Hey Shema - here's a pic of the convertible from last year!

Thanks for the link. Great choice of rental vehicle. Vroom Vroom!! Is the Indy 500 taking place the GT weekend? [;)]

Okay....I have a dumb question. I was browsing through the pictures again from last year and I was checking out the double decker pontoons and from what I'm seeing it looks like the end of the slide is really close to the motor. Isn't that kind of dangerous? I know most likely the motor wouldn't be running while you would be playing and going down the slide but still...if you didn't get a good start off the top it just seems like you could go in awfully close.

Like I said, I know that's a dumb question. But I'm curious. May be the photos just make it look closer than it really is.

A. The motor is NEVER running when anyone is in the water. (Key is out of the ignition)

B. End of slide is a good three feet from motor. Typical landing is about 5 feet from motor. Never heard of anyone sliding into the motor on one of these.

Ahhhh....I knew it must be further from the motor than it looked. I could just imagine if you kind of stuck a little going down the slide and did more of a drop at the end and hit the motor that could hurt even with it not running.

Like I said, I knew that was a dumb question but I just had to ask. Now that I know I will sleep better tonight. [sm=tonguehappy.gif] Thanks

Pontoon rentals

Here's one of what I'm looking at. The 34 has room for 24 and the 28 has room for 12. So it depends on how many we have coming. We can get nice pontoons but they run about 469 for the day as opposed to about 300 for these

Here's another one

Now these boats are a little better appointed but they cost a little more and only rent until 5. The first link above is for all day. These have a restroom but with my boat there I can run people into the rest area if needed.

I figure we'll anchor the big boat in the party cove (about where the two boats with the humungous crowd of people were last year) so fuel costs shouldn't be bad at all. Maybe a couple gallons tops.

Then I'll tour and tow on my boat while the rest can sun and swim and whatever.

John_O -> RE: 2008 Singles GT - June, in IN (1/4/2008 10:40:34 PM)

Map of monroe

The party cove is just outside Allens Creek. We swam just to the west of Paynetown SRA About in the double toothed cove on the south bank

I so wish I could come to the GT's. Is having a mini one in or near Cleveland around August out of the question? [:D]

humbleinspirit -> RE: 2008 Singles GT - June, in IN (1/4/2008 11:50:28 PM)

Why Cleveland? That is not too far to fly to.

mutinywxgirl -> RE: 2008 Singles GT - June, in IN (1/5/2008 6:38:12 AM)

Mike - they're going there on their honeymoon.

Regarding the boat - John, you're dealing with a LOT of women attending this thing, so it would probably be a VERY good thing to have the one with the restroom, otherwise you'll be making those runs most of the day! LOL

Secondly - even if it's only until 5pm, that's fine - I know for me, if we're out that entire time, I'll be utterly exhausted and needing to get in from the sun/heat. Nine hours on the water is a LONG time!!!

Then, if some want to head back to the house, we can do that, and if others still want to stay out for a while longer on your boat, that's okay too.

Just thinking ahead. For me, I'll be utterly sick if I stay out that long and it's hot. I just know me.

Something to think about.......

Edited to add - the SuperToon looks perfect for our group.

Unfortunately, no. It's on May 25th, nearly 2 weeks before.

That car was SUCH a gift from God! I had wanted a convertible so badly, but it was too cost prohibitive, so I just rented a "midsize" for the 5 days. Well, when I went to get the car, we were chatting about my photography and soccer and stuff, and as she was looking through the cars and telling me about the "upgrades" nothing interested me. Then she says, "well, I have a PT Cruiser convertible for $10/day more". I said, SOLD!!!!! So, I get a car I want for only $50 more than the original cost (that was already pretty cheap). I nearly cried as I left because of how God took such good care of me on that trip. He KNEW I needed that fun and freedom and you can talk to the others who were there - they were surprised I didn't get any tickets! LOL

Oh, and the better story is in downtown Chicago as I was picking up Kuku on Friday. I pulled up to the bus station and there were too many cars - so since I had the top down, I put the car in park and stood up and hollered out her name. She told me later that when I did that, she knew we'd have a good time!

So, all of you, please pray that I can get another one of these cars again - I want to buy one - it was just awesome!!!!!!!!!!! Even my friend in MO was impressed and laughed when he saw me in it.

mutinywxgirl -> RE: 2008 Singles GT - June, in IN (1/5/2008 7:54:08 AM)

Did a bit of math - using the large boat for the figures.

Basically, figure, max cost for you for the weekend (excluding travel) will be $50 - that'll include boat rental, fuel and food. Since John is willing to put up people again, this should hopefully help folks in their planning.

Any questions, let us know!

John is initially covering the boat rental and I will be covering the food purchases again. We will be the ones needing reimbursed that weekend.

mutinywxgirl -> RE: 2008 Singles GT - June, in IN (1/5/2008 8:02:54 AM)

I updated the OP with all this information as well, so if you know if others who are interested, direct them to that post - it should answer many of their questions.

Also, you may want to bookmark some of the information in this thread so you can readily find it again when you need it.

mutinywxgirl -> RE: 2008 Singles GT - June, in IN (1/5/2008 2:05:12 PM)

Most definitely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lots of people drove much father last year. Please DO consider it!!!!! It'll be awesome.

Hopefully Janelle will come as well - and we can have "surround sound" photography of John! [:D]

That's a joke from last year when Janelle and I picked up our cameras simultaneously and started shooting him driving the boat. He said, "Hmmm, photography is stereo." With Gary now having a DSLR and Sharon considering coming with her camera, and a few others, it truly will be surround sound photography.

benelchi -> RE: 2008 Singles GT - June, in IN (1/5/2008 3:27:53 PM)

Will there be water skiing?

mutinywxgirl -> RE: 2008 Singles GT - June, in IN (1/5/2008 3:29:48 PM)

Don't know if John's boat is powerful enough for that - I know he does the tubing though.

believeinhim2 -> RE: 2008 Singles GT - June, in IN (1/5/2008 5:05:07 PM)

I will definately give it some thought. It sounds like a good time.

mutinywxgirl -> RE: 2008 Singles GT - June, in IN (1/5/2008 5:08:11 PM)

That's all we ask. In about April I'll send out info to folks who have expressed interest, and we'll go from there.

I can see the four of us surrounding poor John and we can take pictures of the others taking pictures of John. [:D]

You need to build some sort of carosel then you could all rotate around him while you take pictures so you each get all the different angles. [:D]
