"Yes. She did just turn you down." Yari's pixie face scrunched up in concentration. "And I wonder why she did so easily." The question teased her back and forth for awhile and then she sighed. Looking for work just then didn't seem too exciting, sure there was someone or something to amuse her otherwise. Her stomach had begun to rebel with soft growls and a slight ache. "ugh." She muttered. "Pernesians. And Food. Why don't they mix?" The thought struck her as funny, so she smiled and headed for the counter. Maybe if she ordered something fizzy, it might settle her stomach. She'd probably taken too long to eat and now her body was making her pay for it. "Mental note to self." She murmured aloud. "Buy more beast jerky." She readjusted the strap of her bag and shifted to her feet.

Sometimes the most strategic movement was stillness, and off times the most meaningful sound was silence. If Aiden's father had taught him anything it was those two very true admonishments. Over the years as he worked on making a name for himself he had found the value in his father's words a hundred times over and discovered similar thoughts of his own. Sometimes the most well placed attack was the one that never happened and maybe the best killing strike hit the heart in more ways than the obvious. The best treaties were unspoken and the laws that were always carried out to the letter likewise. Strength was measured by weakness and weakness was defined by strength. It was these thoughts and more that kept Aiden perched comfortably on the edge of his chair keenly aware of the goings on around him but separate in a dignified sort of way. A part of the whole yet unnoticed like petrified tree, holding life and superb cunning yet unnoticed by all except for the occasional curious glance. Turning his back on Thea and her brother he focused most of his attention on the barkeeper, eyeing the unusual concoction between them. Sniffing lightly he was surprised to catch a whiff of what smelled like nuts and some kind of underlying fruit. Orpa had gone back to polishing glasses and wiping down the counter, dealing with the occasional patron who came up to pay for this or that but he noted the way her eyes shimmered in Thea's direction and knew that she was dividing her attention between her duties and snooping. A corner of his mouth quirked up as he caught sight of a green blob exuding a red vapor and possessing two reddish spots for eyes that floated up to the bar and ordered a drink, interesting he thought to himself. The voice that emanated from the blob seemed to quiver and echo on every wavelength making him eye it with stark curiosity and slight annoyance. Every time the blob spoke every other noise disappeared until its words faded out and it left a strange feeling in the pit of Aiden's stomach and made his ears ring slightly. Black clawed fingers came to rest loosely on top of the twisted handle of the ebony whip coiled at his side as he felt his gaze turn into a glower directed at the blob. Tension spiked between his shoulder blades and the acorn let out a muffled hiss under normal mortal hearing. Every coordinated movement flowed seamlessly together as only an experienced fighter's can, deliberately challenging. Aiden felt his hair rustle uneasily and blinked to banish the vision of the blob roasting over an open fire in the middle of the jungle as Yari started foward in thier direction aiming for a spot between him and the offending floating matter. His hunter's sense of approaching movement was almost enough to let him regain control but still the temptation to find out what kind of flavor the aroma of green matter had as it burned teased him. Maybe this was the instinctive reactions to other species the elders had warned him about...funny...he hadn't had any inclination to roast any of the other non-Byson.

As Thea sat back down she said to Aiden, "Sorry about the interuption, What do you say do we have a deal?" with out turning around she knew her brother was behind her, why can't we ever do things the easy way. she thought. relying on years of training and the genetic modifications passed down to her by her father thea spun her chair cetching her brothers fist just before he sucker punched her. she twisted his arm and exteneded the retractable blade on her right arm so that the blade came up next to thoms neck leaving a shallow cut. Thom smiled, "do it thea, I dare you."

Conan gently set his drink down on the bar to sniff the air around him. In doing this he smelled the presents of a great Bysen hunter which activated the dueling part of his brain, so he got up from the bar and headed in the direction of the Bysen hunter. he got to Aiden and said I noticed that you are a hunter and I would like to challenge to a hunters duel.

