All reality shows... aside from the Amazing Race . I HATE reality shows. Stupid people doing stupid things and these shows go on for ages while all the good shows with real actors (or at least actors paid to do the job) get sacked before they can even build an audience. But I like the Amazing Race .

Montel, Maury, Oprah, Dr. Phill etc etc etc. Real people with real problems real advice blah blah blah whatever.

The View, Last Call with Carson Daly.... The View already end or not yet? Anyway I hate it... a bunch of clucking hens that can hardly understand over all that yelling and squabbling. Last Call... how does he have a job? He isn't funny yet thinks hes hilarious, never has any good guests on... all the laughing on that show sounds so forced as well...

Maury - all those paternity test and/or lie detector shows. How do you spell "one trick pony"?

Forgive me if you see this post twice, but for some reason I can't see my own post that I posted. LOL.

Anyways, I was saying I am the third person in the world that doesn't like American Idol. Could never get into it. I lose interest when they start singing, and I can't stand Simon. I think he's the main reason I don't like the show.

Also Oprah..where do you begin??

What I've seen over the last two years is that while the combo of "devoted" fans that are dedicated to Sanjaya-types, and the "vote for the worst" crowd, likely can't get someone to win - their votes, while there are still a bunch of contestants, usually knock more talented folks from the top 10.

Last season was a fluke. Even the producers have admitted that they just didn't have people with "wow"-type talent. This season already looks much better.

quote:

After those folks are knocked off, the people really voting on talent and appeal switch to voting for the remaining talented contestants, eventually knocking off the untalented VFTW contestant(s). The voting for talented contestants simply isn't diluted enough any more for the VFTW/nutty dedicated fans to overcome the people voting for talent.

Next time you all are tempted to "vote for the worst," maybe you'll consider at least for a moment that this tactic won't likely change the final outcome, and what it really does is knock off talented contestants who really could have used the additional exposure.

I just wonder - if you don't like a show, why not just simply not watch it? Or, editorialize, blog, write to the networks, whatever? Why put so much energy into attempting to mess up the voting? It's not an effective means of registering your disapproval, IMO...because the AI producers aren't going to know whether you're a "dedicated" fan of the FTFW contestant or someone trying to mess up the results.

Amen!

As for personal hates, I've lived in Britain, so I've been exposed to both versions of Big Brother. I can't stand that show. I hate Dr. Phil. I absolutely loathe Maury's show. Every time I stumble across it he's doing the same thing--"tearful girls confront the men who deny being the father of their kid." He and Springer are both down in the gutter.

I love "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" However, Foxworthy is beginning to get to me. I hate the way he announces a commercial break, hyping it up like it's the Oscars. "And the next question is--RIGHT AFTER THE BREAK!" It was funny once, but not anymore.

Which current shows do I hate? That's simple - any and all "reality" shows. IMO they are nothing but mindless garbage that are only broadcast because they are cheaper to produce than regular shows. Since most of the current TV shows that are on these days are reality shows, my television watching is now limited to the Law and Order franchise, NCIS, and my personal collection of John Wayne movies.

I agree with the other shows people here don't like. Actually I don't like survivor either. They always seem to get half naked.

Flipping through channels, music videos, like the VH1 classics, and saw some of the other shows, Nasty stuff on there, some show called ,I Love New York, Brett Michaels Rock of Love, and I think some others, Just completely nasty. If you are familiar then you know what I am talking about. Just simply horrible.

I only have basic cable (which here means none of the USA's cable channels), so I'm unfamiliar with those shows.

Nobody's mentioned "A Shot at Love" with Tila Tequila?!?

I'm not sure if I'm to the point of hate, but I was severely dissapointed in Smash Lab. I don't recall any foul language, or sexuality, or any of the usual objectionable content, but it was just so stupid! The ads for the show made it out to be science based, but it was anything but. There was just a bunch of thoughtless destruction. Not only is it sad that it could have been better, but also because it's pretty much anti-science. The "experiments" done on the show are just stunts. There is not enough thought going into them to be called science.

That's the direction Mythbusters is going, too.

Wait... Are you suggesting that Jeff Foxworthy would overuse a joke?

i don't like big brother either (even though i have a friend who actually won one season of it. it was sheer torture having to watch her every single week to see if she'd stay in the house)

Um, are you talking about Janelle? I can't think of another girl winner. We like that show (sheepishly admits )

Onto the list:

Fear Factor - just gross, how many times do I need to watch someone covered in spiders or rats, or *gag* eat them??

All Network daytime programming, need I say more?

All "find true love on this ridiculous reality show" shows

Tyra Banks Show ( and all the other talk shows mentioned)

The Real Housewives of OC

Charmed, Angel, Medium, Moonlight, etc

Extreme Makeover, The Swan, Dr. 90210

Oh there are so many more....give me time, I will think of them

My embarassing fav?....Clean House, love that show!!

I hate Survivor Man. I can't stand the things he does to show that he knows how to handle himself if caught out in the middle of nowhere. Here's my solution: don't go there in the first place! It was interesting for one or two shows, but then it just gets so repetitive.

I used to like the Mythbusters, but am really sick of them now. Can't stand the Jr. Mythbusters getting such a big segment of the show.

I hate all the Real Video/Amazing Video police car chases/crashes/explosions etc. etc. hosted by John Burnell! ENOUGH! If only my husband didn't love them so much...

I'd jump in and say I hate the reality shows, too, but I'd be a hypocrite. If I start watching, it's like a car wreck and the sheer stupidity and debauchery sucks me in... so I'm always better off not turning the show on in the first place.

You know what kind of bugs me about those "are you the father?" shows Maury does?

It turns into men/male-bashing a lot of the time. A girl can be a slut and sleep with 5 guys and not know who the father is (I saw this on a show once), and the guys were the ones who got booed.

Fear Factor, especially the part where they have to eat something disgusting.
Wife Swap - I'll admit I've never watched a whole show, but I despise just the commercials, so why would I subject myself to a whole show?
All those reality shows where people apparently think they can find true love in two weeks.
