Our pom has gained some of her strength, and is eating. She can't jump or run too fast, but she is recovering, thanks to SAM and milk thistle (for liver function). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My weight is down to 235. Considering how my weight was >259 lbs in January, it is a start. Aiming for 200 lbs! I hit a stage of disillusionment with an unnatural and difficult prepackaged diet. The food had sugar alcohols and glycerin; I was becoming more hungry. The high-protein and low-carb is difficult to maintain. I became dehydrated, muscle cramps were a problem; and I was moody, forgetful and ravenous for sugar. I ditched the "system". Then I began to eat like crazy. Soon, a typical morning meal was a big omelette, toast and fruit--and numerous refills of coffee. On Fridays I had a waffle, with eggs and bacon and---<LOTS of coffee>. And that did not help my alertness or fatigue. I woke up sleepy and groggy and needed caffeine to stay awake. My lunch was at KFC, Mexican food, BBQ or a Chinese fast food. During my days at 250 lb, I would graze at the all-you-could eat pizza parlors and sleep walk the rest of the afternoon. Dinner was fast food, too. I was stretching the threads on those size 38 Dockers. There were folds of fat on the back of my neck--just balancing out the double-chin?[sm=icon_smile_faint.gif] For a man, belly fat is not inert. There are enzymes that reside in the adipose tissues. A certain steroid is converted to estrogen. And some estrogen-like compounds may stay in that beer belly. I started reading Ori Hofmekler's Warrior diet. A number of highly athletic individuals told me about it, so I decided to give it a try. I have changed my eating habits and eating times. It seems that it is not just what we eat, but when we eat. Brain chemistry, hormone levels and liver function plays a major role in weight loss and overall health. And short-term fasting increases HGH levels. In the morning and afternoon, I eat one or two of the following with some green tea: almonds Walnuts Goji berries Strawberries Blueberries An avocado A piece of string cheese Two tablespoons of cottage cheese Flax seeds Orange V8 (not the engine, the juice!!) Plenty of water At night, I eat alot. Between 5 PM & 9 pm, I eat! This includes alot of broccoli, cabbage, bean sprouts, chicken, beef, jumbo shrimp, green onions and cucumbers!! OK, sometimes I eat Indian food. And before bed, a dairy product. I am minimizing the deep fried stuff (certain oils are not good for the brain or the metabolic pathways). And until Thanksgiving, NO donuts, bread, bagels, ice cream, candy bars, pies, cookies or HFCS. It took a week to adjust, but I am extremely upbeat and energetic from 5:15 am to 8 pm. I need far less caffeine, and I don't crave the Snickers, pastries, donuts and bagels that are STRATEGICALLY stationed in the Accounting Department, kitchen and the conference rooms! In my own situation, it has eliminated the acid reflux, the leg cramps, and 15 lbs+! It works for me...