Two Pernesians were on their way towards the bar, probably just in for a few drinks. Aakii took the last gulp from her glass and dismissed herself from the table. They couldn't touch her, but she still didn't like being around them. As her luck would have it, the register was right by the bar. Calmly, she took out her card to pay and ignored the Pernesian's blatant stare. He knew her obviously, but she had no intention of paying him any friendly acknowledgment. He grumbled something to the other Pernesian, making him chuckle just before taking a shot of whatever he had ordered. Aakii finished paying and promptly left the building.

Yari was halfway to the counter before her stomach began to rebel. There would be no drinking anything now. She turned on her heel and headed out. It wouldn't do to be caught in a public setting like this. Her fingers gripped the strap of her shoulder bag, the fingernails digging into her hands. She bit her tongue so hard it bled, but all was forgotten when she saw the nook behind the food stands. It was shadowed and hidden from view, absolutely perfect. Slipping between the stalls, she ducked behind the first curtain and then collapsed to her knees in the cramped space. Her head and tongue throbbed fiercely as she summoned her courage and promptly threw up in the conveince of a brown bag. Grimacing, she poked around the mess with a few fingers until it touched a capsule. Drawing it out of the muck, she wiped it on the flap of her bag. "Note to self." She murmured. "Never hide another message in your stomach-especially before you eat." Yari fished around in her bag for the skein of water. A few sips cleared the horrible taste from her mouth and eased her aching tongue. Rinsing off the tiny capsule, she tucked the precious information into the slit of her belt. There. That was better. Her stomach rumbled and this time, she pulled out a pastry and satisfied the craving. "A waste of credits." She mumbled around the next mouthful as she picked up the brown sack and ducked out from hiding. She chewed lazily, dropping the sack into the nearest trash receptcle at first chance. Ah, now that all of that was over, she could buy some more beast jerky...and wait to see if her contact had arrived. The only thing that made her more nervous than missing a meal, was being on edge for Pernesian spies while waiting for her Rebel contact. Whoever you are. Do come quickly and safely. Yari thought, stepping up to the stall. "Two hands of beast jerky, please." She pulled the credits from her bag.

In one smooth motion Aiden unhooked his boots from the chair rung they had been curled around and slid to his feet every muscle shivering seamlessly together as his fingers closed around the hilt of one of his twin swords. He deliberately allowed the amethyst metal to scrape along the sheath as he withdrew it and iridescent sparks leaped over his shoulder and cascaded down his back to fizz lightly on the floor. The blade glowed with an inner energy that you could see flowing through the almost transparent metal and it seemed to leave a trail of light in the air behind it as he brought it into a fighting stance. He moved gracefully, turning his attention from Thea who looked like she was holding her own to the blob that had floated up behind him…big mistake…on the blob's part. He grinned suddenly, exposing jagged black needles for teeth as he responded his head tilted to the side to better scrutinize his would be opponent. "Hunters hunt, warriors duel, although I wouldn't mind hunting you." He swung the blade with a quick flick of his wrist and it painted a shimmering purple-hued circle in the air in front of him before becoming still and clear again.

"swords Down!" orpa yelled, "there is no brawling in my place, take it out side or the Peace keepers will be called." the peace keepers were the local police force and they were not known for thier benevolace. any disterbence of the peace was punished siverly. thea retracted her blade never once taking her eyes off her brother, "don't worry Orpa, my brother was just leaving." she turned back the counter. thom smerked, "knew you didn't have it in you." thea reached behind the counter and spun quickly smashing the bottle over thom's head. he fell backagainst a table and didn't get up. "and join you in the deepest level of hell? i think not." she flipped a credit chip over to orpa, "when he wakes up his drink is on me." she then turned to ardian stepping between the two, "I am on a tight scedual so I'll tell you what i'll give you 35,000 credits and take you any where you want in the verse."

Sense we can't duel here we will have to meet another time some where else, but right now I have to go meet some. So in a haste Conan left the bar to meet his contact. when no one was looking he turned into his best friend Luke Skywalker. As he rounded the corner he saw her a beautiful girl standing under a lonely street lamp. with stealth and agility he came up behind Delyara making her jump a little bit. Hi I am the rebel contact you've been waiting fore. I had to deal with a big Bysen worrier that wanted to duel me so here I am what did you need.

