Seeing the lake through the eyes of God is a big part of it Joy, but it's also seeing through the eyes of "home" (or at least our earthly home). That always makes it more beautiful too. I do often think that if it can be so beautiful here, just think what Heaven will look like!!

I know........when I read those chapters in the Bible where God speaks with amazement over creation........I get all excited because I know the beauty here doesn't even compare to the beauty there......... I agree a place being "home" adds to it's beauty. It is one reason I have never been a stickler that I want to marry someone locally and live the rest of my life here.....beauty surrounds my home and my home is where my husband is.....make sense?

Hey hsgma since LS doesn't have as strong a current and flowing water as Lake M and it is further north does it ever freeze from shore to shore?

On very, very, very cold years it has "frozen over". I think it is pretty much slushy in the middle of the lake, but they call it frozen over! One of the things I always loved, but now has a bit of a bitter sweet feeling to it (I'll explain that in a bit), is the way the lake looks when the air and water temps are just right and it looks like steamy clouds coming up from the water- I'm sure you get that a lot too. It just looks so cool. The reason it is "bittersweet" is that the morning of the day my Dad died, I was sitting in the "sunroom" at the hospital looking at the sunrise and then the lake with that "steam" rising... now it always brings me back to that moment when I first see it. I am able to appreciate it again, but those first few moments... [8\|].

I understand.............there are several things which take me back to the day dad died.............most of them now bring a gentle smile......I was telling Rach this morning, one of the things which most amazes me about the Lord is how he can enable us to feel the pain of grieving and the joy, of hope and love, at the same time. I was just talking to a co worker of mine who is dealing with her mother's cancer. We were talking about how hard it is to watch someone you love go from being strong and invincible to weak and conquerable. As we talked I smiled as I saw my father as he is now.........and realized it is only by dying to ourselves, mentally, emotionally, and physically that we truly become invincible and strong......

Just thought I'd stop in and say hi. It's funny how you've been talking about the awesome beauty of the Great Lakes. I had the day off and had to go over to Petoskey and got to drive all along the shore of Lake Michigan and the sun was out for a while which caused the water to be this deep sapphire blue which was outlined by the white shores. It is breathtaking and I don't know why but when I see beauty like that it causes me to be mindful of how awesome and powerful God is. I know Heaven is our final destination, but I find great joy in the things He allows us to enjoy while we're still here. Btw, Joy....if God does move you somewhere else, it will be amazing what you can find joy in elsewhere. I've lived in the Puget Sound, the Rocky Mountains, the high desert...and even the seemingly, at first, bording areas of eastern Washington. And one thing I've learned is He's truly an incredible Artist. But, I do admit...when I got to come back to the GLs there was a big sense of "aaaahhhh".

. . . . ....... Lake Michigan is wonderful.... my girls absolutely love it.... I'm sooo thankful Joy introduced us to the wonderful beaches there... she even showed us her favorite spots to hang out.... it was like she was giving us a piece of her... Lake Michigan will always be a special place to me (and the girls), too.... I think seeing different people post in here gives me daily joy.... Hey Darcy! [:D]

Hello Darcyjo. Thank you so much for taking the time to stop over and say Hi....and the invitation to visit you anytime. It is a little different here then in singles. In a way I do feel like I have moved to a new town full of strangers.........but I am excited to be here and have no doubt in time I will make new friends........ Hey Rach........This summer won't be the same with you and the girls gone.....no more beach days........Plus did you get the email from Kimber? She got the job at the other station so will not be coming home this summer........good for her but bummer for me. Today will be a crazy day.......the temp was 37 this morning and is suppose to rise to 40 degrees only to drop back to 15 when a huge storm front comes in with high winds, thunder and lots of snow........it is crazy Exciting weather always causes a stir of excitement in the air........at least for me it does [:D][:D]

Good morning all!! How wonderful to come in here before the day gets all crazy again, and read about His great artistic ability! I have to admit, that after reading some of Joy's posts when I first joined CW, I was able to appreciate the beauty all around me even more. I wasn't too happy about moving back to the desert ..... the heat! Ugh [:(] But now that I am more focused on the beauty of the landscape around me, I don't mind the heat as much. Or is it I've learned to just stay indoors when it hits 115+? [;)] Either way ....... it's working really well for me now!! [:D] I'm liking it over here. It's like visiting friends ...... so much fun! [:D][:D] I need to get around and do a little more visiting [:)] I have done some lurking in a few other threads, learning about some people. Maybe I need to just crash some parties, eh? [sm=raisedbrows.gif]

I would stop by a few neighboring houses, introduce myself, and see where the conversations goes from there........ You know I did drive by the old neighborhood yesterday because I was feeling bored and restless. I thought I was missing the old place but I didn't even get to my old home(smile thread) when I realized I wasn't missing the place so much as the habit of going there.........so I turned my car around and came back "home" [:D][:D][:D]

It smells and feels like spring today........ speaking of smell and feel........one of the things God showed me the other day which has really added to my dailyjoy is as men made in the image of God our senses are a part of Him that he gave to us to enable us to draw closer to Him. God loves the sound, smell, taste,touch and vision of His creation including us. He sees the beautiful shape of our faces, hears our voices singing praise to him, taste the fruit of our labor, gently caresses our faces and smells the sweet fragrance of our love.......We utilize our senses to experience Him and he uses them to experience us.......giving us joy in everyday life.
