Drove through the mountains this weekend (work... slammed all of a sudden and not complaining [:)] ) but I was amazed at what used to be rain forest now forest of dead hemlocks, brown ferns, and barely a trickle coming out of trout rivers. Guys, pray for us in the southeast. This drought has got us by the cahoonies, and it's not letting up. Going on 3 years and this is shaping up to be a fall fire season none of the likes seen in California. Seriously worried here.... [sm=worried.gif]

I hear ya. It's not very encouraging.

rayofson -> RE: The Garage-come on in (10/6/2008 10:54:59 AM)

We've finally gotten enough rain that I might actually have to mow the lawn.

[hmm... nobody here today... sniff, snifff. yep, time to get some fresh brew going... goes through the motions... pours a mug... ahhhhh!]

Finds the old, stained message board for mornings like this...

Anybody want to make the garage a headquarters for designing the ultimate virtual family/church organization retreat complex? I've got plans for the old silo that sits off this virtual building just a piece. We would not get in to the nitty-gritty specifics of everything, but with some help, I'd like to get a post going and see what we can come up with.

Let me know if you're in, and I'll share what I'm kicking around with. This virtual Monopoly money is great stuff at the virtual hardware and lumber yard, btw.

A silo you say? [:)]

(OK, but don't touch the hops growing out back.)[sm=raisedbrows.gif]

Can you have a "Men Only" suite in a family retreat? Several reclining chairs, some TV's that will only pick up sports and financial news (no ION or WE TV allowed!), and 3 beer taps... regular, lite, and Guinness. [sm=dance.gif]

rayofson -> RE: The Garage-come on in (10/7/2008 12:34:19 PM)

They could just sneak over here. [sm=icon_smile_idea.gif]

But then they'll eventually take over.

"What...the curtains?"

Flick... Flick...Flick
Just making sure the lights still work. Getting darker earlier, and need to see what I'm stepping over in the garage. [;)]

And what ARE you stepping over? Be sure you aren't stepping IN it!

APZR -> RE: The Garage-come on in (10/13/2008 10:26:14 PM)

Dude, I have no idea... this isn't my garage, I just hang here every now and again. However, since it so happens that we are in middle of moving, and I have some of those elbow high blue rubber gloves handy, I'll scoop it up and clean up muck from this past winter. Scoop it up, put it in the bucket. Eeew, looks like coffee grounds left in a mulch pile from summer camp 3 months ago. [sm=crazy.gif]
I'm done, someone else can bring in the firewood and kindling. [&:]

Cah Cah?

rayofson -> RE: The Garage-come on in (10/14/2008 9:06:36 AM)

Think of it as fertilizer. [sm=flower.gif]

So I got the travel trailer put to bed for the winter. Mowed the lawn and about halfway done with weed-whacking.

The boat never got used this year and have decided to divest. It didn't help that the year started out with a heart attack, but honestly my life is just too busy.

A friend gave me the engine block that is currently in the boat. The original one threw a rod through the block. At some point, either this fall or next spring, I'm going to pull the motor that I rebuilt myself and give it back to him. It's a stroked Ford 5.0L and he has a late 60's Galaxie he'd like to throw it in. The existing engine in his Galaxie has an overheating problem.

The hull is a 1989 and its better years are behind it. Probably the hull will be donated to a charity who specializes in boat gifting... boatangel.org