Yari choked her on her jerky, silently scolding herself for jumping in the first place. Gathering her dignity around her, she was glad that the hooded cloak kept her face somewhat shielded. Even in the dim light of a street lamp, there were still many who would love to intercept this precious exchange. She wondered how they could’ve sent someone who was so obvious. “Don’t tell me who you are.” She hissed softly. “I know nothing of any contact whatsoever.” She turned slightly, causing the edges of her cloak to ripple. On the very inside edge of his collar was the cross-stitched rebel insignia. She relaxed-a minute fraction. Two slender fingers poked through the folds to offer the tiny information capsule. Gray eyes locked onto to the shadowed face. “It isn’t wise to get involved with Bysen.” Her eyes narrowed, flickering to the capsule and back. “Need I urge you to guard this with your life?” An inkling of worry laced her voice. There was no room for error here.

Aakii stayed one with the darkness of the alley way, waiting, and watching. Conan, although he could shape shift, still had the same subtle odor. That's the one she thought. That's the one she'd been tracking and now it seemed he was also tied to the illegal 'cargo' she was ordered to seize. Just barely close enough to hear, Aakii could only make out a few words and phrases, but it was clear that there was something suspicious about the two cloaked figures. She stayed still. If she moved now they would definitely get away.

Soft blue and purple light flickered across tendons and muscles highlighting shadowed musculature as Aiden tightened the grip he had on the sword handle. Raising and lowering one finger at a time he widened his stance slightly his eyes constantly active and receiving broken images. Blink…"Swords down!" Orpa yelled her mirror like skin flashing orange and blue as she moved behind the bar… Blink…leather clad fingers, silver spikes glinting as they flexed and the retractable blade hovering at Thom's throat disappeared with a hiss… Blink…two Pernesians sitting off to his left laughing together and throwing back drinks… Blink…the pub doors opening and closing as indistinct people came and left… Blink…the glint of murky coke stained glass flashing through the air and then the thud as Thom's heavy body fell back into a nearby table… Blink…the twinkle of currency as it sailed through the darkened air… Apparently the blob was waiting for him to make the first move because although only a couple seconds had passed if a Bysen warrior had been the challenger the winner would have already been decided. The rustle of cloth as Thea moved in his direction had the sparkling edge of his sword flickering through the air instinctively. His ears could catch the faint hiss of her breath and soft leathery groan of her gloves and coat as she faced him neatly inserting herself between him and his opponent. The airy sword retreated from her with the grace and speed of a breeze so that you would have had a hard time remembering whether it had ever fluttered in your direction in the first place. Bringing his arm up in a wide sweep he rested the blade across his shoulder the elegant weapon floating behind his head and the lethal tip protruding over his left shoulder. Soft purple light now provided a backdrop for his eyes rippling over and down his skin like sunlight on water. "I am on a tight schedule so I'll tell you what I'll give you 35,000 credits and take you any where you want in the verse." Her world weary voice cut through the smoky pub like a flash of gunfire, no nonsense and to the point. His eyes coalesced so he could meet her guarded yet alert gaze with his own and it was what he saw therein that convinced him more than the ramifications of what she was offering. Tilting his chin at her he deepened his voice matching the rough tenure of her species "Done." Then he grimaced as the blob spoke up "Since we can't duel here we will have to meet another time somewhere else, but right now I have to go meet someone." With that the little annoyance sailed across the pub and out of the darkened interior, it was all Aiden could do not to pull out one of his knives and send it flashing after Conan.

"good," Thea said, then watched as the blob left the cafe. "If you don't mine i'd like to get my mecanic working on my ship as soon as possible. where is your ship docked? I'll have him meet us there."

