It was hot and humid this past week-end and we had lots of storms rolling through. Twisters were spotted all around us and we got 9" of rain from all them storms! We have things flooding around all over the place.
Roads are closed down in many area's The lake I live on is over the bank right now. My pier is under water. Have it tied down to my tree's. My road is flooded with water..but you can still go through. The road up the street from me had to park in the higher area, and take a boat back to their house even! It was chest high waters going over their road. My son went fishing last night, and was fishing right in the middle of the street! Caught alot of bullheads and carp. The farmlands are flooded. And north of us the folks lost three homes. They went right into the lake. And the whole lake washed into the Wiconsin river. Yup..they lost the entire lake!! I just can't beleive this weather. More rain is expected tomorrow. About an inch or more.

My niece and her family live in Wisconsin (not sure exactly where tho - note to self find out) and the last time I talked to my sister she said they were doing okay although the storm sewers in their tiny town are about useless anymore and the animal shelter where my niece used to work lost parts of it's roof a while back and thus several animals were seriously injured and had to be put down.[:(][:(][:(]

I watched as those homes went right into the lake on the news the other night! WOW! No that's not even the proper word for it! I was speechless. The one house was the size of my home, and both of my neighbors homes put together - it was huge! And it just slid right off into the raging torrent! My heart was breaking! It was obvious that these folks had just lost EVERYTHING!

Around here - HOT! HUMID! and icky sticky! The kids want to go swimming. I'm just hoping the storms that we are supposed to get later hold off until AFTER Ethan's soccer game tonight and are gone before the final game on Saturday! That and we don't get the hail they are predicting! I don't have enough large containers to cover all my tomato and zucchinni plants!

Blessings,

Garsy

As I look out the window now I see that it is very overcast and a bit windy. I heard that there are meant to be thunderstorms in the next couple days.

OK...I posted this probably about 4pm...I finished work at 5.30, drove to my bf's work to pick him up but he wasn't quite finished so we didn't end up leaving until about 6.20pm. In that time I could hear this really heavy rain and I was thinking, "that sounds really loud, did I accidentally leave the door open?" But no, the door was closed and it really was bucketing down. I turned down my bf's offer to drive my car (I need to learn to drive in this weather, and it's best I do with someone else in the car). Then I heard the thunder and a couple flashes of lightning. I could hardly see the lines on the road driving through the city and then on the freeway there was this bucketing down rain + fog to hinder visibility. Needless to say the speed limits had been dropped and I was sticking to them (or less, depended on the car in front of me). I was a bit nervous driving in that kind of weather for the first time but I did it so hopefully it won't be so bad next time.

Yes, it's pretty bad around here. I'm doing OK yet, but the banks of my lake are spilling over into my yard. My road is flooded over. And their is only ONE way and ONE road to get out here. The lake is on both side's of me.

I hope the rain stops Barb.

It's calm and quiet here tonight. Last night at this time I was just coming up from the basement after the storm sirens blew. The town next to us took a direct hit from a tornado. Around 80 percent of the houses there were damaged or destroyed. Also both of their schools were hit. It's a small town.

Hi Barb, Amy, Dee & Garsy!

Oh my Barb, flooding, scary!

Bubbles5 -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (6/13/2008 8:38:12 AM)

The rains have stopped..my house is still standing..and the water over our road is only 3" deep. So all is well in my area [;)]

Its been quite nice here this week with the exception of it being overcast a lot. I welcome the cooler weather!

garsyt -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (6/21/2008 11:04:02 PM)

had a storm blow through today. lasted about 30 minutes and was all done, but it rained hard and even hailed for about 10 of those minutes! Our hail was pea sized but I guess north of us got larger stuff! Cooled off about 15 degrees when the front went through! Then it was a gorgeous afternoon and evening! Grilled out and had a fire in the firepit for s'mores and hotdogs!

Blessings,

Garsy

Hello to all of you Weather people! [sm=wave.gif][sm=wave.gif]

Our weather in Wyoming has been a very cool (and wet) Spring. Finally (in the last week or so) it has warmed up though. We have been in a drought for maybe 7 years and the wonderful rain we have received has finally taken us out of the drought. Yippee! [:D]

For those of you who have received way too much rain, I'm sorry and pray that things have dried out for you.

Nightime Temps: 40's
Daytime Temps: 60's & 70's

BeckeyZ -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (6/22/2008 3:39:15 PM)

We got up to 102ş the other day. Nothin' but hot fun here in TX.

Bubbles5 -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (6/23/2008 8:42:09 AM)

We have had releif from all the downpours. Gave us a chance to dry out finally. Did get some rain over the week-end, but it was very light. Guess rain is in the forcast for this week also. I think we have dried out enough if we get that rain this week tho. My road is open, and the lakeshore is going down some. The temps last week were in the 80's. Got alittle warm..but not to bad.

sunshine4God -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (6/23/2008 10:37:01 AM)

I wish we could get some relief from downpours.its been raining and stormy these last few nights.I hate it!

humbleinspirit -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (6/28/2008 5:00:57 PM)

Hello fellow weather friends and observers!

It has been overcast today. Yesterday there was a nice sea breeze but we did have a passing downpour though. This weather is getting me kinda down. I hope that it clears up real soon!

sunshine4God -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (6/29/2008 12:38:03 AM)

The weather was really hot today. It was the perfect day for my friends sons birthday party.

amymelissa -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (6/29/2008 8:06:49 PM)

Such a miserable June day. I do see a bit of sun shining through but it's mostly overcast and raining. The rain is nice though, not so much the wind.

amymelissa -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (7/8/2008 10:01:25 PM)

Wow, I had to find this on the second page.

It's been absolutely freezing here in Adelaide. Got to a top of 12*C on Monday, 13 on Tuesday and supposed to get to only 15 today (15*C = 59*F). We've had over 50ml of rain in a couple days so that's really helping out our farmers. Maybe this year will actually be a good crop despite the drought.

BeckeyZ -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (7/8/2008 10:03:05 PM)

We have finally gotten enough rain to break the drought.

Praise God!!

sunshine4God -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (7/9/2008 12:29:43 AM)

Its been hot here.Today was 90!

Bubbles5 -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (7/9/2008 7:39:56 AM)

We have been muggy around my parts. Dew points were in the 70's. Had to shut everything up, and turn on the CA for a few days. But this morning we got a cool front again. Got to open them windows and listen to the birds again. The muggy weather brings along thunder storms. Two nights ago we had lightning, and it struck a local boy. He was only 17 years old. He was an Honor student, and would have started his senior year in high school this Aug. How sad is that? Guess that shows everyone the importance of staying inside when the storms and lightning roll through.

garsyt -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (7/9/2008 11:06:04 AM)

had a nasty storm role through here yesterday afternoon. LOTS of rain in a very short amount of time. Rivers are high again and we had flash flooding problems at the various typical places that always flood. I'm dreading going to the park today because the bugs are going to be awful!!!

Garsy

I looked at the thermometre when I left for work this morning and it was just 6*C (42*F)
