Hi Maggie, and thank you for your prayers. It was a sad service this morning. After the service, we had a potluck ... something that had already been planned before the events of the past week. It was a good time of sharing tears, and encouraging one another in the Lord.

And I had a chance to hold my friend's little newborn. She is precious beyond words! There is nothing that compares with a tiny baby's innocence. *big happy sigh*

We're just hanging out now. The munchkin is blowing up balloons. I am not a balloon fan ... something about a whole bunch of brothers and popping balloons. Yeah, gotta love some of those memories. But I have to share that he created a fishing pole and caught a , so it's pretty cute.

So, I had a fun music memory recently. This song makes me smile. Okay, I admit I am a Frankie Valli fan.

Hi Mikey! I heard the song when I was waiting for my lunch the other day, and I went back to my desk and had to YouTube it ... then I went off on a little tangent and YouTubed some of his other hits.

Hey ... go Phillies!!!

There's something very special about newborns at a time of mourning. They remind us that life goes on and God keeps adding precious people to this world.

Mornings in my house have been interesting. I have a near-teenager who does not want to get out of bed. I think I am going to resort to a really early bedtime ... starting tonight.

... I'm also loading the water gun

I have a strange feeling tomorrow we will be leaving the house on time.

LOL, good luck Sam! You might want to invest in a larger water gun...

You might put that water gun in the fridge overnight for a greater effect.

LOL !!! We have the super-soaker!!!

I wish I had a picture of the look on his face when I informed him of my plan. I'm not sure if was the idea that I would actually do such a thing, or if it was the big smile on my face ...

I would think the water gun would be a lot more fun for Sam...

You know, if we lived in a cold climate, I could open the windows and fling the covers off him ... *contemplates options* ... but for now I will have to settle for the super soaker.

I may as well have some fun with this parenting thing.

Very true, Sam, very true.

From someone living in a cold climate, opening the windows would be counter productive. He'd just burrow deeper under his blankets. Once you've soaked his bed with water, it won't be comfortable to lay there anymore.

Hi Maggie.

What a day it has been. My headache is almost gone ...

Dennis' funeral was wonderful. His coworkers put together a video honoring his memory. It was beautiful. Lots of references to his faith. Dennis was the joke / story teller, you know the kind that have a meaning to them. "Dennis parables" LOL

His granddaughter sang "I Can Only Imagine". She has an incredible voice!

We went to the National Cemetary and he had a 21-gun salute. This was the first time I have been to a graveside service for a serviceman. There were several elderly men who did the salute, and played Taps, and gave the simple service. I really appreciated them! What an amazing service they perform for those being buried there.

So many tears today.

This was a man who truly loved his wife. I want a marriage like theirs ... what an inspiration! Have you ever been around a couple and could just feel their love for one another? My heart breaks for her.

But, even through the tears of sadness of this temporary separation until I see him again, I did have a little smile. I pictured him loving the fact that he was in heaven, at the feet of Jesus, and humbly asking him "Please, Lord, please, bring Mark home. He has suffered so much."

THAT was Dennis' heart. So full of love.

It sounds like it was a good service. I'm glad you were able to attend.

Do you ever feel like you are in an alien land?

You look around you and everything seems foreign?

You hear what others say and think "Wow. Where did that come from?"

You see what others are doing and wonder "Wow. Do they think that is acceptable behavior?"

Do you ever feel like this world is spinning completely out of control?

Thank God for friends in my life who are also believers. They help me realize I am not losing my mind. That what is going on in the world around me is all part of His plan. And they help me stay strong.

God is so awesome! Here are two verses that He brought to my attention this morning ...

For our citizenship is in heaven ... (Philippians 3:20)

... and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever (Psalms 23:6)

Hi Sam, were your question rhetorical or were you looking for actual answers instead?

Hi Mikey!

A little of both ... this is a crazy world. Would you agree with that?

Sometimes I observe things and don't even know what to think.

Hi Sam, ok I would say yes and yes, or yes to all!

Reminds me of the scripture:

1 Peter 4:12 (NIV):

12Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you.

Yes! That is an awesome verse

Hey, how's the weather where you are? We are starting to get some chilly nights/mornings. The other day I actually had to put the heater on my feet when I was driving in to work. Okay, maybe I should stop wearing sandals ..... or not.

I am enjoying it getting cooler. Makes for some good sleeping. And I love snuggly sweaters!

It was chilly in the early mornings earlier this week, then got into the 50's or so. Its been more mild later in the week but has been rainy and wet since Thursday.

We have snow--lots and lots of snow (and ice). No sandals for us anymore, but I can pretty much guarantee that there will be a couple of people at church wearing shorts, silly people.

Shorts and snow?

We're getting rain today! Woo Hoo!! There was a giant clap of thunder, and it set off some car alarms. It was great

My current avatar I took when I woke up this morning.