Mychel slowly uncurled from her hiding place behind the waste receptacles. Personally, she didn’t care to be near them, but her insect friends preferred the putrid air and masking scent. She yawned, flexing her tattered wings and fishing in her pocket for the broken shard of mirror she treasured. With the sliver of silver, she checked her reflection, straightening what she could of her tangled hair. The communicator on her waist beeped and she checked it, annoyed. “G’morning, Master Grendall.” Her lilting voice hinted otherwise, but she fixed a smile on her face for his benefit. “What does tha want with me, now?” The exchange in words passed quickly and she rolled her eyes. “Stupid rebels. Why can’t they give up already? Don’t they know I’m on the winning side? Hmm? Oh yes, whatever you say Master Grendall. No, I haven’t. I’ve only just awakened. Who is he and what am I supposed to ask him? No, I won’t do that. I don’t want to.” She laughed, mocking. “Don’t tell me, with tattered wings and all of that, you believe I still have a future, you play me for a fool, Grendall.” She clicked the communicator off, ending the bothersome call. “Morning loves,” She cooed to the glittering dragonflies. “Oooh, you’ll have to make yourselves scarce for awhile. I’ve got to take care of some people business.” She fluttered her fingers and stretched her wings out to full length. With a few powerful strokes, she was airborne up and above the garbage dump. On the way up, she grabbed the bulky jacket she’d stolen earlier. It had hung out in last night’s rain and now it would look entirely different on her slender frame. It would also do a swell job of hiding her wings. Landing in a shadowed corner, she shrugged into the jacket and tagged the first passerby she could. “Begging your pardon, where is Ramseys?...Thank you.” She started off in the given direction. The bar was mostly so-so, not too full and somewhat quiet for her tastes. Her eyes darted over everywhere, roving, careful. Her gaze landed on a fallen figure with flecks of glass adorning his colorful hair. Her lips twisted into a smirk. Someone had gotten behind this tough fellow. She walked up to the counter and waved at the bartender. “Something cold and sweet, if you don’t mind.” She tossed the credits on the counter. When her drink arrived, she downed in several gulps and wiped her mouth. The fellow hadn’t even stirred. “Some ice water, if you please.” She forked over a few more credits. “In a bucket would be plenty helpful too.”

Yari blinked as the contact took off at a rather unbelievable speed. “Huh.” She mumbled after his retreating figure. “Didn’t even give me a chance to-oh well.” She shrugged. “That’s just as well, I need to keep my head screwed on straight.” She yawned. “Now let’s see. There must be someone who works with blades here. Perhaps I could trade for a few credits to get me a flight out of here.” Her neck and fingers rippled an itchy feeling all over her. She rolled her shoulders, moving away from the lonely street and towards the busy-ness of the station, again.

The bar door opened as two figures entered the bar and looked around. They looked competely out of place; one was a young man and didn't look very extraordinary, and the other was a young woman looking very exotic and out of place. Staring around the bar, they uncertainly started towards the counter. Tisme seated herself next to Mychel, eyeing her strange wings. She leaned forward and rested her elbows on the counter, waiting for the bartender. Janeil seated himself next to Tisme, copying her gestures. "Do you think they sell soda here?" "Not sure....I'm not much on alien bars. You'll never know what they have until you go there once." Tisme answered. "If you survive first and don't order something that'll kill you..." Janeil said to himself. "How many people do you think will look us up?" Tisme asked. "Well, we put that we docked in the local bulletin terminal, and offered some of the stuff we have in the cargo bay, so I guess we just wait," Janeil answered. "We'll know if someone approaches us or sends a message on the terminal..." Ad can be found here: http://www.geocities.com/janeilbennett/Borka_Station_Ad.txt

A pocket on Aakii's belt vibrated and buzzed until she finally took the communicator out and flipped it open, holding it out in front of her. A soft blue light barely illuminated the area around her in the dark alley as she read the text. It was a message left by the captain demanding any new information she had. "...and don't think we aren't keeping our own eyes on you, Miss Lucine..." she read at last. She slapped the two-fold shut and dropped it back into it's place on the belt. "Pernesians....." she grumbled under her breath. Noticing that Yari and Conan were indeed gone she emerged from the alley and set course for the docking stations. Then she spotted Yari, and decided to watch her. With any luck, she would be able to locate the ship she was on.

