching them was Ben's way of trying to ensure the Others would maintain a healthy population considering that pregnant women were dying.

I'd like to see an update on where the Others are now. Since Ben sent them off to "the temple" there's been no mention of them at all.

GrahamCracker -> RE: Lost Season 4 (2/26/2008 6:24:37 PM)

Does the public regard Ben as one of the Oceanic Six? He had all of those fake passports. How did he wind up in Europe with Sayid if he wasn't "rescued"?

furrypurrykitty -> RE: Lost Season 4 (2/26/2008 8:48:39 PM)

Cuse and Lindelof said Ben could be one of the Six even though he wasn't on the plane, but I think they're messing with us. We're supposed to know after the seventh episode who all of the Six are.

Random -> RE: Lost Season 4 (2/28/2008 10:03:00 PM)

This episode reminded me a lot of "Slaughterhouse Five". In fact, someone (I forget who) said someone else had "come unstuck in time" which is almost a direct quote from Slaughterhouse Five.

jodavi -> RE: Lost Season 4 (2/28/2008 10:26:49 PM)

Whoa- so Desmond is Marty Mcfly meeting Doc to help him out in 1996.
I totally forgot that Mr Mead from Ugly Betty was Penny's dad. And btw why was Fisher Stevens role too short and his name has been showing on the opening credits for the last 3 episodes.

Probably because we heard his voice a couple of times on the satellite phone.

Wayfaring_Stranger -> RE: Lost Season 4 (2/29/2008 12:05:57 AM)

You know, when Rousseau used to talk about all the people on her boat getting some kind of sickness, I wonder if it was this same thing?

Loved this episode! I am so glad Desmond made it and talked to Penny. I was afraid they were going to kill him off. Wasn't that the sweetest conversation? I hope they make it.

momof4 -> RE: Lost Season 4 (2/29/2008 9:39:34 AM)

So who is Fisher Stevens? Who is his character, I mean? Is he Penny's dad? I loved the phone call Des made to Penny! Imagine it's Christmas Eve, 2004. Maybe WE are the ones in a time warp! [;)][sm=dance.gif][sm=angel.gif]

Probably! And I wonder what's happening to Michael and Tall Walt.

and I wonder why it didn't seem to effect Ben. Apparently he could go back and forth, same with Richard, that guy that is Tom Cruise's cousin and who else? Can't think of anyone else.

Fisher Stevens played the communications officer who died last night - whose brain fried out, like the rat.

He used to play Chuck Fishman on The Early Edition.

I agree, he was not on LOST long enough.

Course, maybe he died on the boat, but not in reality (whatever THAT is)...

Do you suppose that somehow Ben has figured out how to travel without the effects that Desmond was experiencing? Maybe that is whay Miles said "we know who you are and what you can do" (rough quote).

jodavi -> RE: Lost Season 4 (2/29/2008 10:10:08 AM)

What was interesting with last night's episode, I read an article a year ago that one theory was that the main characters in this entire show could be Desmond and Penny. Jack and the rest are subplots who evolves around these two and after last night's episode, I'm beginning to believe that too.
