I clicked (for the poll) "What is microchipping" because although I know technically that it is a device you can scan if they ever get lost, I don't know much more then that about it. Not sure either way if we would do it or not.

I've got a cat. She came from the RSPCA and they chip as routine. I'd have had her chipped myself if she hadn't been done (just as I'd have had her spayed if she hadn't been done). I'd hate for her to go missing and not be able to find her, not that she goes out (her choice). She's been great company and it's been wonderful to see her personality develop as she's become more secure (she was very timid when I first got her).

My kitty's name is Rukia! She was a homeless kitty found on side of road in the middle of no where... a carrier found her and asked me if I could watch her until she was done with her route It was my lunch break so I took her in my work and I looked at her with her ribs showing...and gave her some of my cheeseburger. I then decided I was going to take her in...and give her a loving home. She is very loved! she is so unqie, She always watches me leaving out the window...and she is always there when I come home waiting at the door for me, she is my alarm kitty she always knows when its time for me to get up ...although at times she is crazy and all over the place...like some kinda ninja...she always comes and sits in my lap, and always is there when I wake up...she is here as we speak sitting in my lap lol. The day I met Rukia! Rukia! LOL always around

Kath, I just took a closer look at your avatar and can't stop laughing! That's the way Tut (my cat) looks when I take him to the vet.

ok...question...... we are thinking of replacing our couch set with tax refund money. The couch and love seat we have were given to us and we aren't too keen on them...constantly having to fix the cushions a million times a day. We want something with less maintenance....and probably just a couch and chair instead of the love seat...it doesn't work for our living room very well. Question is...are there any fabric choices we should stay away from because of having cats? What about leather (or the fake stuff that looks like leather, cause we are cheap and would probably end up with the cheaper stuff)?

My parents have had a faux suede couch for years and it is still in tip top condition even though the cats have scratched at it. We have a suede chair and our cats try to wreck it, but haven't been able to. Leather is the worst because one tiny hole is very noticeable and can keep ripping. Usually when a cat scratches or just gets a nail stuck in a leather couch it pulls out the cotton fabric underneath the leather making the couch look even worse.

Yes, let's talk cats We have an 11 year old cat-mutt - she's grey but no pedigree. She's been our baby since before her eyes opened. She was neutered when she was young and has everything a cat could possibly want out of life. and yet...she walks around the house caterwalling when we are all at home and all in the same room and she is getting attention, etc. She just starts meowing...endlessly. I've checked her over and over for something that might be giving her pain or discomfort. We graduated from lil squirtgun to big squirtgun and nothing...she still does it. I just don't get it. She wakes us up in the middle of the night hollering at the foot of the bed. ???any thoughts???

My only problem with suede is that I can't stand lines...even if the vacuum leaves lines I sweep them out...lol. So I feel like I would constantly be brushing the material with my hand just so it wouldn't annoy me

The vet said to just ignore her and she would stop after 3 or 4 days. Well, we did that for about 3 weeks and she never stopped. We thought maybe she wanted to go outside with us, so we let her out in the back yard - it's privacy-fenced - but even then, she meowed while she sniffed and walked around. I don't know...I guess she's just like anything else that ages...complain, complain, complain

My cat IS microchipped - even though she is an indoor cat. I had it done when I had her fixed - so there was no discomfort for her. We live in FL - with hurricanes and stuff - you just never know. She also had a tendency to want to "bolt" out the front door at times, so it's solely for her own protection. She's a med haired ALL black kitty with one white whisker and a very small patch of a few white hairs under her chin. She trusts me completely - her favorite position is upside down in my arms (like a baby) so she can look at the world upside down. She also lets me clip ALL her claws - front and back. I've had her now for nearly 5 years, and she was about a year and a half when I got her. She's rescued.