The sound of Thea's voice trailed through the air in the wake of the closing door, displaced air settling back into the vacated space the blob had been with an audible sigh. Or maybe that was just the other patrons all exhaling at the same time…either way Aiden felt the tension drain from his body as his ears sucked up the returning variances in the air around him with glee. "If you don't mine I'd like to get my mechanic working on my ship as soon as possible. Where is your ship docked? I'll have him meet us there." It took great self-control not to let his eyes drift closed at the rightness that seemed to crackle in the air with every utterance Thea made and the subtle shifting cadences of movement and life that came alive in the air. Aiden shuddered slightly, he hadn't realized how much he had relied on his hearing until it had been disabled, it was not a feeling he wanted to experience ever again. The soft exhalation of opening pub doors had him tensing and shifting into a fighting stance, feet shoulder width apart and braced for impact, sword flitting out from behind his head and hovering nearly motionless to his right. Thea was standing in front of him so she prevented any forward motion but his left hand came to rest heavily on the coiled length of the living vine whip. Dark green venom rippled to life under the warmth of his hand and turned almost fluorescent as the gleaming thorns rustled against each other eagerly. He never missed what he aimed for and despite the different habitat his confidence was as high as ever, if the blob had come back through those doors he wouldn't get the second chance to leave. The sight that greeted his eyes was strange in itself and just went to prove that when you were in an alien environment you should prepare yourself for the unexpected. Out of the two people that entered the bar the male was the least spectacular. He was wearing soft grey pants that seemed to make all the light around them hazy and a white t-shirt that looked almost grey in the dim interior and sharply contrasted with his black flight boots. A black jacket draped over his slightly hunched shoulders and stopped just short of the utility belt hanging around his waist. His face was guarded and his eyes were alert and piercing as they swept the bar for open seats. His partner was the complete opposite of his rugged wildness her unique feminine characteristics drawing the attention of almost every guy in the pub. Her soft blue skin was distinctly at odds with her long purple hair and every movement spoke of grace and agility. The indistinct brown outfit she was wearing pulsed faintly with life and she seemed to move in tangent with the pulses unconsciously as if connected to it somehow. He turned his attention back to Thea with difficulty and the help of years spent training himself to control wayward thoughts and actions. “My ship is not far from here, it is just outside and down the moving ground to the left.” He told Thea as he sheathed his sword and started for the door, every move coordinated and unconsciously set to give the female newcomer as wide a berth as possible.

Thea nodded, "Good it is in the same dock as my own ship." she took out her communicator and punched a number. "I've succured the ship, it is at Bay t93, how long will it take?" she paused waiting for him to answer her, "Good, I'll meet you there." she hung it up. "shell we?" she headed to the door and held the door open, "I'd rather not be here when he wakes." she indecated her brother's unconcious body and the strange alien who seemed interested in him.

Yari wandered through the mass of people streaming to and from the docks. She managed to stay on the outskirts for the most part, and soon found herself standing beside a bulletin board. Her eyes scanned the ads briefly and her attention riveted on one particular piece about new traders. “huh.” Yari waved her arm in front of the ad, downloading a copy into her wrist comm. Perhaps it would come in handy later-or maybe now. “I wonder if they travel much…” She muttered, turning back towards Ramsy’s. “They said ferrying for pilots…” Yari cautiously stuck her head around the corner, telling herself to look for anything out of the ordinary. More specifically, people who hadn’t been there the last time she had. Her eyes lit on a strange young woman with a seemingly human companion. They hadn’t been there when she’d left. She chewed her lip, wondering whether she should approach. Her sensibility took hold of her and she straightened, drawing the hood of her cloak up and over to hide her face. Walking over to the couple, she cleared her throat. “Excuse me…did you place an ad for ferrying…” Her voice trailed off at the sight of an unconscious Thom and a too-familiar blonde about to pour a bucket of water over him.

She never looked at Yari for more then a second at a time, instead she stole little glimpses of her clothing, bag, accessories, hair, height, etc.; burning the images into her mind. "Back to Ramsy's, eh? Hmm." The bustling paths kept her camouflaged as she made short note of the human and the blue-skinned female, being careful nott o get caught in a stare. It was possible that the girl she was following would be leaving with them. Instead of waiting Aakii continued on tot he docks.

"Uh...what?" Janeil asked, turning to face the person that spoke to him. Tisme turned around, and noticed a guy on the floor, and someone peeking from somewhere in the distance. "She wants to know about our ad," Tisme supplemented. "Oh that, yeah, ferrying; where to?" He asked.
