Our cat was not around other cats, so we trained her like a dog and she goes under things, rather than on top of stuff. Probably why she is so neurotic. My mom's cat, however...loves to get on top of everything. Mom bought some contac paper and laid it on the countertops and her dining room table so the sticky side was up and after a few attempts to jump and walk around on that stuff...no more kitty on the countertops or the table.

Cats are playful. They go under and over things, mostly over. And they never see a pile of laundry they don't like.

Yeah my cat has unplugged the cable twice behind my dresser (I have a tv in my room). It's very irritating. I could barely reach to plug it back in. I can't push it any further back. I haven't thought of anything that would work.

Or if there is a small space she is getting through, in the entrance. Kitties don't like pepper and it will act as a deterrant.

You can purchase (I am pretty sure I have seen this) locks so that plugs cannot be unplugged. Or maybe it was some sort of cover so that the plug could not be removed without removing the cover.

Well, it's been almost three weeks now, and my lost kitty hasn't returned home. I don't cry every day like I had been, but it's just plain lonesome going home and not having a kitty to sit on my lap and purr, or to pet and talk to. I've never been in this situation before and don't know what to do, if anything. How long do you think I should wait before I give up on his coming home? I've thought fleetingly about adopting another cat at some point, but I wouldn't want to get another one and then have my first cat come home. I doubt if that would work out because Tut doesn't like other cats. I'm just in a quandary and would like your thoughts, especially those of you who have had something like this happen to you.

I couldn't understand what it means, so I chose I don't know what it means. I have a cutie kitty. She is a mixture of Persian Maine Coone Cat and looks a lot like my avatar kitty. Her name is Princess F****. She is the most adorable kitty in the world.

ETA: There is a link to the TOS at the top of the page--and at the bottom. Those are probably the easiest links.

Cloak, don't worry. You didn't do anything wrong if you were just trying to keep your kitty's name a secret. Occasionally, words will contain "embedded" words, or sometimes we use words that have different contexts (like when we p-r-i-c-k our fingers), so those words are caught by the website and given **** instead. I believe Kath didn't know whether you had one of those embedded words or if you inserted the **** on purpose. (Am I right, Kath? I don't want to be presumptuous.) quote:

I am sorry about that; I did not realize it. The reason why I put asterisks is bc I wanted to keep kitty's name confidential. You are fine then, we just needed to know if your intention was to just keep it private. People get concerned when they see asterisks. :)

Maybe I should rephrase my earlier question a bit: If you have ever lost a pet (for any reason), how long was it before you felt "ready" to get another one? How did you realize you were ready? My lost kitty was the first one I had ever had on my own as an adult, although we had lots of cats when I was growing up and living with my parents.

I guess we would get one fairly quickly. It's just too lonely without them.

First,I am sorry about your lost kitty. That is hard. In response to your question, just depends on you. In the past, I have gotten one pretty quick. Had some friends say one should not do it, it is trying to replace the pet, I think that is bunk.....I did not get another to forget or to not feel, it just was very comforting to have another little fuzzbutt around. Go by your own gut hon! And let us know when ya do. Godbless you.

I don't know how to describe it other than you just know. Only a week after my Winky passed, I wasn't ready for another one yet, but when a wee baby kitten showed up in my window well at work, I knew I had to bring her home after the vet checked her out. I wouldn't have adopted yet, but life just worked that way. It was hard, but in other ways, that little kitty (Sadie) really helped ease the pain.

ORIGINAL: Kath I guess we would get one fairly quickly. It's just too lonely without them. I think I would too ~ I love Munchkin and it's because I love her and the love, care and attention that she's given me, that I'd hate to be without a cat. I'll hate it when she's not in my life, and I won't be looking to replace her anymore than I got her to replace my previous cat. I just need a cat. Furrypurrykitty ~ I'm so sorry Tut hasn't come back yet. I don't think there is a hard and fast rule as to getting another pet after losing one. James Herriot (he of 'All Creatures Great and Small', if you've heard of it) believed it was best to get another pet as soon as possible otherwise you'd end up never getting another one. As Cloak has said, others say to give it some time. I wonder if you could consider fostering for a period of time? Here people often take kitty mums-to-be in, to look after and 'socialise' the kitties before they find new homes (all organised by the rescue centre). That may be easier for you to do at the moment, especially since losing Tut hasn't had a real ending (ie he hasn't died).
