Oh my, I didn't mean to sound preachy at all Amymelissa. Yes, true I am more than twice your age, but still.[sm=blush.gif]

Hehe, don't worry bout it Mike, I was just teasing.

Was a nice night on Saturday. Was about 3°C but not wet or raining or hailing.

AlphaCentauri -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (8/26/2008 3:27:30 AM)

It's been raining pretty much non stop since Sunday and we have floods in the area again. same as a week or so ago. Not much fun.

amymelissa -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (8/28/2008 12:30:38 AM)

For the second morning in a row I had to wash the ice off my car before being able to drive to work.

humbleinspirit -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (8/30/2008 10:46:26 AM)

Hi Alpha, Judy, Nicole, Amy and Mvic!

Oh my, ice! I am thinking of winter already! [sm=icon_smile_cold.gif]

sunshine4God -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (8/30/2008 11:10:12 PM)

Our weather has been breezy lately but will soon warm up.

mvic -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (8/31/2008 10:25:43 AM)

Saturday 30th - Beautiful and sunny in the UK. Temperature 23C.

Sunday 31st - Grey but dry and warm. Temperature 22.567C.

Just noticed something: On TV we have more weather forecasters than we have weather.

amymelissa -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (8/31/2008 10:42:01 PM)

Well, we've just recorded our coldest August temps. Average high was just 14.8°C (compared to 16.6°C)

Can't wait for summer!!

humbleinspirit -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (8/31/2008 11:51:26 PM)

Hi Nicole, Mvic and Amy!

I need to visit England someday soon!

Hi Amy. some days here we struggle to get the temp into double figures.

Like you I can't wait for summer.

Hi Humbleinspirit,

Welcome to England, Scotland and Wales. Ireland too. Weather fine today.

Depends what you're looking for - we've got it. Theatres, restaurants, museums, churches, castles, distilleries, arts and crafts, mountains (little ones), hills (medium ones), lakes (fair sized ones), etc ... etc ...

Do I sound like a travel agent?

Best of all we have weather. Plenty of it. Sun, rain, wind, snow, drizzle, dark clouds - sometimes we get all of these on the same day. And we've also got plenty of weather forecasters on TV. Morning, noon and evening. And no repeat shows either. Every weather forecast is unique.

I run my own weather station. I keep a piece of string tied to a tree.

If it's still and dry - no wind and sunshine.
If it moves about - slight wind.
If it's horizontal - too much wind.
If it's wet - rain or drizzle.
If I can't see it - fog, or possibly it is night time.

I'll paint it with phosphorescent paint to I can see it at night.

That is the best explanation I have ever heard!
I thought about putting a thread on a tree at my house.

First I have to plant a tree.

It's raining here in Wyoming and we really need the moisture.
Temp this morning ~~~ in the 50's.

Anyone watching Gustav?

mvic -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (9/1/2008 10:44:04 AM)

I remember holidaying in Malta.

Temperature there was in the top 50s in the shade.

I was clever and kept out of the shade.

Hi Alpha, Mvic and April!

I heard that most hotels in England do not have AC in the summer or are heated a bit cooler than what the US is used to also.

While the Pound is 2 to 1 on the US dollar, but the museums are free. I would really like to visit there!

mvic -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (9/1/2008 1:34:21 PM)

Depends which hotels - I've stayed in hotels with Air Conditioning.

Yes, museums are free, but would you believe it - you have to pay to visit some churches/cathedrals. I refuse to pay to go to pray. I don't mind making a donation in the collection box for the upkeep of the church (not all get Government funding) but to have to pay to enter is a step too far. Reminds me of Jesus overturning tables in the temple.

But please don't let that put you off visiting the UK.

humbleinspirit -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (9/1/2008 1:35:20 PM)

It is in my plans, hopefully I can stay with a friend of mine that I have known for over 30 years.

sunshine4God -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (9/1/2008 11:54:42 PM)

warm and sunny

Here in the UK we don't have any weather right now. Just rain. And rain. And more rain ...

I would take some of the sort of weather right now.

My grass is turning brown and my garden is in bad shape.
There is a burning ban enforced in the township.
and it flat out to hot out to do much of anything outside today.
My allergies are taking a serious hit and I can assure you my youngest ds will need to use his inhaler tonight as the dryness is sure to raise havoc with his allergies and asthma.

Blessings,

Garsy

mvic -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (9/2/2008 4:48:36 PM)

Hi Garsy,

Sorry to hear it's hot and dry where you are. Today the UK has been a bit warmer. Getting ready for more rain I suppose ... oh ho ... here comes the rain once again. It tends to rain at night nowadays (it's now 9.45 pm) which is good I suppose.

Where is "the bottom of the laundry basket"? Northern or southern hemisphere? I Googled it and they told me to "grow up" !!!

garsyt -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (9/2/2008 8:09:15 PM)

In my case "the bottom of the laundry basket" is in NE Indiana in the good old USA! [:D]
We could get some residual affects of hurricane Gustav, but the weather guy doesn't think it's going to be more then a pop-up thunderstorm maybe. It'll all go south of us for sure.

Blessings,

Garsy

AprilMtns -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (9/3/2008 8:26:20 AM)

So sorry for this sorry weather report this morning. But someone had to do it.

34 degrees

Here is a picture of one of my outside flowers [sm=flower.gif] before they all wilted.

[:(]
Looks like it's gonna be a looo-oong Winter. [;)]

Bubbles5 -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (9/3/2008 9:33:39 AM)

Been pretty dry in my parts also. Our grass is brown in area's too.
But we do get some rain out of Hurricane Gustav...moveing into Wisconsin tomorrow. Might even get and inch or two. [sm=thumbsup.gif]
Yesterday was pretty hot and humid, but a cold front rolled in from the West, last night. Dew point dropped down to 53 and the temps are standing at 61 degrees this morning. I love it [:D]

garsyt -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (9/3/2008 10:47:50 AM)

Even my hearty mums and zinnas have wilted! My lilac bushes usually look really green and nice at this point in the year, but even they are showing signs of it being so dry. I'm off to water the garden. The poor tomatos need it bad before the sun hits the garden and evaporates everything!

It is a tad bit cooler today! Yeah!

Blessings,

Garsy

Bubbles5 -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (9/3/2008 11:15:05 AM)

Yes Garsy..I have to water also. Can't wait for that rain they are promiseing us tonight. Afterall..they said it would rain last night, and it did'ent. And I beleived them and did'ent water the garden [:@]

garsyt -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (9/3/2008 5:23:19 PM)

We got a few sprinkles this afternoon!!!! Not enough to even make the driveway look wet. [>:]

Blessings,

Garsy

sunshine4God -> RE: The Official 2008 All Inclusive Weather & Chat Thread Café (9/5/2008 12:36:07 AM)
