ORIGINAL: WhiteRoseBlessings Ooooh - what a cool idea! Plus, I could give the brownies anonymously and then observe everyone's reactions and report on that. I can give you directions to my house if you need to practice....

Well, ok . . . that will work. So uhm, can you come get me, please, and bring me back to your house so I can drop some brownies off? Oh, and when we get to your house, close your eyes so you don't see me putting the brownies at your front door. Oh, and then, may I please have a ride back home afterwards?

Its part of the Navajo culture to pull into someone's driveway and wait until someone comes out. Its their way of welcoming you to their land. If you are not welcomed, they don't come out of their house (or hogan). Its interesting.

ORIGINAL: WhiteRoseBlessings Well, I'll try to steer from the driver's side . . . but if we get caught, I'm sure this is going to bode well for you being a potential cop . . . not to mention what it will do to me . . . steering without a license. Don't worry about me. I'll just blame it all on you... Oh yeah . . . that will make you look VERY SMART, while you're eyes are closed and you're giggling from the anticipation and aroma of brownies. quote:

ORIGINAL: Kerrlaw1 I told you it was brownie related, but you scoffed. People are different in the south. A friend told me that his father will go to visit someone on Sunday afternoon and pull into their driveway. If they don't come out in a few minutes, he will drive away. When he told me, I remembered times when people would pull into our driveway when I was a child. If we were a little slow to go put and greet them. we would have to chase them down as they pulled out. Counsellor, I shall endeavor to never scoff at your brilliance again. You were absolutely right. As to the rest of your post . . . being a single woman, I have never opened my door at night if I wasn't expecting company. It just seems the safe and prudent thing to do. Well that . . . and the fact that I'm also a snob.

I couldn't find a clip of where Jerry Jeff Walker was singing it, but I was able to hear someone else singing it. I love acoustic guitars!
