I don't know how long Kath... I found a cd-rom the other day and went through it to see what was on it and the worm thread was on it! I was laughing so hard when I was editing it!

St Nicky the Christmas Cat is mining for Q-tips again. He is really a genius at it. He never disturbs the trash can in the bathroom unless there are q-tips in it. If there are, he turns it over and digs until he finds them. I have tried wrapping them in TP as a test, putting in unused ones, covering them up, etc. He always knows whether to go digging or not.

Our Soft Paws came in the mail today and after much wailing and gnashing of teeth, they are glued to the cat. We got pastel pink and she looks pretty sharp. So far she hasn't seemed to notice she has false nails, so good.

No, they don't interfere. I don't know how anyone figured that out.

My cats have all outgrown the whole clawing up everything stage but eventually we'll have a new kitty. They're supposed to stay on 4-6 weeks, until the claw naturally sloughs off. I've used them before and I'm trying to remember if that was the case back then. What I liked about using them the first around is that it kind of taught my cats not to claw. I think I used them for a year or so and even after I stopped my cats weren't prone to clawing furniture or carpet or anything.

One cannot always be around with a squirt bottle.

Shatterproof ornaments? They generally withstand hitting the ground. Sadly though, Christmas trees and ornaments are simply too big a temptation for kitties of any age ('cept Munchie, who's way too lazy!). My sister is just moving house this w/end and she wants to get a kitty by Christmas and is aiming to decorate the house and have a tree...

I have not had too many problems with my cats and Christmas trees. They usually bat the ornaments that hang on the bottom branches so I always put unbreakable ones there. My girl did climb up into the tree her first Christmas--but she weighed about a pound and just curled up and slept on a branch next to the trunk. The next year she seemed to think about it but never attempted to climb or sleep in the tree. My boy is a big sweet lard bucket with fur and wouldn't consider expending the energy to climb anything.

Vanilla has never shown any interest in the Christmas tree, either. He's a bit of a lard bucket with fur, too, though.
